Phrasemes consist of several lexical components, have certain syntactic restrictions, and are used as fixed word combinations. They have an evaluative function or can express attitudes and emotions. ...Martin and White (2005) understand evaluation as attitude, engagement, and graduation. The present article addresses the role of phrasemes in the domain of attitudes related to judgments. The domain of judgment expresses people's attitudes towards certain behaviors, in other words, it is described how (un)able, (un)usual, (un)determined, (un)truthful and (un)ethical someone is. The world crisis that appeared at the time of the corona crisis triggered frustration and revolt against the existing situation among many people. In comments on the subject of the world crisis, readers express their opinions and attitudes toward economic policy measures. It is assumed that they use phrasemes to express their negative attitudes. The corpus is Croatian and German reader comments on the world crisis in the Corona period. The following questions will be answered: How often are phrasemes used to express negative attitudes in reader comments? Who or what is evaluated with phrasemes? Are there interlingual differences in the evaluation expression in Croatian and German reader comments? The aim is to investigate interlingual differences in the use of phrasemes to express assessment.
The benefits of language learning of children and young people in Croatia have been brought to attention due to increasing global cooperation and international networking. Above all, the tourism ...sector, which is now the most important branch of the economy in the country, is partly responsible for the continuing motivation to learn foreign languages. Language acquisition is a complex topic that combines many aspects and perspectives. It is influenced by different factors (Riemer 2001) and can often be viewed in relation to specific regions – the latter has aroused our interest after many years of experience in higher education. Croatian students from Zagreb, Osijek, Rijeka and Zadar were asked about their motivation for learning German. Considering the differently developed regions in Croatia, it was investigated whether there are region-specific differences in attitudes towards the German language and motivation to learn German between students from the two geographical regions of Croatia (continental vs. Adriatic Croatia). The procedure was quantitatively oriented. The results come from a questionnaire survey that was carried out specifically for this purpose and they clearly indicate that students from Croatia make a very specific decision to study German and thus to learn German language. It was found that region-specific characteristics or the economic situation of the region and the job opportunities it offers also have an impact on the choice of study in Croatia.
In Fußballberichten werden das Spiel, das Verhalten der Spieler, der Trainer und der Fußballfans beschrieben. In diese Übertragungen fließen u.a. oft Einschätzungen bzw. Emotionen mit ein. Emotionen ...können mit unterschiedlichen sprachlichen Mitteln evoziert werden und Phraseme, deren Hauptmerkmale die Expressivität und der pragmatische Mehrwert sind, eignen sich in diesem Kontext. Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden Phraseme, die Emotionen in Fußballberichten ausdrücken, untersucht. Das Korpus der Untersuchung stellen Fußballberichte zur Europameisterschaft 2012 und Weltmeisterschaft 2014, die in der kroatischen Zeitung Večernji list und der deutschen Zeitung Die Zeit gesammelt wurden, dar. Die Untersuchung basiert auf der von Martin und White (2005: 49–51) erstellten Klassifikation von Affekt. Sie unterscheiden zwischen folgenden Gruppen von Emotionen: Un-/Glück (Trauer, Hass, Glück, Liebe), Un-/Sicherheit (Sorge, Angst, Vertrauen) und Un/Zufriedenheit (Langweile, Unzufriedenheit, Neugier, Respekt). Die Forschungsfrage des Beitrages lautet: Beschreiben die belegten Phraseme Emotionen explizit aus, d.h. sind sie emotionsbezeichnend, oder weisen sie erst im Kontext auf Emotionen hin? Es wird der Emotionsausdruck in deutschen und kroatischen Fußballberichten analysiert, mit dem Ziel Ähnlichkeiten und Unterschiede zu bestimmen.
Frazemi su sveze riječi čije značenje ne proizlazi iz značenja njihovih pojedinačnih komponenata te imaju sljedeće karakteristike: polileksikalnost, stabilnost i idiomatičnost (usp. Burger 2015: ...11ff.). Mogu izražavati različite funkcije: (1) pokazatelji društvenih odnosa, (2) emocionalan stav govornika, (3) ironičnu ili humorističnu distancu, (4) eufemističko djelovanje, (5) argumentaciju i (6) klišeiziranost (usp. Fleischer 1997: 218ff.). Iz navedenih funkcija frazema ističe se njihova sposobnost evaluacije. Prema Du Boisu (2007: 139) je zauzimanje stava tj. evaluacija jedna od najvažnijih mogućnosti jezika. U okviru evaluacijske teorije Martin i White (2005) razlikuju stav, sudjelovanje i gradaciju. Stav se nadalje može podijeliti u afekt, sud i procjenu.
U ovome radu naglasak je stavljen na afekt tj. emocionalnu dimenziju značenja frazema. S obzirom da je jedna od karakteristika frazema njihova ekspresivnost promatrat će se izražavanje emocija kroz sam frazem te u kontekstu (usp. Burger 2015: 77).
Cilj ovog rada je istražiti način izražavanja emocija frazemima u odabranim dječjim znanstveno-fantastičnim romanima. Uz to će se odgovoriti na sljedeća istraživačka pitanja: U kojoj se mjeri frazemi koriste za izražavanje emocija? Koje su emocije prisutne? Koja kategorija izražavanja emocija je najučestalija?
Phrasemes are combinations of words whose meaning
does not derive from the meaning of their individual components. They have the
following characteristics: polylexicality, stability and idiomaticity (cf.
Burger 2015: 11ff.). They may express different functions: (1) indicators of
social relations, (2) emotional attitude of the speaker, (3) ironic or humorous
distance, (4) euphemistic action, (5) argumentation, and (6) clichés (cf. Fleischer
1997: 218ff.). The aforementioned functions of the phrasemes highlight their
ability to evaluate. According to Du Bois (2007: 139), taking a stance, i.e.
evaluation, is one of the most important language characteristics. Within the
evaluation theory, Martin and White (2005) distinguish attitude, engagement and
gradation. Attitude can further be divided into affect, judgment and
appreciation. In this paper, the emphasis is placed on affect, i.e. the
emotional meaning of phrasemes. The aim of this paper is to show the way
emotions are expressed by phrasemes in selected children’s SF novels. In
addition, the following research questions will be answered: Are phrasemes used
to express emotions? Which emotions are present? Which category of expressing
emotions is the most common?
In diesem Beitrag wird Bewertung nach den Ansätzen der Bewertungstheorie von Martin und White (2005) am phraseologischen Korpus der Fußballberichte untersucht. Am Material der deutschen und ...kroatischen Zeitungstexte zu Fußball, die meistens Berichte und Interviews umfassen, wird in beiden Sprachen untersucht, welche Phraseme der Bewertung dienen. Dabei wird unter Bewertung vor allem das Urteil des Verhaltens der Teilnehmer am Fußballspiel verstanden. Folgende Verhaltensweisen werden unterschieden: wie (un)üblich sich jemand verhält, wie (un)fähig jemand ist, wie (un)entschlossen jemand ist, und wie (un)ethisch jemand ist. Es wird auf die Frage eingegangen, ob Phraseme nur im Kontext bewertende Funktion übernehmen, oder ob sie in ihrer Grundbedeutung schon evaluativ sind.
Evaluacija je definirana kao izraz stava ili emocije sudionika. U ovome radu istražuje se evaluacija na frazeološkome korpusu nogometnih izvještaja na njemačkome i hrvatskome jeziku. Pod evaluacijom se pritom podrazumijeva prosudba ponašanja sudionika u nogometnoj igri. Analiza se temelji na sljedećim načinima ponašanja: koliko se (ne)normalno tko ponaša te koliko je tko (ne)sposoban, (ne)odlučan, (ne)iskren i (ne)etičan. Analizom je zaključeno da se frazemi mogu podijeliti na one koji u sebi već sadržavaju evaluativno značenje i one koji takvo značenje mogu dobiti tek u kontekstu, pri čemu je utvrđeno da je broj frazema s evaluativnim značenjem izvan konteksta znatno veći. Što se tiče kategorije suda, u oba se jezika ponajviše procjenjuje sposobnost igrača i trenera te njihovo ponašanje na terenu, tj. evaluira se koliko je tko (ne)sposoban.

Emocije su neizbježan dio svakoga ljudskog iskustva. One su važne za našu psihofizičku dobrobit te utječu na vještine poput percepcije, izražavanja, razlučivanja i razumijevanja. Pri učenju stranoga ...jezika često se javlja strah od komuniciranja, strah od ispitivanja i negativne evaluacije, što u konačnici može negativno utjecati na akademski uspjeh. Cilj je ovoga istraživanja ispitati prisutnost straha od upotrebe stranoga jezika u studenata te to povezati s korelatom sramežljivosti. U istraživanju su sudjelovala ukupno 104 studenta i studentice koji na Sveučilištu u Zadru slušaju Njemački jezik kao izborni kolegij. Rezultati su pokazali da većina studenata posjeduje srednju razinu straha od upotrebe njemačkoga jezika, a studentice imaju višu razinu straha od upotrebe njemačkoga jezika. T-testom se utvrdilo da postoji statistički značajna razlika u strahu na nastavi njemačkoga jezika u odnosu na spol. Međutim, nije se moglo potvrditi statistički značajnu povezanost straha s boravkom na njemačkome govornom području i prethodnim učenjem njemačkoga jezika. Pearsonov koeficijent korelacije također nije pokazao statistički značajnu povezanost između straha na nastavi njemačkoga kao stranoga jezika i sramežljivosti.
Emotions are an inevitable part of every human experience. They are important for our psychophysical well-being and affect skills such as perception, expression, discernment and understanding. When learning a foreign language, there is often a fear of communication, a fear of tests and of negative evaluations, which can ultimately have a negative impact on academic success. The aim of this research is to examine the presence of the fear of using a foreign language among students and to relate it to the correlate of shyness. A total of 104 male and female students taking German as an elective subject at the University of Zadar participated in the research. The results showed that most students have a medium level of fear of using a foreign language, while female students have a higher level of fear of using a foreign language. The t-test showed that there is a statistically significant difference in the fear of German language classes in relation to gender. However, it was not possible to confirm a statistically significant association of fear with residence in a Germanspeaking area or the previous learning of the German language. Pearson’s correlation coefficient also did not show a statistically significant relationship between the fear of learning German as a foreign language and shyness.
Duolingo is an application that is used very often for foreign language learning all around the world. The aim of the analysis presented in this article is to examine the possibility of implementing ...the Duolingo app in the teaching of German as a Foreign Language. The selection of topics and the explanation of the vocabulary in the application will be compared to those in Croatian textbooks for teaching German as a foreign language. As Croatian textbooks for teaching German as a foreign language are compiled according to the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), this research will show if the Duolingo application complies with the guidelines that can be derived from CEFR for the selection of topics. Furthermore, the following questions will be answered: Are there similarities or differences in a) the selection of topics, b) explanation of vocabulary and c) vocabulary exercises in the application and in the textbooks? The purpose of the paper is to determine the applicability of the Duolingo application in learning German as a Foreign Language.
