A democratic national system involves a process by which national leadership is recruited. National leadership has significant authority over the formulation of governmental policies, including those ...concerned with sports development. Current and historical Indonesian sports policy development illustrates and enables the evaluation of how the democratic process generates national leadership. Indonesian leadership history is divided into the three following orders: (1) The Old Order (1945-1967) (led by President Soekarno), (2) the New Order (1967-1998) (led by President Soeharto), and (3) the Reform Order (1998-present) (led by five presidents, as follows: Habibie, Gus Dur, Megawati, SBY, and Joko Widodo). An assessment of relevant historical facts indicates that the government plays a perennial and strategic role in sports policy development. This study performed an analysis of Indonesian sports legislation and determined that the government supports increased control over local decision-making.

Background Problems: The educational disruptions and suspension of athletic competitions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic presented sports coaches with unique challenges in maintaining coaching and ...training activities for the athletes. Research Objectives: This study aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the experiences of physical education teachers who are also coaches in sports coaching amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: The study was qualitative, utilising a descriptive phenomenological design. Five participants willingly took part in an in-depth interview, ensuring the protection of informant data and maintaining anonymity. The instrument used was a semi-structured interview guide recorded via video and transcribed using Microsoft Word. Informed consent was obtained before the interview, and data analysis followed Collaizi's descriptive phenomenology for collecting, reducing, presenting, verifying, and concluding the data. Findings/Results: The findings of the study revealed several sports coaching predicaments: connectivity and communication issues, physical training conflict, administrative concerns, and psychosocial problems. Additionally, potential strategies were also revealed: connectivity and communication strategy, modified training method, administrative outsourcing initiative, and psychosocial initiative. Based on the results of the study, a proposed sports coaching intervention plan is highly recommended for utilisation to address several predicaments that emerged. Conclusion: Research shows that in grappling with pandemic-related challenges, coaches play a crucial role in maximising athletes' potential, necessitating a blend of skills and emotional resilience as they formulate effective coaching strategies for the predicaments encountered. Generally, this can contribute to more effective and well-rounded sports coaching, ultimately benefiting the athletes and the overall success of sports coaching and the school's sport-related programmes.
The development of life skills through sport has become an interesting issue in research studies over the last few decades. Life skills are one of the variables that are the focus of the Positive ...Youth Development (PYD) program through sports activities, with the hope that youth sports involvement can lead to results that are classified into 3Ps: performance, participation, and personal development. This research aims to examine coaches' perceptions of developing life skills in coaching badminton. A total of 47 coaches consisting of 10 badminton clubs in the West Java region were used as participants in this research, consisting of 30 male coaches and 17 female coaches with an average length of training (M=5.7 years; SD=3.3), and average age. (M=25.4 years; SD=6.2). The data were obtained through a survey related to the cognitive level of the low-level thinking skills (LOTS) category, namely knowledge, understanding and application of basic life skills concepts, as well as perceptions regarding the need for life skill components in badminton regarding the eight dimensions developed by Cronin & Allen (2017) consisting of 1) timework, 2) goal setting, 3) social skills, 4) problem-solving, 5) emotional skills, 6) leadership, 7) time management, 8) interpersonal communication. The data measurement results were analyzed using percentage analysis and multiple regression to see the contribution of the life skill dimensions in badminton. The results of the analysis proved that the coaches' perceptions of developing life skills in badminton were still not comprehensive. There were still coaches who did not know, understand, and integrate life skills in coaching badminton. In addition, the results of the regression model analysis showed that all the dimensional constructs assessed had different contributions. However, the eight dimensions referred to were considered dimensions needed in coaching badminton. Thus, it can be concluded that life skills are perceived as important by coaches to be integrated with badminton sports development. Therefore, the results of this preliminary study provide a very important picture regarding the need to develop a badminton sports development program by integrating life skills in the training process, with the hope of having a positive impact on youth development, especially through badminton sports development.

Elementary school-age children have started thinking logically and rationally; therefore, they need to be stimulated to think in a higher order. Higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) can help students ...think critically and creatively, solve problems and find solutions. Therefore, physical education teachers must participate in stimulating students' HOTS. This research aims to determine differences in physical education teachers' attitudes (certified and non-certified) based on gender, age and length of service toward HOTS stimulation in students. The method used in this research is comparative. The research sample consisted of certified and non-certified physical education teachers who taught in elementary schools in West Sumatra province, Indonesia, with 105 people (male = 77 and female = 28) aged 23-59 years. They were selected using accidental sampling. The instrument to measure stimulating higher-order thinking skills uses a Likert scale questionnaire consisting of 16 items. Data analysis was carried out using the Mann-Whitney U Test and Kruskal-Wallis H. The results of the study showed that differences in the attitudes of certified and non-certified teachers obtained a p-value < .05, while comparisons based on gender, age and work experience had a p-value> .05. So it can be concluded that the attitudes of certified and non-certified teachers towards HOTS stimulation are significantly different, while based on gender, age and length of service their attitudes towards HOTS stimulation are not significantly different. This study aims to examine the implementation of community sports development policies in the context of the "development through sport" paradigm. National development through sports in accordance ...with the mandate of the Sports Law can be started through community sports which are the basis for the goals of developing the sport itself. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. This research was conducted in West Java Province using a purposive sampling technique referring to the high sports achievements achieved at the National Sports Week, but it is still low in the sports development index. Interviews, documentation studies, and observations were carried out in the data collection process. To analyze the data collected, we devised seven indicators that are based on the essence of the sports law of the community sports section. The results of this study found that the implementation of the community sports development policy that was implemented was close to conformity with what was stated in the sports law. However, there are still inequalities in some aspects. This happens because there is still a lack of understanding from the government as policy makers, as well as the community as a group affected by the implementation of policies of the importance of sport as an instrument of national development. Therefore, sports policy makers must act immediately in providing solutions to evaluate policies that will be implemented in the future.

Social values are views/rules adopted in human life that are considered good or bad, right or wrong, and beautiful or not beautiful. Social values are used as a way to be able to respect yourself and ...also other people around you. The purpose of this study is to examine the differences in the results of developing social values through sports activities. The sports activities in question are individual sports (athletics) and team sports (football). The method used in this research is an experiment with a multiple treatment and control design with pretest-posttest. Researchers made an instrument called the social values scale for sport. This study took a sample of students who were carrying out athletic and football learning. There are 4 groups, each group consisting of 30 students. The sample was divided into four groups consisting of 1) intentionally structuring athletics, 2) non-intentionally structuring athletics, 3) intentionally structuring football, and 4) non-intentionally structuring football. In this study, it was found that there was a significant difference in results between the learning groups (athletics and football) intentionally structuring on improving social values or by obtaining a p-value <0.001, which means that there really is a significant difference in the group compared to the learning group (athletics and football) non-intentionally structuring. So, it can be concluded that athletic and football sports activities are a good means to shape social values through intentional structuring. This has an influence on improving outcomes since they not only gain strong talents, but they also ideally develop social values as a provision for our young generation to continue to participate in this globalized competition.
