As progenitors of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), the core collapse of massive stars and the coalescence of compact object binaries are believed to be powerful sources of gravitational waves (GWs). In the ...collapsar scenario, a rotating stellar-mass black hole (BH) surrounded by a hyperaccretion disk might be active in the center of a massive collapsar, which is one of the plausible central engines of long GRBs. Such a BH hyperaccretion disk would be in a state of a neutrino-dominated accretion flow (NDAF) at the initial stage of the accretion process; meanwhile, the jets attempt to break out from the envelope and circumstellar medium to power GRBs. In addition to collapsars, BH hyperaccretion systems are important sources of neutrinos and GWs. In this paper, we investigate the GW emission generated by the anisotropic neutrino emission from NDAFs in collapsar scenarios. As the results indicate, the typical frequency of GWs is ∼1-100 Hz, and the masses and metallicities of the progenitor stars have slight effects on the GW strains. The GWs from NDAFs might be detected by operational or planned detectors at a distance of 10 kpc. Moreover, comparisons of the detectable GWs from collapsars, NDAFs, and GRB jets (internal shocks) are displayed. By combining the electromagnetic counterparts, neutrinos, and GWs, one may constrain the characteristics of collapsars and central BH accretion systems.
Breast cancer is among the most common malignant cancers in women. B‐cell‐specific Moloney murine leukemia virus integration site 1 (BMI‐1) is a transcriptional repressor that has been shown to be ...involved in tumorigenesis, the cell cycle, and stem cell maintenance. In our study, increased expression of BMI‐1 was found in both human triple negative breast cancer and luminal A‐type breast cancer tissues compared with adjacent tissues. We also found that knockdown of BMI‐1 significantly suppressed cell proliferation and migration in vitro and in vivo. Further mechanistic research demonstrated that BMI‐1 directly bound to the promoter region of CDKN2D/BRCA1 and inhibited its transcription in MCF‐7/MDA‐MB‐231. More importantly, we discovered that knockdown of CDKN2D/BRCA1 could promote cell proliferation and migration after repression by PTC‐209. Our results reveal that BMI‐1 transcriptionally suppressed BRCA1 in TNBC cell lines whereas, in luminal A cell lines, CDKN2D was the target gene. This provides a reference for the precise treatment of different types of breast cancer in clinical practice.

Phase‐change materials (PCMs) are used in several energy recycling utilization systems due to their latent‐heat‐storage and ‐release ability. However, the inability of PCMs to release heat at ...temperatures below their freezing point limits their application in distributed energy utilization systems. This paper reports optically‐triggered low‐temperature heat release in PCMs based on a solid–liquid phase change (PC) controlled by the trans–cis (E–Z) photo‐isomerization of azobenzene. To achieve this, a photo‐responsive alkyl‐grafted Azo is incorporated into tetradecane (Ted) to create a photo‐sensitive energy barrier for the PC. The Azo/Ted composite exhibits controllable supercooling (4.04–8.80 °C) for heat storage and achieves synchronous heat release of PC enthalpy and photo‐thermal energy. In addition, the Azo reduces the crystallization of Ted by intercalating into its molecular alignment. Furthermore, under light illumination, the Azo/Ted composite releases considerable heat (207.5 J g−1) at relatively low temperatures (−1.96 to −6.71 °C). The temperature of the annular device fabricated for energy utilization increases by 4 °C in a low‐temperature environment (−5 °C). This study will pave the way for the design of advanced distributed energy systems that operate by controlling the energy storage/release of PCMs over a wide range of temperatures.
Phase‐change composites with high energy density, light‐controlled energy storage and utilization, and synchronous release phase‐change enthalpy and photo‐thermal energy at low temperatures are developed. An advanced energy system fabricated by an annular device containing this composite material enables optically triggered energy utilization and distribution, leading to the exceptional energy storage/release controllability of PCMs.

By thermal decomposition in the presence only of oleylamine, sub-10 nm hexagonal NaLuF4-based nanocrystals codoped with Gd3+, Yb3+, and Er3+ (or Tm3+) have been successfully synthesized. Sub-10 nm ...β-NaLuF4: 24 mol % Gd3+, 20 mol % Yb3+, 1 mol % Tm3+ nanocrystals display bright upconversion luminescence (UCL) with a quantum yield of 0.47 ± 0.06% under continuous-wave excitation at 980 nm. Furthermore, through the use of β-NaLuF4:Gd3+,Yb3+,Tm3+ nanocrystals as a luminescent label, the detection limit of <50 nanocrystal-labeled cells was achieved for whole-body photoluminescent imaging of a small animal (mouse), and high-contrast UCL imaging of a whole-body black mouse with a penetration depth of ∼2 cm was achieved.

To determine the impact of microvascular invasion (MVI) on outcome in patients with solitary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) of ≤ 2 cm undergoing liver resection (LR).
This retrospective study ...enrolled consecutive patients between 2007-2019 with newly diagnosed solitary HCC ≤ 2 cm who were undergoing LR at our institution. Overall survival (OS) and recurrent-free survival (RFS) were compared between patients with or without MVI.
Of the 229 patients included in this study, 71 had MVI. The median follow-up period was 28.8 months (interquartile range: 13.5-70.1). Although the 90-day mortality rate was 0, 18 deaths occurred during the study, and the 5-year survival rate was 87.1%. Tumor recurrence occurred in 45 cases, and 5-year RFS was 71.9%. The presence or absence of MVI did not significantly affect the OS and RFS rates (log rank test, p = 0.10 and 0.38, respectively). In univariate and multivariate analysis, the presence of MVI was not associated with OS and RFS.

Influence of surfactant on drop deformation and breakup is remarkable. So the transition condition of surfactant-laden drop between general bag breakup and shear breakup will be different from pure liquid. In this work, we investigate the influence of surfactant on drop breakup morphology in a continuous air jet stream, and find the physical mechanism of surfactant-laden drop atomization. Finally the predicted expression of transition Weber number is obtained.

En bloc resection of spinal tumors is challenging and associated with a high incidence of complications; however, it offers the potential to reduce the risk of recurrence when a wide margin is ...achieved. This research aims to investigate the safety and efficacy of en bloc resection in treating thoracic and lumbar chondrosarcoma/chordoma.
Data from patients diagnosed with chondrosarcoma and chordoma in the thoracic or lumbar region, who underwent total en bloc or piecemeal resection at our institution over a 7-year period, were collected and regularly followed up. The study analyzed overall perioperative complications and compared differences in complications and local tumor recurrence between the two surgical methods.
Seventeen patients were included, comprising 12 with chondrosarcoma and 5 with chordoma. Among them, 5 cases underwent intralesional piecemeal resection, while the remaining 12 underwent planned en bloc resection. The average surgical time was 684 min (sd = 287), and the mean estimated blood loss was 2300 ml (sd = 1599). Thirty-five complications were recorded, with an average of 2.06 perioperative complications per patient. 82% of patients (14/17) experienced at least one perioperative complication, and major complications occurred in 64.7% (11/17). Five patients had local recurrence during the follow-up, with a mean recurrence time of 16.2 months (sd = 7.2) and a median recurrence time of 20 months (IQR = 12.5). Hospital stays, operation time, blood loss, and complication rates did not significantly differ between the two surgical methods. The local recurrence rate after en bloc resection was lower than piecemeal resection, although not statistically significant (P = 0.067).
The complication rates between the two surgical procedures were similar. Considering safety and local tumor control, en bloc resection is recommended as the primary choice for patients with chondrosarcoma/chordoma in the thoracic and lumbar regions who are eligible for this treatment.

Tumor necrosis is a significant risk factor affecting patients' prognosis after liver resection (LR) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We aimed to develop a model with tumor necrosis as a variable ...to predict early tumor recurrence in HCC patients undergoing LR. Early tumor recurrence was observed in 161 (21.3%) patients. The concordance index of the proposed nomogram was 0.722. The calibration plots showed good agreement between nomogram predictions and actual observations of early recurrence. We developed a nomogram incorporating tumor necrosis to predict early recurrence of HCC after LR. Its predictive accuracy is satisfactory.

Abstract
Noise remains the major obstacle to scalable quantum computation. Quantum benchmarking provides key information on noise properties and is an important step for developing more advanced ...quantum processors. However, current benchmarking methods are either limited to a specific subset of quantum gates or cannot directly describe the performance of the individual target gate. To overcome these limitations, we propose channel spectrum benchmarking (CSB), a method to infer the noise properties of the target gate, including process fidelity, stochastic fidelity, and some unitary parameters, from the eigenvalues of its noisy channel. Our CSB method is insensitive to state-preparation and measurement errors, and importantly, can benchmark universal gates and is scalable to many-qubit systems. Unlike standard randomized schemes, CSB can provide direct noise information for both target native gates and circuit fragments, allowing benchmarking and calibration of global entangling gates and frequently used modules in quantum algorithms like Trotterized Hamiltonian evolution operator in quantum simulation.
