Purpose: In Brazil, cancer has become a health issue. The prostate cancer is the first larger death cause among men. The country urges to develop new treatments such as Brachytherapy. The treatment ...is performed only in private hospitals due to its high cost. As a Result, brazilian public hospitals do not have brachytherapy as a treatment option. Energy and Nuclear Research Institute IPEN/CNEN established a program for the production of 125Iodine seeds in Brazil. The 125Iodine seeds demand in Brazil is around 8,000 seeds per year. Methods: The 125Iodine is fixated onto the silver substrate using a new procedure (methodology is under patent process). The process lasts only 5 hours and the efficiency is up to 90%. The seeds sealing is accomplished by laser welding process resulting in a homogeneous (with only one pulse) weld without inclusions, cracks or fissures. After sealing, the weld integrity was evaluated with the use of an optical microscopy and leakage test, better than those presented in ISO 9978 standard. All of these procedures are new developed by the Brazilian researchers. Results: After almost 10 years of research and implementation IPEN laboratory is ready. The 125iodine fixation process, the laser welding and the quality control is fully automated. This process took a long time mostly because the precision required due to the seed size. With the chemical process established, the waste management is under implementation. The dosimetry method is under implementation and the final parameters are being calculated. Conclusion: The group will start the production line in 2013. With the lower cost, we hope to make the treatment more feasible to more patients.

Objetivou-se com esse estudo avaliar a germinação e desenvolvimento de mudas de pimentão em função da aplicação de cinza vegetal no semiárido piauiense. O experimento foi realizado em ambiente ...protegido, localizado na Universidade Estadual do Piauí, no município de Picos, no período de Abril a Junho de 2019. O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado, com oito tratamentos e cinco repetições. Os tratamentos avaliados foram compostos da combinação de cinza vegetal e solo na base de volume, além do uso do substrato comercial, Tropstrato HT®. O solo utilizado foi proveniente de uma área de vegetação nativa da Universidade Estadual do Piauí. A cinza vegetal foi coletada em fornos de cerâmica do município de Picos–PI. A cultivar utilizada foi o pimentão da marca comercial casca dura Ikeda. A semeadura foi realizada em vasos, de 2000 ml, na densidade de 5 sementes.vaso-1, na profundidade de 0,5cm. Aos 15 dias após semeadura, foi realizado o desbaste deixando apenas uma planta vaso-1. As avaliações de Porcentagem de germinação e índice de velocidade de germinação foram realizadas entre sete e 10 dias após a semeadura. Aos 45 dias após semeadura foram avaliadas a altura de planta, comprimento de raiz, número de folhas, diâmetro do colo, volume de raiz, massa fresca da parte aérea, massa fresca de raiz, massa seca da parte aérea, massa seca da raiz e massa seca total. Posteriormente foram determinadas a relação entre a altura de planta e massa seca da parte aérea e o índice de qualidade de Dickson. Os melhores resultados foram obtidos na concentração de 5% de cinza vegetal. A concentração de cinza a partir de 20% proporcionou redução significativa da germinação e desenvolvimento das mudas de pimentão. A cinza vegetal apresentou potencial econômico e ambiental, para ser utilizada pelos agricultores familiares da região.
RESUMO A profusão de notícias falsas disseminadas no contexto da pandemia da Covid-19 colocou novos desafios a governos, gestores e profissionais de saúde, mídia e entidades de defesa da saúde e da ...vida. As ações governamentais de diferentes países frente a esse problema são o objeto deste estudo de revisão integrativa, que analisou 16 artigos, após busca em três bases de dados bibliográficos, no período de novembro de 2020 a janeiro de 2021, utilizando critérios de inclusão e exclusão. Agrupados por continentes (Ásia, Europa e América Latina), os resultados apontaram: existência de dispositivos reguladores; criminalização da desinformação; regulamentação da comunicação digital; uso de tecnologias para aproximar governo e cidadãos; monitoramento e verificação de notícias falsas; uso de plataformas refutadoras; redes digitais para identificação e remoção de notícias e contas; crise de desinformação como fomento para a divergência política; entre outros. Diferenças e desigualdades marcam as ações governamentais frente à desinformação no contexto da pandemia da Covid-19, refletindo coesão social, liderança, confiança institucional ou força coercitiva. Sugerem-se estudos aprofundados, que permitam compreender como as sociedades, com diferentes tipos de governo, economias e regimes políticos, definem as ações desenvolvidas para o controle da desinformação e seu potencial de eficiência.
ABSTRACT The profusion of fake news disseminated in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic posed new challenges to governments, health care managers and professionals, media and entities committed to protect health and life. Government actions from different countries faced with this problem are the object of this integrative review study which analyzed 16 articles, after searching three bibliographic databases, from November 2020 to January 2021 using inclusion and exclusion criteria. Grouped by continents (Asia, Europe and Latin America), the results pointed to: the existence of regulatory devices; criminalization of disinformation; digital communication regulation; use of technologies to bring closer government and citizens; monitoring and verification of fake news; creation of rebuttal news platforms; digital network approaches for identification and removal of news and accounts; disinformation crisis as a foment for political divergence; among other issues. Differences and inequalities marked government actions against disinformation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic reflecting social cohesion, leadership, institutional trust or coercive force. In-depth studies are suggested to understand how societies with different types of government, economies, and political regimes define the actions taken to control disinformation and their potential effectiveness.
The objective of this study was to evaluate morphogenetic and structural characteristics of Guinea grass pastures subjected to two grazing frequencies (90 and 95% light interception) and two ...post-grazing heights (30 and 50 cm), during the rainy season and dry year. The leaf appearance rate varied only in the summer, the grazing pastures managed at 90/50 (light interception/post-grazing height) presented higher values in the leaf appearance rate (0.440 leaf/tiller.day), compared with those managed at 90/30 (0.275 leaf/tiller.day) and 95/50 (0.228 leaf/tiller.day), respectively. In the winter/beginning of the spring, pastures managed at 90/30 (0.03 cm/tiller.day) presented lower stem elongation rate in comparison with those managed at 90/50 (0.19 cm/tiller.day) and 95/30 (0.16 cm/tiller.day). Management strategies do not compromise the tissue flow in tillers and, consequently, can be utilized for the management of Guinea grass.

To investigate the relationship of polymorphisms in the
(-308G/A), IL-10 (-819C/T) and
...(-786T/C) genes with mental disorders in cocaine and crack users.
A case-control study was carried out, which included 107 cocaine and crack users and 115 controls who never used healthy cocaine and crack. The SNPs in the
(-308G/A),
(-819C/T) and
(-786T/C) genes were genotyped by real time PCR.
As for the individuals included in this study, the average age of 31.4 years (± 8.59). We identified that the G/A genotype to TNFA (-308) (OR = 0.24; p = 0.03) and the A allele (OR = 0.30; p = 0.03) were associated with reduced risk for dysthymic disorder. The T allele of the IL-10 (-819) polymorphism was associated with decreased risk of developing panic disorder (OR = 0.44; p = 0.01), while the C allele was correlated with an increased risk for alcohol dependence (OR = 1.97; p = 0.04), alcohol abuse (OR = 1.81; p = 0.04) and psychotic syndrome (OR = 2.23; p = 0.01). C/C genotype was correlated with increased chances of developing current psychotic syndrome (OR = 4.23; p = 0.01).
Our results suggest that genetic polymorphisms promote susceptibility or promote protection for clinical phenotypes of psychiatric comorbidities in cocaine and crack users and be considered as good prognostic markers.
ABSTRACT Herniorrhaphy is one of the most common surgical procedures, with an estimated 20 million operations performed annually worldwide. One of the common complications associated with this ...procedure is inguinodynia, defined as pain beyond three months after inguinal hernia surgery. In this review, we have addressed the main aspects of this complication with current articles, published in the last five years. Inguinodynia has a multifactorial nature and studies have shown that its development is related to the surgical technique and intrinsic factors of the patient that imply greater predisposition to this phenomenon. In this regard, it has been discussed which surgical techniques imply a lower incidence of this complication. Many studies have focused on understanding intrinsic features of each patient, both in physical and cognitive aspects, and how the approach of these factors can favor a better post-surgical recovery. The treatment of this condition is still challenging, and there are no established universal guidelines. We believe that due to its multifactorial nature, the treatment is hampered due to the individuality inguinodynia presentations.
RESUMO A herniorrafia é um dos procedimentos cirúrgicos mais realizados, com estimativa de 20 milhões de operações feitas anualmente em todo o mundo. Uma das complicações comuns associadas a esse procedimento é a inguinodinia, definida como dor inguinal crônica, com duração superior a três meses após herniorrafia inguinal. Nesta revisão, abordamos os principais aspectos dessa complicação com base em artigos sobre o tema, publicados nos últimos cinco anos. A inguinodinia tem natureza multifatorial e estudos mostram que está relacionada à técnica cirúrgica e aos fatores intrínsecos do paciente, que implicam maior predisposição a esse fenômeno. Nesse sentido, têm sido discutidas quais técnicas cirúrgicas implicam menor incidência dessa complicação. Muitos estudos têm se concentrado em compreender características inerentes a cada paciente, tanto no aspecto físico, quanto cognitivo, e como a abordagem desses fatores pode favorecer a melhor recuperação pós-cirúrgica. O tratamento dessa condição ainda é desafiador e não há diretrizes universais estabelecidas. Acreditamos que, devido à natureza multifatorial, o tratamento é dificultado em razão da individualidade das apresentações da inguinodinia.

Fibrous dysplasia is related to benign fibro-osseous lesions characterized by the progressive replacement of the original bone tissue by fibrous connective tissue. This condition may be present in a ...single bone, described as monostotic fibrous dysplasia, or in up to 75% of the whole body, described as polyostotic. Its etiology is unknown; however, studies report a relation between the enzymatic and metabolic modifications and genetic mutations. It is more common in the first 2 decades of life, with no prevalence of sex. It is clinically a painless tumefaction, promoting facial asymmetry. Radiographically, it presents as a "glass-matte" aspect opacification. The proposed treatment can be surgical or conservative, depending on the functional and aesthetic impairment. This study aims to report a case and to present the tomographic and anatomic aspects of monostotic fibrous bone dysplasia in a 14-year-old female patient.

Objective: To describe the main characteristics of clinical involvement of the oral cavity in patients with multibacillary leprosy and demonstrate the importance of the performance of the dentist. ...Study design: A systematic review was performed of all literature located on the electronic databases Medline, Google Scholar, and Lilacs from 2002-2017. Results: Multibacillary leprosy is the most aggressive form of the disease, where the patient has several nodules of reddish-brown coloration, the face is a region of considerable involvement where the trigeminal and facial nerves are usually involved. Oral lesions are observed frequently ranging from 19% to 60% in these cases of greater aggressiveness. Due to this symptomatology, the negligence of the professionals or incipient instruction were analyzed in the diagnosis and follow-up of these injuries in dental care. Conclusion: This is a research topic that is not fully explored and the need for a deepening of the knowledge of dentists in relation to the disease is well known, knowing that odontogenic infections are among the most common factors in the onset of episodes of erythema nodosum leprosum. The need for prioritization of this study is justified.

O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar reflexões sobre as categorias pedagógicas ‘interesse’ e ‘esforço’ que foram discutidas pelo filósofo norte-americano John Dewey (1859-1952), que teve grande ...repercussão nos debates educacionais do Brasil. Sobre o pensamento deweyano, destaca-se que, na historiografia educacional brasileira, não há consenso sobre suas perspectivas educacionais e sociais. No que se referem suas categorias pedagógicas, em específico as de ‘interesse’ e ‘esforço’, não há concordância sobre seus significados e disposições no ato educativo. Ademais, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica priorizando os descritores: ‘interesse’, ‘esforço’ e ‘John Dewey’, o que possibilitou selecionar artigos, dissertações e teses que versam sobre a temática. Nesta parte, em uma análise descritiva, o propósito foi de pontuar as diferentes leituras sobre tais categorias. Em seguida, com base nos livros Vida e Educação (1978) e Democracia e Educação (1936), apresentam-se as categorias supracitadas com base nas contribuições de Dewey. Observando ao intelectual estadunidense em relação ao seu contexto, destaca-se que ele buscou corrigir os problemas da democracia burguesa por intermédio de um projeto educacional. Assim, as categorias pedagógicas ‘interesse’ e ‘esforço’ não eram entendidas de forma estanques, mas interrelacionadas – entre si e com outras categorias pedagógicas –, compondo um amplo projeto de educação que pressupunha um ambiente planejado e orientado pelo professor. Desse modo, Dewey almejava formar novos hábitos reflexivos e sociais nos indivíduos, acreditando que assim poder-se-ia constituir uma sociedade mais desenvolvida e democrática.
Este trabalho apresenta um modelo para determinar a fragilidade ambiental em bacias hidrográficas, com foco na Bacia Hidrográfica do Rio Ibirapuitã-RS. Foram realizadas análises de fatores de ...declividade, solo, erosividade da chuva e uso e ocupação da terra analisados em ambiente SIG para construção de fragilidade ambiental potencial e emergente seguindo a metodologia proposta por Ross (1994). Para avaliar os resultados da pesquisa foram estabelecidos pesos ou notas para cada variável, dessa forma a classe de fragilidade potencial com maior representatividade é a denominada de alta fragilidade e ocorre em extensão de 6679,3 km². A classe de fragilidade ambiental emergente mais representativa é a denominada como média fragilidade, presente em uma área de 6145,5 km². Como existe uma sazonalidade da produção agrícola devido ao clima, a classe de fragilidade ambiental emergente apresenta diminuição, ocasionando assim o aumento da classe de fragilidade média em demais áreas.
