Experimental study of electronic structure of the initial multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as well as the exposed to annealing and irradiation N-MWCNTs, was carried out by XPS and NEXAFS ...methods. Based on the obtained photoelectron valence band spectra and C K-edge absorption spectra, a theoretical description of the density of electronic states (DOS) near the Fermi level was proposed to explain the dependence of the DOS and the band gap on temperature, concentration of doping atoms and various atomic configurations formed in a system during synthesis, subsequent ion-beam and heat treatment of MWCNTs.

Functionalization by oxygen-containing groups, electronic band gap, and conductivity produced by the functionalization in the disordered metallic nitrogen-containing multi-wall carbon nanotubes ...(N-MWCNTs), are investigated experimentally and theoretically. Oxygen in the carboxyl groups is located in top sites at the nanotube surface and produces the bang gap. The energy gap is found to have a width of approximately 1.3 eV which does not depend on diameter, oxygen concentration, and structure of the groups. Oxygen localized in the bridge position in the hydroxyl group promotes the appearance of charge carriers in a gap. The charge carrier’s concentration and conductivity produced by oxygen groups are shown to be determined by the features of electron scattering. Theory connecting the functionalization, bang gap, and electronic properties of the nanotubes, is developed.

Hunter syndrome (mucopolysaccharidosis type II) is a recessive X-linked disorder due to mutations in the iduronate 2-sulfatase (IDS) gene. The IDS gene encodes a lysosomal enzyme, iduronate ...2-sulfatase. The disease occurs almost exclusively in males. However, in the literature, 12 cases of the disease in females are known due to structural anomalies, a non-random chromosome X inactivation or chromosome X monosomy. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate a rare case of Hunter syndrome in a girl caused by a mutation in the IDS gene inherited from the mother and the presence of chromosome X of paternal origin, partially deleted in the long arm region - 46,X,del(X)(q22.1).
Girl M., 4 years old, entered the hospital with growth retardation, pain in the lower limbs, and joint stiffness, noted from the age of 18 months. After the karyotype analysis, which revealed a partial deletion of the long arm of chromosome X - 46, X, del (X) (q 22.1), Turner syndrome was diagnosed. However, due to the hurler-like facial phenotype, Hurler syndrome or type I mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) was suspected. The study of lysosomal enzymes showed normal alpha-L-iduronidase activity and a sharp decrease in the activity of iduronate sulfatase in the blood: 0.001 μM/l/h, at a rate of 2.5-50 μM/l/h. Molecular genetic analysis revealed a hemizygous deletion in the IDS gene, which was not registered in the international Human Gene Mutation Database (HGMD) professional. This deletion was not detected in the girl's father, but was detected in her mother in the heterozygous state.
Thus, the girl confirmed comorbidity - Turner syndrome with a partial deletion of the long arm of chromosome X of paternal origin, affecting the Xq28 region (localization of the IDS gene), and Hunter syndrome due to a deletion of the IDS gene inherited from the mother. The structural defect of chromosome X in the girl confirmed the hemizygous state due to the mutation in the IDS gene, which has led to the formation of the clinical phenotype of Hunter syndrome.

The investigation of plant genomes is of great importance for basic research and practical breeding. In 1977, F. Sanger proposed a DNA sequencing method, which allowed the complete sequences of a ...number of genomes to be determined. Then high-throughput and cost-effective next-generation/second-generation sequencing methods, producing up to billions of short reads, made it possible to sequence genomes of a significant number of species and provided a breakthrough in plant genetic studies. Finally, third-generation sequencing technologies allowed the determination of single-molecule sequences up to a million nucleotides in length, which is key for high-quality genome assemblies. An important task is to obtain a pan-genome, which includes an entire set of nucleotide sequences presented in various genotypes of the same species. The sequencing of plant genomes made it possible to assess intraspecific polymorphism, identify key genes influencing the formation of significant features, and develop molecular markers of economically valuable traits and this has become the basis for the development of marker-assisted and genomic selection. This review provides information on the latest advances in sequencing technologies and the assembly of plant genomes, as well as the opportunities that they open up for basic and applied works.

events. The value of the measured cross section in the center-of-mass energy range from 1.894 to 2 GeV varies from 0.5 to 0.35 nb. The effective neutron timelike form factor is derived from the measured cross section and compared with the proton form factor. The ratio of the neutron electric and magnetic form factors is obtained from the analysis of the antineutron polar angle distribution and found to be consistent with unity.

Determine the primary antibiotic resistance of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) strains isolated from patients living in the European part of the Russian Federation.
As part of a clinical laboratory ...study, from 2015 to 2018, 27 gastrobiopsy samples obtained from H. pylori-infected patients were analyzed. H. pylori infection was verified using a rapid urease test or a 13C-urea breath test. The values of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of antibiotics were determined by the diffusion method using E-test strips (BioMerieux, France) according to the recommendations of the manufacturer. The sensitivity of the isolates was determined for 6 antibacterial drugs (amoxicillin, clarithromycin, metronidazole, levofloxacin, tetracycline, rifampicin).
According to the data obtained, resistance to amoxicillin was 0%, clarithromycin 11.1%, metronidazole 59.3%, levofloxacin 3.7%, tetracycline 0%, and rifampicin 14.8%. Dual resistance to clarithromycin and metronidazole was recorded in two isolates (7.4%).
Thus, the first results of the evaluation of H. pylori antibiotic resistance in the European part of the Russian Federation indicate a low resistance of the microorganism to clarithromycin and quite high to metronidazole.
