Recent evidences showed that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are frequently dysregulated and play important roles in various cancers. Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is one of the leading cause ...of cancer-related death, largely due to the metastasis of ccRCC. However, the clinical significances and roles of lncRNAs in metastatic ccRCC are still unknown.
lncRNA expression microarray analysis was performed to search the dysregulated lncRNA in metastatic ccRCC. quantitative real-time PCR was performed to measure the expression of lncRNAs in human ccRCC samples. Gain-of-function and loss-of-function experiments were performed to investigate the biological roles of lncRNAs on ccRCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion and in vivo metastasis. RNA pull-down, RNA immunoprecipitation, chromatin immunoprecipitation, and western blot were performed to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying the functions of lncRNAs.
The microarray analysis identified a novel lncRNA termed metastatic renal cell carcinoma-associated transcript 1 (MRCCAT1), which is highly expressed in metastatic ccRCC tissues and associated with the metastatic properties of ccRCC. Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that MRCCAT1 is an independent prognostic factor for ccRCC patients. Overexpression of MRCCAT1 promotes ccRCC cells proliferation, migration, and invasion. Depletion of MRCCAT1 inhibites ccRCC cells proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro, and ccRCC metastasis in vivo. Mechanistically, MRCCAT1 represses NPR3 transcription by recruiting PRC2 to NPR3 promoter, and subsequently activates p38-MAPK signaling pathway.
MRCCAT1 is a critical lncRNA that promotes ccRCC metastasis via inhibiting NPR3 and activating p38-MAPK signaling. Our results imply that MRCCAT1 could serve as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for ccRCC.

A new class of axially chiral styrene‐based thiourea tertiary amine catalysts, which have unique characteristics such as an efficient synthetic route, multiple chiral elements, and multiple ...activating groups, has been rationally designed. These new chiral catalysts have proven to be efficient organocatalysts, enabling the chemo‐, diastereo‐, and enantioselective (2+4) cyclization of 2‐benzothiazolimines with homophthalic anhydrides in good yields (up to 96 %) with excellent stereoselectivities (all >95:5 dr, up to 98 % ee). More importantly, theoretical calculations elucidated the important role of an axially chiral styrene moiety in controlling both the reactivity and enantioselectivity. This work not only represents the first design of styrene‐based chiral thiourea tertiary amine catalysts and the first catalytic asymmetric (2+4) cyclization of 2‐benzothiazolimines, but also gives an in‐depth understanding of axially chiral styrene‐based organocatalysts.

According to the published literature, we surmise that particulate matter (PM) concentration, individually, may be less important than components in explaining health effects. PM2.5 (aerodynamic ...diameter <2.5 μm) had similar cytotoxicity (e.g., cell viability reduction, oxidative damage, inflammatory effects and genetic toxicity) on different types of cells. The studies of cells are readily available for detailed mechanistic investigations, which is more appropriate for learning and comparing the mechanism caused by single or mixed ingredients coating a carbon core. No review exists that holistically examines the evidence from all components-based in vitro studies. We reviewed published studies that focus on the cytotoxicity of normal PM2.5. Those studies suggested that the toxicity of mixed compositions differs greatly from the single ingredients in mixed components and the target cells. The cytotoxic responses caused by PM2.5 components have not shown a consistent association with clear, specific health effects. The results may be beneficial for providing new targets for drugs for the treatment of PM2.5-related diseases.
Palladium‐catalyzed enantioselective dearomative arylalkynylation of N‐substituted indoles, through a Heck/Sonogashira sequence, was established using a new BINOL‐based phosphoramidite as the chiral ...ligand. A wide range of 2,3‐disubstituted indolines, bearing vicinal quaternary and tertiary stereocenters, were efficiently constructed in one step with excellent enantioselectivities (up to 97 % ee) and diastereoselectivities (>20:1).
Double the function: A highly enantioselective dearomative arylalkynylation of N‐substituted indoles with alkynes has been established by using palladium and a BINOL‐based phosphoramidite as the chiral ligand. A wide range of 2,3‐disubstituted indolines, bearing vicinal tertiary and quaternary stereocenters, were constructed in one step with excellent enantio‐ and diastereoselectivities.

Controllably constructing nitrogen-modified divacancies (ND) in carbon substrates to immobilize atomic Fe species and unveiling the advantageous configuration is still challenging, but indispensable ...for attaining optimal Fe-N-C catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Herein, a fundamental investigation of unfolding intrinsically superior edge-ND trapped atomic Fe motifs (e-ND-Fe) relative to an intact center model (c-ND-Fe) in ORR electrocatalysis is reported. Density functional theory calculations reveal that local electronic redistribution and bandgap shrinkage for e-ND-Fe endow it with a lower free-energy barrier toward direct four-electron ORR. Inspired by this, a series of atomic Fe catalysts with adjustable ND-Fe coordination are synthesized, which verify that ORR performance highly depends on the concentration of e-ND-Fe species. Remarkably, the best e-ND-Fe catalyst delivers a favorable kinetic current density and halfwave potential that can be comparable to benchmark Pt-C under acidic conditions. This work will guide to develop highly active atomic metal catalysts through rational defect engineering.

A palladium-catalyzed dearomative arylborylation of indoles is reported, which provides straightforward access to structurally diverse indolines bearing vicinal tetrasubstituted and borylated ...trisubstituted stereocenters in moderate to good yields with excellent diastereoselectivities. By using a BINOL-based chiral phosphoramidite ligand and an sp 2 –sp 3 mixed-boron reagent, an enantioselective dearomative arylborylation was achieved and chiral boron-containing products were accessed in up to 94% ee. Synthetic tranformations of the resulting organoborons were conducted to afford a number of unique indoline derivatives.

Colloidal all‐inorganic perovskites nanocrystals (NCs) have emerged as a promising material for display and lighting due to their excellent optical properties. However, blue emissive NCs usually ...suffer from low photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) and poor stability, rendering them the bottleneck for full‐color all‐perovskite optoelectronic applications. Herein, a facile approach is reported to enhance the emission efficiency and stability of blue emissive perovskite nano‐structures via surface passivation with potassium bromide. By adding potassium oleate and excess PbBr2 to the perovskite precursor solutions, potassium bromide‐passivated (KBr‐passivated) blue‐emitting (≈450 nm) CsPbBr3 nanoplatelets (NPLs) is successfully synthesized with a respectably high PLQY of 87%. In sharp contrast to most reported perovskite NPLs, no shifting in emission wavelength is observed in these passivated NPLs even after prolonged exposures to intense irradiations and elevated temperature, clearly revealing their excellent photo‐ and thermal‐stabilities. The enhancements are attributed to the formation of K‐Br bonding on the surface which suppresses ion migration and formation of Br‐vacancies, thus improving both the PL emission and stability of CsPbBr3 NPLs. Furthermore, all‐perovskite white light‐emitting diodes (WLEDs) are successfully constructed, suggesting that the proposed KBr‐passivated strategy can promote the development of the perovskite family for a wider range of optoelectronic applications.
High‐quality blue‐emitting CsPbBr3 nanoplatelets (NPLs) are synthesized via a facile potassium bromide‐enriched surface passivation. The resultant blue‐emitting (≈450 nm) CsPbBr3 NPLs show a high PLQY of 87% with excellent thermal stability and photostability. Furthermore, white light LEDs based on the mixture perovskite materials including the blue‐emitting NPLs are constructed, demonstrating a wide color gamut.

In situ growing transition metals on N‐doped carbon by atomic doping produces a class of promising alternatives to replace Pt‐based catalysts for redox reactions, yet still suffer from unsatisfactory ...activity and durability in acidic and basic media. Herein, a simple synthetic strategy to fabricate an MnO modifying Co‐Nx/C catalyst with high activity and robust durability is presented. The interphase engineering well controls the Co and N species in the carbon matrix, affording the material with more pyridine N and graphite N; the interaction between Co‐Nx and MnO phase is also well discussed. Accordingly, the obtained Co‐Nx/C‐MnO catalyst exhibits excellent electrocatalytic properties towards oxygen reduction reaction, achieving a half‐wave potential of 0.87 and 0.66 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in 0.1 m KOH and 0.1 m HClO4 solutions, as well as excellent durability with only −16.9 and −12.2 mV shift after 1000 cycles, respectively. This study provides insights into the design of noble‐metal‐free electrocatalysts from the perspective of active sites and catalyst carriers.
A simple two‐step solid‐phase method is illustrated to obtain the Co‐Nx/C‐MnO catalyst rich of active Co‐Nx moieties. It is unravelled that the Co dopant tunes the intrinsic valence state of Mn meanwhile the synergistic Mn‐Co‐Nx center attenuates the affinity of adsorbed species, thus facilitating oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) kinetics. Particularly, the acidic ORR stability of this catalyst is greatly enhanced by promoting the dissociation of intermediate OOH* and suppressing the H2O2 generation. This study provides a new idea for the design of high active and durable ORR catalysts for clean energy conversion.

Although evidence on the association between per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and human health outcomes has grown exponentially, specific health outcomes and their potential associations ...with PFASs have not been conclusively evaluated.
We conducted a comprehensive search through the databases of PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science from inception to February 29, 2024, to identify systematic reviews with meta-analyses of observational studies examining the associations between the PFASs and multiple health outcomes. The quality of included studies was evaluated using the A Measurement Tool to Assess Systematic Reviews (AMSTAR) tool, and credibility of evidence was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations (GRADE) criteria. The protocol of this umbrella review (UR) had been registered in PROSPERO (CRD 42023480817).
The UR identified 157 meta-analyses from 29 articles. Using the AMSTAR measurement tool, all articles were categorized as of moderate-to-high quality. Based on the GRADE assessment, significant associations between specific types of PFASs and low birth weight, tetanus vaccine response, and triglyceride levels showed high certainty of evidence. Moreover, moderate certainty of evidence with statistical significance was observed between PFASs and health outcomes including lower BMI z-score in infancy, poor sperm progressive motility, and decreased risk of preterm birth as well as preeclampsia. Fifty-two (33%) associations (e.g., PFASs and gestational hypertension, cardiovascular disease, etc) presented low certainty evidence. Additionally, eighty-five (55%) associations (e.g., PFASs with infertility, lipid metabolism, etc) presented very low certainty evidence.
High certainty of evidence supported that certain PFASs were associated with the incidence of low birth weight, low efficiency of the tetanus vaccine, and low triglyceride levels.
