With the growing population, access to clean water is one of the 21st-century world’s challenges. For this reason, different strategies to reduce pollutants in water using renewable energy sources ...should be exploited. Photocatalysts with extended visible light harvesting are an interesting route to degrade harmful molecules utilized in plastics, as is the case of Bisphenol A (BPA). This work uses a microwave-assisted route for the synthesis of two photocatalysts (BiOI and Bi2MoO6). Then, BiOI/Bi2MoO6 heterostructures of varied ratios were produced using the same synthetic routes. The BiOI/Bi2MoO6 with a flower-like shape exhibited high photocatalytic activity for BPA degradation compared to the individual BiOI and Bi2MoO6. The high photocatalytic activity was attributed to the matching electronic band structures and the interfacial contact between BiOI and Bi2MoO6, which could enhance the separation of photo-generated charges. Electrochemical, optical, structural, and chemical characterization demonstrated that it forms a BiOI/Bi2MoO6 p-n heterojunction. The free radical scavenging studies showed that superoxide radicals (O2•−) and holes (h+) were the main reactive species, while hydroxyl radical (•OH) generation was negligible during the photocatalytic degradation of BPA. The results can potentiate the application of the microwave synthesis of photocatalytic materials.
Lower respiratory tract infections remain the deadliest communicable disease worldwide. The relationship between cardiovascular diseases and viral infections is well known; for example, during the ...AH1N1 influenza pandemic, many patients developed acute cardiovascular disease. In the SARS-CoV2 pandemic, cardiovascular health has again become a challenge, with early reports showing cardiac damage in these patients.
The study aims to describe the clinical characteristics of COVID-19 patients with an emphasis on cardiovascular compromises, compared with past outbreaks of influenza AH1N1, to identify prognostic factors of severity.
A cross-sectional study of 72 subjects with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 was conducted. Subjects were evaluated in two groups: 38 hospitalized patients and 34 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Data from different outbreaks of influenza AH1N1 were then compared with this group.
The 34 subjects in the ICU had higher levels of high sensible troponin, D dimer, creatinine, and leukocytes compared with the 38 hospitalized subjects. The lymphocytes count was diminished in 85.29% of ICU subjects. When compared with AH1N1 patients, it was found that SARS-CoV2 patients were 10 years older on average. The proportion of overweight and obese SARS-CoV2 patients was double that in the influenza outbreaks. In addition, it was observed that a high number of SARS-CoV2 subjects presented with diabetes mellitus.
There were various clinical and severity differences between each of these outbreaks. However, viral respiratory infection diseases such as SARS-CoV2 are a significant risk factor for acute ischemic, functional, and structural cardiovascular complications. The only way to combat this risk is a prevention approach, specifically through vaccines, but also through measures that force drastic changes in health policies to reduce perhaps the worst of pandemics, obesity, and its metabolic consequences.

Introduction. Empathy is defined as the ability or process to identify and understand other person's situation, feelings, and motives. These responses are essential for relationships and social ...behavior. Baron-Cohen et al. created the Empathy Quotient (EQ), a scale explicitly designed to have a clinical application. The instrument evaluates three constructs of empathy and several studies around worldwide, but not in Mexico. Objective. To examine the psychometric properties and the factor congruence of the EQ in a community sample from Mexico City. Method. Cronbach's alpha coefficient and a correspondence factorial analysis was performed to testthe relation between response options and factors from the Exploratory Factor Analysis 200 adults without Axis I disorders through the MINI, filled out the Spanish version of the short version (28-items) of the EQ. An exploratory factor analysis was performed while reliability was tested with Cronbach's alpha. In addition, correspondence factorial analysis and the factor congruence coefficient were determined. Results. Five items were eliminated from the original 28-item EQ. From the 23 remaining items, only 16 were grouped in the three original proposed dimensions (cognitive empathy: 8 items, emotional reactivity: 4 items and social skills: 3 Items),while one item showed communality with a different domain from the one originally proposed. Reliability was adequate (.82) as well as the congruence coefficients (.76 to .99). Discussion and conclusion. The EQ Mexican 16-item version is a good tool to assess empathy in a Mexican population. Keywords: Validation, empathy, scale, congruence coefficient, mexican population.

The Mixteca Alta has some of the most important traces of Mesoamerican culture and is characterized by a variety of conspicuous erosional features strongly related to traditional farming practices ...carried out for more than 3500 years. These features represent a valuable geoheritage that can show the relationship between geology and society and promote the knowledge of Earth sciences among members of the general and specialized public. These erosional features include gullies, badlands, erosive amphitheatres derived from fluvial and mass-wasting processes, alluvial deposits, palaeosols and water and sediment traps used for farming purposes (locally known as
lamabordos
). Other sites of interest include examples of intrusive magmatic dikes, spheroidal weathering and sites of palaeontological interest. The identification of these sites leads to the proposal of three geotrails; these represent the basis for geotourism in the study area, as an alternative for local economic development.

Abstract We sought to assess the developing of thyroid disorders in forty eight patients with chronic stable heart failure and without thyroid abnormalities during six months follow-up. Thyroid ...function disorders were observed in 27.1% of the subjects: sick euthyroid syndrome (12.5%), subclinical hypothyroidism (10.4%) and overt hypothyroidism (6.2%). Subjects with higher thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels at the end of the study had more hospitalizations. The developing of altered thyroid profile was related to lower hemoglobin levels, smaller phase angle with bioelectrical impedance method and more fatigue perception by the patients. This abnormal thyroid function behavior on stable chronic heart failure and was observed as part of the disease progress and was associated to worse prognosis factors as lower phase angle and anemia.
