The article describes a clinical case of a patient with tuberculosis that developed during the period of transient immunodeficiency of HIV infection (stage 2B of HIV infection). The main ...manifestation of tuberculosis was cervical lymphadenitis, for which several operations had to be performed; enlarged lymph nodes of the lung root, retroperitoneal and inguinal groups were visualized by X-ray. Based on the presence of tuberculosis, the patient was diagnosed with an advanced, 4B stage of HIV infection and, after 9 days, ART was started.The article speculates on whether tuberculosis should be considered as an unambiguous criterion for the last stage of HIV infection regardless of immunity indicators and duration of the course of HIV infection.
The fission of a variety of actinides was induced by fusion and transfer reactions between a 238U beam and 12C nuclei, in the active target MAYA. The performance of MAYA was studied, as well as its ...capability to reconstruct the fission-fragment trajectories. Furthermore, a full characterization of the different transfer reactions was achieved, and the populated excitation-energy distributions were investigated as a function of the kinetic energy in the entrance channel. The ratio between transfer- and fusion-induced fission cross-sections was also determined, in order to investigate the competition between both reaction types and its evolution with the incident energy. The experimental results will be discussed with a view to forthcoming radioactive-ion beam facilities, and next-generation active-target setups.

Objective.
To increase efficiency of cavitary pulmonary tuberculosis treatment by developing modern indications and technology of extrapleural pneumolysis with filling material.
Material and ...methods.
We reviewed 25 patients with cavitary pulmonary tuberculosis and bacterial excretion who had undergone extrapleural pneumolysis with different types of filling material in 2004–2015. In 16 cases, we performed surgery in patients with one lung.
Results.
56% of operated patients demonstrated extensively drug-resistant TB, 40% had multidrug-resistant TB. Cavities were closed and bacterial excretion ceased in 92% of patients at discharge. Long-term results with observation period from 1 to 12 years were analyzed in 24 patients, 17 (71%) of them had complete clinical efficacy.
Conclusion.
Extrapleural pneumolysis is a mini-invasive surgical treatment that can prove positive effect in patients with non-fibrotic changes in a cavity wall and pathological process in upper parts of the lungs.

Angular distribution data of both elastic scattering and breakup were analyzed under the same theoretical model and the influence of continuum on the elastic channel was investigated.

The study demonstrates the analysis of resistance to antibiotics of clinically common strains of microorganisms that were isolated from open fracture wounds in the patients admitted to our clinic ...within the period of 2006-2008. It was found that gram-positive bacteria feature a significantly restrained growth of resistance to universally used antibiotics. The increase in numbers of MRSA and MRSE stains was revealed. Enterococci feature a linear growth of resistant stains to most studied antibiotics. Gram-negative bacteria showed an increase in resistance to cephalosporins of generation III-IV. Most strains of non-fermenting bacteria (Pseudomonas, Acinetobacter) were sensitive to amikacin and imipenem.
Identification of the interstrip effects using digital pulse shape analysis is for the first time reported. This study is performed on a highly segmented double-sided silicon detector used in a ...nuclear reaction in which a large range of particles at different energies are produced. The output current pulse of the preamplifier is employed as observable. The interstrip effects diminish the capability of particle identification at energies below 5MeV, especially on the injection side of the detector.

The main objective of this study was to assess inter- and intrafraction errors for two patient immobilisation devices in the context of lung stereotactic body radiation therapy: a vacuum cushion and ...a simple arm support.
Twenty patients who were treated with lung stereotactic body radiation therapy in supine position with arms above their head were included in the study. Ten patients were setup in a vacuum cushion (Bluebag™, Elekta) and ten other patients with a simple arm support (Posirest™, Civco). A pretreatment four-dimensional cone-beam computed tomography and a post-treatment three-dimensional cone-beam computed tomography were acquired to compare positioning and immobilisation accuracy. Based on a rigid registration with the planning computed tomography on the spine at the target level, translational and rotational errors were reported.
The median number of fractions per treatment was 5 (range: 3–10). Mean interfraction errors based on 112 four-dimensional cone-beam computed tomographies were similar for both setups with deviations less than or equal to 1.3mm in lateral and vertical direction and 1.2° in roll and yaw. For longitudinal translational errors, mean interfraction errors were 0.7mm with vacuum cushion and –3.9mm with arm support. Based on 111 three-dimensional cone-beam computed tomographies, mean lateral, longitudinal and vertical intrafraction errors were –0.1mm, –0.2mm and 0.0mm respectively (SD: 1.0, 1.2 and 1.0mm respectively) for the patients setup with vacuum cushion, and mean vertical, longitudinal and lateral intrafraction errors were –0.3mm, –0.7mm and 0.1mm respectively (SD: 2.3, 1.8 and 1.4mm respectively) for the patients setup with arm support. Intrafraction errors means were not statistically different between both positions but standard deviations were statistically larger with arm support.
The results of our study showed similar inter and intrafraction mean deviations between both positioning but a large variability in intrafraction observed with arm support suggested a more accurate immobilization with vacuum cushion.
L’objectif principal de cette étude était de comparer les erreurs inter- et intrafractions pour deux dispositifs d’immobilisation dans le contexte de la radiothérapie stéréotaxique du poumon: un matelas sous vide et un simple support de bras.
Vingt patients recevant une radiothérapie stéréotaxique du poumon en position allongée avec les bras au-dessus de la tête ont été inclus dans cette étude. Dix patients étaient installés avec un matelas sous vide (Bluebag™, Elekta) et dix autres avec un support de bras (Posirest™, CIVCO). Une tomographie conique quadridimensionnelle préthérapeutique et une tomographie conique tridimensionnelle post-thérapeutique ont été acquises pour comparer la qualité du repositionnement et de l’immobilisation. Basés sur une comparaison rigide avec la scanographie dosimétrique sur la colonne vertébrale à hauteur du volume cible, les erreurs en translation et en rotation ont été rapportées.
Le nombre médian de fractions par traitement était de 5 (entre 3 et 10). La moyenne des erreurs entre les fractions basée sur 112 tomographies coniques quadridimensionnelles était similaire entre les deux positions avec des décalages inférieurs ou égaux à 1,3mm dans les directions latérale et verticale et 1,2° en roulis et lacet. Pour les erreurs longitudinales en translation, la moyenne des erreurs entre les fractions était de 0,7mm avec le matelas sous vide et de –3,9mm avec le simple support de bras. Basée sur 111 tomographies coniques tridimensionnelles, la moyenne des erreurs pendant les fractions latéralement, longitudinalement et verticalement étaient respectivement –0,1mm, –0,2mm et 0,0mm (déviation standard respectivement de 1,0, 1,2 et 1,0mm) pour les patients positionnés avec un matelas sous vide et –0,3mm, –0,7mm et 0,1mm respectivement (déviation standard respectivement de 2,3mm, 1,8mm et 1,4mm ) pour les patients installés avec un simple support de bras. Les moyennes des erreurs pendant les fractions n’étaient pas statistiquement différentes entre les deux dispositifs mais les déviations standard étaient statiquement plus grandes avec le simple support de bras.
Les résultats de notre étude montrent des décalages moyens entre et pendant les fractions similaires entre les deux positionnements mais avec une variabilité pendant les fractions plus grandes avec le support de bras suggérant une immobilisation plus précise avec un matelas sous vide.

The low incidence of nodular fistulas can create difficulties in diagnosis and timely treatment. This clinical observation describes the diagnosis of pneumonodular fistula in a female patient with ...tuberculosis at multiple sites as a complication of tuberculous mediastinitis. It describes the surgical treatment received by this patient and its outcome as an example of correct treatment policy for this complication.
