•The stretchable supercapacitor was fabracated by CNT-MnO2 nanosheet composite film.•A coaxial yarn asymmetric supercapacitor based on MnO2//FeSe2 was constructed.•The asymmetric supercapacitor exhibited a high energy density of 27.14 Wh kg−1.
Rapid development of wearable electronics has created tremendous demand for miniature energy storage devices with many different architectures. Ideally, very large area high-performance electrode materials are continuously produced at high speed, which are later constructed into flexible supercapacitors of different shapes and sizes. Here we report the synthesis of very large area MnO2 nanosheets on a 10 µm thin carbon nanotube film using a facile hydrothermal reaction. The strong and flexible CNT-MnO2 nanosheet composite film demonstrates excellent faradaic pseudocapacitance when used as electrodes for flexible supercapacitors that can be reconfigured from planar supercapacitor to stretchable threadlike supercapacitors. A narrow strip of the CNT-MnO2 electrode can also be scrolled and twisted together with a negative electrode fabricated by synthesizing FeSe2 nanonuts on a carbon fibre to construct a novel coaxial yarn asymmetric supercapacitor. This architecture has shown a very high energy density up to 27.14 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 571.3 W kg−1 and a good capacity retention after 8000 galvanostatic charge-discharge cycles, together with excellent flexibility and long lifespan.

Recent studies found that the circulating high-mobility group box 1 (HMGB1) levels could reflect the disease activity of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV). HMGB1 ...could prime neutrophils by increasing ANCA antigens translocation for ANCA-mediated respiratory burst and degranulation. The current study aimed to investigate whether HMGB1 participates in ANCA-induced neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) formation, which is one of the most important pathogenic aspects in the development of AAV.
NETs were induced by treating neutrophils with HMGB1 and ANCA-positive IgG in vitro. NETs formation was assessed using immunofluorescence microscopy and fluorescence probe. Antagonist for relevant receptors Toll-like receptor (TLR)2, TLR4 and the receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE), as well as NADPH oxidase molecules were employed.
The percentage of NETs formation was significantly higher in neutrophils stimulated with HMGB1 plus ANCA-positive IgG than that in neutrophils incubated with HMGB1 or ANCA-positive IgG alone. Consistently, compared with the nonstimulated neutrophils, the cell-free DNA (cfDNA) concentration of NETs was significantly increased from 334.09 ± 46.89 ng/ml to 563.32 ± 122.07 ng/ml in the neutrophils incubated with HMGB1 plus MPO-ANCA-positive IgG (P < 0.001), and from 303.44 ± 37.14 ng/ml to 563.79 ± 145.94 ng/ml in the neutrophils incubated with HMGB1 plus PR3-ANCA-positive IgG (P < 0.001). The aforementioned effect was significantly attenuated by antagonist for relevant receptors TLR2, TLR4 and RAGE, as well as blocking NADPH oxidase.
HMGB1 can potentiate ANCA-inducing NETs formation and may be involved in the pathogenesis of AAV. HMGB1 exerts effects on NETs formation through interaction with TLR2, TLR4 and RAGE, and the process is NADPH oxidase dependent.

The Salen unit represents one of the most important ligands in coordination chemistry. We report herein the first example of a Salen-based covalent organic framework (COF), in which both the ...construction of the COF structure and the functionalization with Salen moieties have been realized in a single step. Due to its structural uniqueness, the obtained COF material, Salen-COF, possesses high crystallinity and excellent stability. Based on this, a series of metallo-Salen-based COFs were prepared via metalation for further applications.

Objectives
Previous studies have suggested a potential link between poly(rC)‐binding protein 1 (PCBP1) and neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's disease (PD). However, the precise role of ...PCBP1 in the pathogenesis of PD remains unclear. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to investigate the neuroprotective effects of PCBP1 in a PD model.
Methods
To evaluate the neuroprotective potential of PCBP1, we conducted cell count assays and observed the expression of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) in SH‐SY5Y cells exposed to 6‐OHDA‐induced neurotoxicity. Additionally, we utilized recombinant adeno‐associated virus (rAAV2) vectors encoding PCBP1 or EGFP, which were injected into the rat striatum. After 2 weeks of vector or saline injection, 6‐OHDA was administered to the rat striatum. Behavioral assessments using the open field test (OFT) were performed weekly for 7 weeks. At the seventh week after 6‐OHDA injection, immunohistochemistry and protein expression analyses were conducted in the three groups.
Results
The results indicated that PCBP1 treatment significantly reduced the proliferation of 6‐OHDA‐induced SH‐SY5Y cells. Additionally, in surviving cells, overexpression of PCBP1 enhanced the expression of HSP70. Similarly, rAAV2 vectors effectively delivered PCBP1 into the brain, resulting in sustained expression of rAAV2‐PCBP1‐EGFP. In the OFT, PCBP1 exhibited significant improvements in behavioral abnormalities and reduced anxiety in the PD model rats (p < .01). Moreover, PCBP1 effectively prevented the decrease of tyrosine hydroxylase and HSP70 expression in the lesioned side induced by 6‐OHDA (p < .01). Consistent with expectations, PCBP1 efficiently protected against cell death caused by 6‐OHDA (p < .01).
Conclusions
In conclusion, our findings provide compelling evidence for the beneficial effects of PCBP1 in the PD model, suggesting that PCBP1 could be a potential therapeutic target for PD.
The graphic outlines the chronological sequence of experimental procedures for surgery and testing across the three animal groups. In the neuroprotection study, lesioning of the midbrain dopaminergic (DAergic) system occurred two weeks after viral vector injections using 6‐OHDA. Following this, Open Field Testing (OFT) observations were conducted weekly for seven consecutive weeks, with continuous recording. Subsequently, euthanasia was administered, and relevant immunohistochemical (IHC) and Western blot (WB) parameters were assessed.

Summary
On‐site sample preparation has the advantage of combining sampling and sample preparation into a single step, thereby minimising sources of error, and eliminating the risk of analyte ...instability. Bubble‐driven solid‐phase microextraction (BD‐SPME) was first proposed as an on‐site pretreatment method. Oyster sauce underwent on‐site pretreatment to measure potassium sorbate levels via high‐performance liquid chromatography with a diode array detector (HPLC‐DAD), obviating the need for stirrers. The high sensitivity of the HPLC determination of potassium sorbate was obtained using BD‐SPME pretreatment with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.03 mg L−1 and a limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.10 mg L−1. The refined technique displayed remarkable linearity from 0.10 to 30.00 mg L−1, boasting a coefficient of determination R2 ≥ 0.998. In addition, the recoveries of potassium sorbate in oyster sauce using the method were in the range of 90.8–101.4%. Evidently, BD‐SPME in combination with HPLC‐DAD is a sensitive and promising analysis for on‐site pretreatment.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a class of newly-identified non-coding RNA that lack 5’ (cap) and 3’ (polyadenylation) ends and are linked by a covalent bond to form a closed loop structure. In ...comparison to linear RNAs, circRNAs are more resistant to exonuclease RNase R-mediated degradation with a much stronger stability due to the absence of 3’ terminals. Consequently, the extraordinary nature of circRNAs enables it to be potentially used as a biomarker and gene targeting. Similarly, circRNAs can play a significant regulatory role in gene expression where it can indirectly regulate the expression of the downstream target genes of microRNAs (miRNAs) by miRNA sponges. The aim of this review is to highlight the function of circRNAs as well as their vital roles in the central nervous system (CNS) regulation and neurological diseases.
