Wie hat sich der Brief als Kommunikationsform in den letzten 3.000 Jahren entwickelt? Was hat sich gewandelt? Welche Strukturelemente blieben unverändert? Als Text, als Objekt und als kommunikatives ...Ereignis lebt der Brief in seiner Wiedererkennbarkeit von Invarianzen, die die Reproduzierbarkeit eines Musters auch unter sich wandelnden kulturellen Bedingungen zu garantieren scheinen. Es ist diese zwischen Formalisierung und Offenheit changierende Textualität, die zum einen das Interesse disziplinär konturierter Fragehorizonte auf sich zieht, die zum anderen aber ohne interdisziplinären Austausch wohl kaum in ihrer Spannbreite ausgemessen werden kann. Die Beiträge des Bandes tragen Bausteine zu einer Kulturgeschichte des Briefs zusammen und reflektieren zugleich die Kontinuitäten, die sich im geschichtlichen Wandel abzeichnen.
Der Band bietet die Briefe von und an Friedrich und Dorothea Schlegel aus den Anfangsjahren der europäischen Nationenbildung. Im Zentrum steht die publizistische Tätigkeit Friedrich Schlegels und ...sein Interesse an der Literaturgeschichte. Daneben beschäftigte er sich mit der Kunstgeschichte und stand in Kontakt mit ausübenden Künstlern wie den Nazarenern in Rom. In diese Zeit fallen auch politische Arbeiten und die fortdauernde Suche nach einer passenden Anstellung. Schlegel bemüht sich sowohl publizistisch, durch sein Engagement gegen Napoleon und für den Vatikan, als auch durch seine Vorlesungen in Wien Anschluss zu finden. Dorotheas Briefe sind geprägt von den Wirren und Sorgen der Napoleonischen Kriege. Sie unterstützt ihren Mann bei seinen publizistischen Tätigkeiten.
There are few features that characterize the letter, and yet they have contributed to the successful history of this communication form for more than 3000 years: writtenness, materiality, mobility, ...address, the necessity of transmittal, and the fact that they can be dated and stored. These contributions take different disciplinary perspectives in order to sound out the universal features of letter communication in specific historical conditions.

The novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is associated with a severe respiratory manifestation, COVID-19, and presents a challenge for healthcare systems worldwide. Healthcare workers are a vulnerable cohort for SARS-CoV-2 infection due to frequent and close contact to patients with COVID-19.
Serum samples from 316 healthcare workers of the University Hospital Essen, Germany were tested for SARS-CoV-2-IgG antibodies. A questionnaire was used to collect demographic and clinical data. Healthcare workers were grouped depending on the frequency of contact to COVID-19 patients in high-risk-group (n = 244) with daily contact to known or suspected SARS-CoV-2 positive patients, intermediated-risk-group (n = 37) with daily contact to patients without known or suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection at admission and low-risk-group (n = 35) without patient contact.
In 5 of 316 (1.6 %) healthcare workers SARS-CoV-2-IgG antibodies could be detected. The seroprevalence was higher in the intermediate-risk-group vs. high-risk-group (2/37 (5.4 %) vs. 3/244 (1.2 %), p = 0.13). Four of the five subject were tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 via PCR. One (20 %) subject was not tested via PCR since he was asymptomatic.
The overall seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in healthcare workers of a tertiary hospital in Germany is low (1.6 %). The data indicate that the local hygiene standard might be effective.

Efficient engulfment of the intact cell corpse is a critical end point of apoptosis, required to prevent secondary necrosis and inflammation. The presentation of “eat-me” signals on the dying cell is ...an important part of this process of recognition and engulfment by professional phagocytes. Here, we present evidence that apoptotic cells secrete chemotactic factor(s) that stimulate the attraction of monocytic cells and primary macrophages. The activation of caspase-3 in the apoptotic cell was found to be required for the release of this chemotactic factor(s). The putative chemoattractant was identified as the phospholipid, lysophosphatidylcholine. Further analysis showed that lysophosphatidylcholine was released from apoptotic cells due to the caspase-3 mediated activation of the calcium-independent phospholipase A
2. These data suggest that in addition to eat-me signals, apoptotic cells display attraction signals to ensure the efficient removal of apoptotic cells and prevent postapoptotic necrosis.
