The purpose of the current study was to explore social and cognitive relationships among students when they are solving complex cognitive tasks in online discussion forums (self-regulated). An online ...course targeting interventions for risk behaviors was developed in the Virtual Campus of Andalusia, Spain. A total of 9878 units of meaning posted in 96 online discussion forums during three academic years (2010–11, 2011–12 and 2012–13) were analyzed through the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework. The degree to which online tasks at three different levels of cognitive demand (analyze, evaluate and create) triggered cognitive and social processes were examined. The results indicate that there was a specific increasing trend in the frequency of cognitive and social activity according to the requirement of the task. This study also found that the nature of the learning task modulated the different components of social and cognitive presence in these contexts.
•Social and cognitive presences in university students when they participate in CoI and perform higher cognitive tasks.•The tasks were based on the skills that are present in the top three categories of the revision of Bloom's taxonomy.•With the increase of the task's level of demand, there was an increase in the frequency of involvement by the group members.•There were high correlation levels among the categories of social presence and cognitive presence in the three tasks.•Social actions increased with the increased requirements for the task in online learning groups.

There are few studies devoted to analyze the relationships between the structure of the social network and performance in the online learning process as group. In this study, the Community of Inquiry ...(CoI) model is used as an analytical framework, along with quantitative content analysis and social network analysis, in order to identify the effect of density, centralization, and centrality—of the coordinators—in the different categories of CoI model in self-regulated groups, according to the type of task. Over a period of 3 academic years, a total of 96 discussion forums and 7,155 units of analysis were analyzed, focusing on two types of tasks. The results showed that the effects of the density, centralization, and centrality of the coordinators on the categories of social and cognitive presence were moderated by the type of task. The findings contribute to identify the adequate structure of the social network for the CoI model categories and the learning tasks.

Social relations are an essential component of group learning online, because through them, the process is managed and controlled. In addition, learning cannot be understood in isolation from its ...situated nature. To identify patterns of participation and social connections in online group learning, this study analyzes the social network among university students who work in online discussion forums and are required to solve higher order learning tasks. Discussion forums were used, focusing on three types of tasks: analyzing case studies, evaluating websites, and creating WebQuest. The structures of social networks that arose out of 96 discussion forums over three academic years were analyzed. The results demonstrate that as the opening (lower level of structuration) of the learning task increases, so too does the need for social interaction in the group. The social structure of the groups is modulated by the type of learning task. Finally, the educational implications of the results are discussed.

La Educación Ambiental es considerada como una educación integral para todas las personas en un ámbito que comprende todos los contextos de la vida. En nuestra sociedad, existe una gran variedad de ...materiales y recursos con los que se puede desarrollar una Educación Ambiental para que resulte cercana y útil al alumnado en su día a día. Pero no todos los recursos con los que se cuentan son válidos o se utilizan correctamente. Por este motivo, la presente investigación trata de comprobar la validez de la publicidad que se muestra en televisión como recurso dentro de la Educación Ambiental. Para ello, se ha llevado a cabo un análisis exhaustivo de la publicidad actual que se muestra a menores en televisión. Así, se ha utilizado una metodología observacional complementada con diversos instrumentos de medida. A través del análisis observacional y con los resultados del cuestionario recogido en un entorno ambiental como la granja-escuela Huerto Alegre, se ha intentado averiguar si con la publicidad de corte ambiental se siguen los principios de la educación ambiental o, si por el contrario, solo se busca vender unos determinados productos catalogados como “verdes”.
Este artículo de investigación muestra los resultados de una investigación sobre competencia mediática de niños españoles de 4, 5 y 6 años. El objetivo principal es analizar el nivel de competencia ...mediática que alcanzan los niños de infantil en cada una de las dimensiones que la componen. En concreto, estas dimensiones son: lenguaje, tecnología, procesos de interacción, procesos de producción y difusión, estética e ideología y valores. La población de estudio corresponde a 274 niños y niñas de 4, 5 y 6 años de edad. Los resultados obtenidos indican los distintos niveles de competencia que los niños alcanzan en cada una de las dimensiones analizadas.

This article presents the results of a research on the media competence of Spanish children of 4-6 years old. The main objective is to analyze the level of media competence that boys and girls have ...in each of the dimensions that compose it. Specifically, these dimensions are: language, technology, interaction processes, production and dissemination processes, aesthetics, ideology and values. The study is composed by 274 boys and girls of 4-6 years. Results indicate the different levels of competence that boys and girls reach in each of the analyzed dimensions.
This paper analyzes the educational reality of Los Andes area with respect to the technological knowledge that teachers have in the field of new technologies (ICT), it also seeks to know the ...resources they have in the classroom and the use they make of them. In the study an analytical and quasi-experimental methodology has been used through several surveys (pretest and postest). The data obtained are intended to justify the use of ICT in schools and the knowledge that the participating teachers possess. In addition, attention is focused on the importance of ICTs in the education curriculum in Chile and the pedagogical programs and strategies that exist in Chile.
En un momento en el cual la tecnología se concibe como un elemento básico e indispensable que está omnipresente en la sociedad, una herramienta fundamental para comunicarnos, resulta indiscutible su incursión en la escuela. El presente trabajo analiza la realidad educativa de la zona de Los Andes respecto a los conocimientos tecnológicos que el profesorado posee en el ámbito de las nuevas tecnologías (TIC), además busca conocer los recursos con los que cuentan en el aula y el uso que realizan de los mismos. En el estudio ha participado el profesorado de una escuela de de la comuna de los Andes en Chile y se ha utilizado una metodología analítica y cuasi experimental a través de varias encuestas (pretest y postest). Los datos obtenidos pretenden justificar el uso de las TIC en las escuelas y el conocimiento que las personas educadoras participantes poseen. Además de ello, focaliza la atención el peso que las TIC tienen en el currículo de educación en Chile y los programas y estrategias pedagógicas existentes en el país.
RESUMEN El pensamiento del profesorado está influenciado por su formación inicial, sus características personales y el contexto en el que se desenvuelve, siendo su experiencia práctica crucial para ...que determinadas creencias se modifiquen al configurar su identidad profesional docente. Se analiza el impacto que el practicum puede tener en la formación de los maestros respecto a sus creencias sobre la relación familia-escuela. Para ello se aplicó un cuestionario a 203 maestros españoles en formación del grado de educación infantil y primaria. Los resultados muestran que existen cambios sustanciales en su pensamiento tras su experiencia en los centros educativos. Sus creencias sobre la importancia de la relación familia-escuela se refuerzan, así como la importancia de la acción tutorial y se valoran significativamente los nuevos canales de comunicación. Las conclusiones enfatizan la necesidad de generar una actitud crítica y reflexiva en el profesorado desde su formación inicial.
ABSTRACT The teachers thought is influenced by their initial training, personal characteristics and the context in which it operates, and it is crucial to certain beliefs to be modified when configuring their teaching professional identity. Impact that practicum elaboration can have regarding their beliefs about the family-school relationship is analyzed. A questionnaire was applied to 203 Spanish students in the grade of teacher training of primary and early childhood education. The results show that there are substantial changes in the way of thinking after their experience in schools. Beliefs about the importance of family-school relationship are reinforced, so as the importance they concede to the guidance and tutorial action and the new channels of communication present between families and school for interacting are significantly valued. Conclusions emphasize the need to generate a critical attitude towards the teachers from their first contact with teaching.
RESUMO O pensamento dos professores é influenciado pela formação inicial, por características pessoais e pelo contexto em que opera, sendo a sua experiência prática crucial para que certas crenças sejam modificadas ao configurar sua identidade profissional docente. O impacto que o estágio pode ter na formação dos professores no que diz respeito às suas crenças sobre a relação família-escola é analisado. Para esse fim, um questionário foi aplicado a 203 estudantes espanhóis na fase de estágio profissional na formação de professores da educação infantil e ensino primário. Os resultados mostram que há mudanças substanciais na maneira de pensar após a experiência em escolas. Crenças sobre a importância da relação família-escola são reforçadas, bem como a importância da orientação e da ação tutorial, com os novos canais de comunicação presentes entre famílias e escola para interação sendo significativamente valorizados. As conclusões enfatizam a necessidade de se promover uma atitude crítica e reflexiva por parte dos professores em sua formação inicial.
