A design criterion for achieving the input-output decoupling of multivariable feedback systems and the robust stabilization of systems with time-varying nonlinear uncertainties is outlined. Moreover, ...by applying the minimum H/sup infinity /-norm and the optimal interpolation technique, an effective design algorithm is presented to achieve the robust optimization of multivariable feedback systems subjected to time-varying nonlinear uncertainties. Since the requirements of internal stability are satisfied, the proposed design algorithm performs appropriately, even if the plant is unstable and/or nonminimum phase. From the result of the robust optimization, one can predict the maximum sector bounds of nonlinear uncertainties that can be tolerated in the feedback system.< >
A method for signature description based on the human way of recognizing objects is introduced. Like humans, this method first recognizes objects globally and then recognizes finer details. The ...description is hierarchical: the signature is at the top level, and each lower level gives more details about the higher one. Features are extracted in a relative way (e.g. the length is measured by its ratio to the width) to make the method insensitive to the natural variations that occur in genuine signatures, and are mapped into a conceptual description. This conceptual description is then used to classify the signature images.< >
Faced with a changing economic environment (poor functioning of the groundnut sector, economic liberalization, etc.), rural households seek first and foremost to secure food for their families by ...diversifying their production and their economic activities in the village and in urban centres through temporary migration. In this context, the farm seen as an institution cannot be considered as a company in the sense of the classical economic theory. It corresponds more to a system of activities whose operation takes into account both market and family objectives. After looking at the concept of institution and its application to the family farm, this paper highlights the changes that have taken place in groundnut farms in terms of social organisation and operation. In addition, envisaging the family farm as an institution, the authors show how the coordination pattern has evolved within the farm and the family as a whole.
Face aux changements de l’environnement économique (dysfonctionnement de la filière arachide, désengagement de l’État, etc.), les ménages ruraux recherchent avant tout la sécurité alimentaire de leur famille en diversifiant leurs productions et leurs activités économiques au village et dans les centres urbains grâce à la migration temporaire. Dans ce contexte, l’exploitation agricole, vue comme une institution, ne peut pas être considérée comme une entreprise, au sens de la théorie économique classique. Elle correspond plus à un système d’activités dont le fonctionnement tient compte des logiques marchandes et familiales. Après un éclairage sur le concept d’institution et son application à l’exploitation agricole familiale, nous préciserons les changements survenus dans les exploitations du Bassin arachidier en termes d’organisation sociale et de fonctionnement. Ensuite, en considérant l’exploitation agricole comme une institution, nous montrerons comment la nature des formes de coordination a évolué au sein de l’exploitation et de la famille élargie.
