An 8-week feeding trial was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary n-3 highly unsaturated fatty acid (n-3HUFA) on growth performance, antioxidant capacity, fatty acid profiles, hematological ...characteristics and expression of some lipid related genes of juvenile black seabream (Acanthopagrus schlegelii) (initial weight 3.77±0.00g). Five isonitrogenous and isolipidic experimental diets were formulated with graded levels of n-3 HUFA (0.23, 0.87, 1.29, 1.75 and 2.53% of dry weight, DHA/EPA ratio approximately at 1.0). The results revealed that fish fed the diet containing 1.75% n-3 HUFA had higher weight gain (WG) and specific growth rate (SGR) than those fed the control diet. Fish fed diets containing 1.29% and 1.75% n-3 HUFA had higher feed efficiency (FE) than those fed the other diets. Hepatic and muscular fatty acid profiles reflected that of diets. The content of malondialdehyde (MDA) increased both in the serum and liver of fish fed high n-3 HUFA level diets, and the highest hepatic activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) was recorded in fish fed the diet containing 1.29% n-3 HUFA. The expression of accα, g6pd, fas, srebp-1, lpl, atgl, hsl, elovl5 and fads2 was down-regulated in fish fed the diets with high n-3 HUFA levels. However, the expression levels of 6pgd and pparα significantly increased when the dietary contents of n-3 HUFA increased from 0.23% to 1.29% and then decreased when dietary n-3 HUFA levels increased from 1.75% to 2.53%. The highest expression of cpt1a was found in fish fed the diet containing 1.75% n-3 HUFA. The content of cholesterol (CHOL) in serum increased along with n-3 HUFA level. Over all, this study indicated that fish fed moderate dietary n-3 HUFA (1.34–1.80% n-3 HUFA) could enhance growth, feed utilization and antioxidant capacity. Different dietary levels of n-3 HUFA could strongly affect expression levels of some lipid metabolism relevant genes of the juvenile black seabream. This may contribute to our understanding of the mechanisms related to lipid metabolism (anabolism and catabolism) effects of different dietary levels of n-3 HUFA.

In summary, inhibiting miR-222-3p in IECs attenuates oxidative stress by targeting BRG1 to activate the Nrf2/HO-1 signaling, thereby reducing colonic inflammation and tumorigenesis.
Pre‐eclampsia (PE) is a life‐threatening multisystem disorder leading to maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity. Emerging evidence showed that activation of the complement system is implicated ...in the pathological processes of PE. However, little is known about the detailed cellular and molecular mechanism of complement activation in the development of PE. In this study, we reported that complement 5a (C5a) plays a pivotal role in aberrant placentation, which is essential for the onset of PE. We detected an elevated C5a deposition in macrophages and C5a receptor (C5aR) expression in trophoblasts of pre‐eclamptic placentas. Further study showed that C5a stimulated trophoblasts towards an anti‐angiogenic phenotype by mediating the imbalance of angiogenic factors such as soluble fms‐like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt1) and placental growth factor (PIGF). Additionally, C5a inhibited the migration and tube formation of trophoblasts, while, C5aR knockdown with siRNA rescued migration and tube formation abilities. We also found that maternal C5a serum level was increased in women with PE and was positively correlated with maternal blood pressure and arterial stiffness. These results demonstrated that the placental C5a/C5aR pathway contributed to the development of PE by regulating placental trophoblasts dysfunctions, suggesting that C5a may be a novel therapeutic possibility for the disease.

A 12-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary vitamin E on growth performance, antioxidant status, innate immune response and resistance to Aeromonas hydrophila for ...juvenile yellow catfish, Pelteobagrus fulvidraco. Six practical diets were formulated to contain all-rac-α-tocopheryl equivalents of 8.9 (the basal diet), 19.6, 27.0, 39.7, 77.6 or 156.9mgkg−1, respectively. The results indicated that weight gain (WG), specific growth rate (SGR), feed efficiency (FE) and protein efficiency ratio (PER) were significantly influenced by the dietary vitamin E levels, the maximal WG, SGR, FE and PER occurred at fish fed the diet containing 39.7mgkg−1 vitamin E. Fish fed the diet containing 8.9mgkg−1 vitamin E had lower HSI than those fed the other diets. Red blood cells, leucocytes, hemoglobin, glucose and total cholesterol concentration in serum were not significantly influenced by the dietary vitamin E levels. However, fish fed the basal diet had lower hematocrit and higher triglyceride concentration in serum than those fed the diets with vitamin E supplementation. Moreover, fish fed the basal diet had lower activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase in serum than those fed diets supplemented with vitamin E. Malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration in serum decreased significantly when dietary vitamin E levels increased from 8.9 to 39.7mgkg−1. Fish fed the diet containing 39.7mgkg−1 vitamin E had higher lysozyme and respiratory burst activities in serum and the phagocytic index of head kidney than those fed the other diets. The challenge test with A. hydrophila revealed that fish fed the basal diet had lower cumulative survival than those fed diets supplemented with vitamin E. Based on two slope broken-line regression of SGR and lysozyme activity against dietary vitamin E levels, the optimal requirement of dietary vitamin E in juvenile yellow catfish was estimated to be 33 and 46mgkg−1 diet, respectively.
The manuscript addresses the effect of dietary vitamin E on growth performance, feed utilization, antioxidant status, innate immune and resistance to pathogen. Although this study investigated a common nutritional research topic, it still had somehow research originality because such nutritional topic has not been studied in yellow catfish yet. The results give some valuable data for this fish species. What's more, the information obtained from the present study would be helpful in developing commercial diets for this species.

The 3 beta- and steroid delta-isomerase 1 (HSD3B1) gene has a great influence on reproductive traits and therefore has been widely studied. However, little is known about the relationships between ...polymorphisms of the HSD3B1 gene and laying traits in Taihang chickens. Therefore, the HSD3B1 gene was selected for polymorphism detection and analysis of its relationship with laying performance traits. The mRNA expression levels of HSD3B1 in 16 tissues of Taihang chickens were detected, and the HSD3B1 gene was SNP screened and genotyped, and associated with laying traits. The results showed that the HSD3B1 gene was widely expressed. The HSD3B1 expression level was highest in F1 follicles, lowest in small white follicles, and differentially expressed in large follicles with small yellow follicles. The C274T allele was moderately polymorphic in Taihang chickens, and the age of opening day was significantly earlier for the CC genotype than for other genotypes. The present results demonstrate that the homozygous CC genotype can be considered a genotype for molecular marker-assisted selection (MAS) to improve the breeding efficiency of Taihang chickens.
Taihang chickens are a domestic breed distributed throughout Hebei province in the Taihang Mountains of China and are characterized by their high meat and egg quality. However, the relatively limited ...egg production by this breed constrains their more widespread commercial utilization. The follicle selection process is closely linked to oocyte development and ovulation, making it a key determinant of laying performance and fecundity in hens. To understand the biological basis for such follicle selection and to identify the associated regulatory pathways, we conducted a genome-wide analysis of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and mRNAs from the pre-hierarchical follicles and hierarchical follicles of Taihang laying hens. We identified 81 lncRNAs and 528 mRNAs that were differentially expressed during follicle selection, and integrated network analyses suggested that these RNAs were associated with the cell cycle, focal adhesion, oocyte meiosis, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor signaling, and steroid hormone biosynthesis pathways. The identified lncRNAs were also predicted to influence a series of target genes in cis and trans, suggesting that they may be important regulators of ovarian follicular development. Overall, the present analysis of lncRNA and mRNA expression patterns associated with ovarian follicle development offers a new foundation for future studies of reproductive physiology in Taihang chickens, highlighting new opportunities to improve the laying performance of this important domestic breed.

An 8-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of different dietary arachidonic acid (ARA) levels on growth performance, fatty acid composition, hepatic intermediary metabolism and ...antioxidant responses for juvenile yellow catfish. An ARA-enriched oil was supplemented into the basal diet to formulate six iso-nitrogenous and iso-energetic practical diets containing 0.03% (the control diet), 0.30%, 0.60%, 0.90%, 1.20% and 1.50% of dry weight. Dietary ARA levels were 0.39%, 2.47%, 4.96%, 7.49%, 9.79% and 12.64% total fatty acids, respectively. Triplicate groups of 20 fish (average initial weight is about 1.55±0.01g) were fed to apparent satiation twice daily. The results indicated that fish fed the diets containing 4.96% and 7.49% ARA of total fatty acids have higher final body weight and percent weight gain (PWG) than those fed the other diets. Survival, feed conversion ratio, hepatosomatic index and viscerosomatic index were not significantly influenced by the dietary ARA levels. Fatty acid compositions both in liver and muscle reflected closely those of fatty acid profiles in diets, ARA proportion in liver and muscle significantly increased with dietary ARA levels increasing from 0.39% to 12.64% of total fatty acids, while, EPA proportion in liver significantly decreased with increase of dietary ARA levels. Fish fed the control diet had the highest aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and glucose content in serum among all treatments, and fish fed the 9.79% and 12.64% ARA of total fatty acids had higher malondialdehyde (MDA) content in liver than those fed the other diets. However, the activities of total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) and catalase (CAT) in liver were not significantly influenced by dietary ARA levels. The relative gene expression of accα, g6pd, 6pgd and evovl5 in liver down-regulated significantly with the dietary ARA levels increasing from 0.39% to 12.64% of total fatty acids. The relative gene expression of atgl and hslb in liver down-regulated significantly with the dietary ARA levels increasing from 0.39% to 7.49% of total fatty acids, and then up-regulated as dietary ARA levels increasing from 9.79% to 12.64%. However, relative gene expression of cpt1a and ppara in liver are down-regulated in ARA supplemental groups. These results suggested that dietary moderate ARA levels (4.96% and 7.49% of total fatty acids) could improve growth performance and antioxidant response, and up-regulate or down-regulate relative expression levels of some lipid metabolism-related gene in liver. Two slope broken-line regression analysis of PWG against dietary ARA levels indicated that optimal dietary ARA requirement for juvenile yellow catfish was 6.45% of total fatty acids.
•Dietary ARA improved growth performance and antioxidant status in yellow catfish.•Dietary ARA influenced tissue FA profiles, ARA content in liver and muscle increased with dietary ARA levels increasing.•Dietary ARA inhibited fat accumulation as well as acca and cpt1a gene expression.

Abstract
Background
With the global spread of COVID-19, detecting high-risk countries/regions timely and dynamically is essential; therefore, we sought to develop automatic, quantitative and scalable ...analysis methods to observe and estimate COVID-19 spread worldwide and further generate reliable and timely decision-making support for public health management using a comprehensive modeling method based on multiple mathematical models.
Methods
We collected global COVID-19 epidemic data reported from January 23 to September 30, 2020, to observe and estimate its possible spread trends. Countries were divided into three outbreak levels: high, middle, and low. Trends analysis was performed by calculating the growth rate, and then country grouping was implemented using group-based trajectory modeling on the three levels. Individual countries from each group were also chosen to further disclose the outbreak situations using two predicting models: the logistic growth model and the SEIR model.
Results
All 187 observed countries' trajectory subgroups were identified using two grouping strategies: with and without population consideration. By measuring epidemic trends and predicting the epidemic size and peak of individual countries, our study found that the logistic growth model generally estimated a smaller epidemic size than the SEIR model. According to SEIR modeling, confirmed cases in each country would take an average of 9–12 months to reach the outbreak peak from the day the first case occurred. Additionally, the average number of cases at the peak time will reach approximately 10–20% of the countries’ populations, and the countries with high trends and a high predicted size must pay special attention and implement public health interventions in a timely manner.
Conclusions
We demonstrated comprehensive observations and predictions of the COVID-19 outbreak in 187 countries using a comprehensive modeling method. The methods proposed in this study can measure COVID-19 development from multiple perspectives and are generalizable to other epidemic diseases. Furthermore, the methods also provide reliable and timely decision-making support for public health management.

In the present study, the cDNA of fatty acid-binding protein (Pt-FABP1) from the hepatopancreas of swimming crab (Portunus trituberculatus) was cloned by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE) ...approaches. The full-length cDNA of Pt-fabp1 was 730bp and encoded a 130 amino acids polypeptide that was highly homologous to related genes from other crustacean. Quantitative PCR analysis revealed that Pt-fabp1 expression was detected in various tissues, and the highest expression levels was occurred in the hepatopancreas. The Pt-fabp1 expression levels in the ovary would depend on the stages of ovarian development, and the expression of Pt-fabp1 reached the maximum at the stage IV. The effects of dietary soybean lecithin (SL) on the Pt-fabp1 and vitellogenin (VTG) expression, and steroid hormones levels were investigated. After 16weeks of feeding, the results showed that the expression level of Pt-fabp1 in hepatopancreas and the content of progesterone (PG) in hemolymph did significantly increase with dietary SL supplementation up to 2% (P<0.05). Swimming crab fed the diet containing 4% SL had higher hepatopancreas vtg gene expression and the content of 17 β-estradiol (E2) in hemolymph than those fed the control diet (P<0.05). This study suggested that Pt-FABP may have a positive function in ovary maturation of female swimming crab. Meanwhile, these results not only demonstrated that the gene expression of Pt-fabp1 and vtg in hepatopancreas can be modulated by dietary SL levels, but also clearly supported the hypothesis that the positive effects of dietary SL on the ovarian development of female swimming crab.

We aimed to build a common terminology in the domain of cervical cancer, named Cervical Cancer Common Terminology (CCCT), that will facilitate clinical data exchange, ensure quality of data and ...support large scale data analysis.
The standard concepts and relations of CCCT were collected from ICD-10-CM Chinese Version, ICD-9-PC Chinese Version, officially issued commonly used Chinese clinical terms, Chinese guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer and Chinese medical book Lin Qiaozhi Gynecologic Oncology. 2062 cervical cancer electronic medical records (EMRs) from 16 hospitals, belong to different regions and hospital tiers, were collected for terminology enrichment and building common terms and relations. Concepts hierarchies, terms and relationships were built using Protégé. The performance of natural language processing results was evaluated by average precision, recall, and F1-score. The usability of CCCT were evaluated by terminology coverage.
A total of 880 standard concepts, 1182 common terms, 16 relations and 6 attributes were defined in CCCT, which organized in 6 levels and 11 classes. Initial evaluation of the natural language processing results demonstrated average precision, recall, and F1-score percentages of 96%, 72.6%, and 88.5%. The average terminology coverage for three classes of terms, clinical manifestation, treatment, and pathology, were 87.22%, 92.63%, and 89.85%, respectively. Flexible Chinese expressions exist between regions, traditions, cultures, and language habits within the country, linguistic variations in different settings and diverse translation of introduced western language terms are the main reasons of uncovered terms.
Our study demonstrated the initial results of CCCT construction. This study is an ongoing work, with the update of medical knowledge, more standard clinical concepts will be added in, and with more EMRs to be collected and analyzed, the term coverage will be continuing improved. In the future, CCCT will effectively support clinical data analysis in large scale.
