Due to the world's over-reliance on fossil fuels there has been a developing interest in the production of renewable biofuels such as methyl and ethyl esters derived from vegetable oils and animal ...fats. To increase our understanding of the combustion chemistry of esters, the oxidation of methyl butanoate and ethyl propanoate, both with a molecular formula of C5H10O2, have been studied in a series of high-temperature shock tube experiments. Ignition delay times for a series of mixtures, of varying fuel/oxygen equivalence ratios (φ = 0.25−1.5), were measured behind reflected shock waves over the temperature range 1100−1670 K, and at pressures of 1.0, and 4.0 atm. It was found that ethyl propanoate was consistently faster to ignite than methyl butanoate, particularly at lower temperatures. Detailed chemical kinetic mechanisms have been assembled and used to simulate these experiments with good agreement observed. Rate of production analyses using the detailed mechanisms shows that the faster reactivity of ethyl propanoate can be explained by a six-centered unimolecular decomposition reaction with a relatively low activation energy barrier producing propanoic acid and ethylene. The elimination reaction itself is not responsible for the increased reactivity; it is the faster reactivity of the two products, propanoic acid and ethylene that leads to this behavior.

ABSTRACT Objective: The big data provided by Google Trends may reveal patterns in health information-seeking behavior on population from Brazil and United States (US). Our objective was to explore ...and compare patterns of stone disease online information-seeking behaviors in both nations. Materials and Methods: To compare Relative Search Volume (RSV) among different urologic key words we chose “US” and “Brazil” as country and “01/01/2009 - 31/12/2018” as time-range. The final selection included 12 key words in each language. We defined “ureteroscopy” as a reference and compared RSV against it for each term. RSV was adjusted by the reference and normalized in a scale from 0-100. Trend presence was evaluated by Mann Kendall Test and magnitude by Sen's Slope (SS) Estimator. Results: We found an upward trend (p <0.01) in most of the researched terms in both countries. Higher temporal trends were seen for “Kidney Stone” (SS=0.36), “Kidney Pain” (SS=0.39) and “Tamsulosin” (SS=0.21) in the US. Technical treatment terms had little search volumes and no increasing trend. “Kidney Stent” and “Double J” had a significant increase in search trend over time and had a relevant search volume overall in 2018. In Brazil, “Calculo Renal”, “Colica Renal”, “Dor no Rim” and “Pedra no Rim” had a significant increase in RSV (p <0.001). More common and popular terms as “Kidney Stent” and “Tamsulosin” were highly correlated with “Kidney Pain” and “Kidney Stone” in both countries. Conclusions: In the last decade, there was a significant increase in online search for medical information related to stone-disease. Population from both countries tend to look more for generic terms related to symptoms, the disease, medical management and kidney stent, than for technical treatment vocabulary.
Purpose
To analyse patterns of stone disease online information-seeking behaviours in the United States and to correlate with urological literature publication aspects.
Methods

This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of the main perceived barriers to leisure‐time physical activity (LTPA) and their associations with the frequency of LTPA in a representative sample of ...industrial workers from Brazil (n = 47 477), according to their income strata (low income: ≤$US280, middle income: $US281–$US1400, and high income: ≥$US1401). Data were collected between 2006 and 2008 via questionnaires about the main perceived barrier to LTPA and the frequency of LTPA. Multinomial logistic regression was performed to evaluate differences among groups. There was a lower prevalence of regular practice of LTPA in the low‐ (15.8%) and middle‐income strata (18.2%) than among the individuals of the high‐income stratum (27.6%). A large proportion of workers who regularly participated in LTPA reported no barriers (low: 43.1%; middle: 46.8%; high: 51.6%). Additional obligations and fatigue were the two most common perceived barriers in all family income strata among participants who engaged in different frequencies of LTPA. The odds for all perceived barriers showed a positive trend related to frequency of LTPA (from regular to no LTPA), with higher values according to income. In summary, the ordering of the main perceived barriers to LTPA differed according to workers' income stratum and frequency of engaging in LTPA.

Abstract Objective To investigate the consequences of including active commuting, compared with the leisure domain only, in the prevalence and sociodemographic factors associated with attending the ...physical activity recommendations, in Brazilian adults. Study design Population-based cross-sectional study. Method Adults between 20 and 59 years of age (n = 1720) were face-to-face interviewed from September 2009 to January 2010. Sociodemographic indicators and leisure-time and commuting physical activity were assessed by a validated questionnaire. Poisson regression was used to estimate crude and adjusted prevalence ratio (PR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI). Results The prevalence of adherence to recommendations when only leisure-time physical activity was considered was 15.5% (95% CI: 13.6; 17.4) and was associated with men (PR: 1.57, 95% CI: 1.25; 1.96), adults without a partner (PR: 1.38 95% CI: 1.05; 1.81) and higher educational level and income. The prevalence of adherence to physical activity recommendations after the combination of leisure-time and commuting was 29.1% (95% CI: 26.5; 31.6). Percentages differences in favor of men, white adults and those with higher educational level and income were no longer significant after the inclusion of active commuting. Conclusion The inclusion of active commuting expands the percentage of adults who achieved the health-related physical activity recommendations and reduced important sociodemographic differences derived from the analysis of leisure-time physical activity alone. Public health strategies should consider the different domains of physical activity in the monitoring and promotion of a more active lifestyle.

Objectives
To characterize the stone risk and the impact of parathyroidectomy on the metabolic profile of patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and urolithiasis.
Patients and Methods
We ...analysed the prospectively collected charts of patients treated at our stone clinic between January 2001 and January 2016 searching for patients with PHPT and urolithiasis. Imaging evaluation of the kidneys, bones and parathyroid glands was assessed. We analysed the demographic data, serum and urinary variables before and after parathyroidectomy. We used a paired t‐test, Fisher's test, Spearman's test and anova in the statistical analysis.
Results
A total of 51 patients were included. The mean patient age was 57.1 ± 12.1 years and 82.4% were women. Before parathyroidectomy, mean calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels were 11.2 ± 1.0 mg/dL and 331 ± 584 pg/dL, respectively. Hypercalcaemia was present in 84.3% of patients. All eight patients with normal calcium levels had elevated PTH levels. Only two patients did not have PTH above the normal range, although both had elevated calcium levels. The most common urinary disorders were low urinary volume (64.7%), hypercalciuria (60.8%), high urinary pH (41.2%) and hypocitraturia (31.4%). After parathyroidectomy, the number of patients with hypercalcaemia (n = 4; 7.8%), elevated PTH (n = 17; 33.3%) and hypophosphataemia (n = 3; 5.9%) significantly decreased (P < 0.001). The number of urinary abnormalities decreased and there was a reduction in urinary calcium (P < 0.001), pH (P = 0.001) and citrate levels (P = 0.003).
Conclusion
Individuals with PHPT and nephrolithiasis frequently have elevated baseline PTH and calcium levels. Low volume, hypercalciuria, high urinary pH, and hypocitraturia are the most frequent urinary disorders. Parathyroidectomy is effective in normalizing serum calcium and PTH levels, although other urinary metabolic may persist. Patients should be monitored for the need for citrate supplementation.

Purpose
To assess collagen content and types in the rectus abdominis muscle of cadavers of different ages.
Methods
Forty fresh adult male cadavers within 24 h of death were obtained from an Institute ...of Legal Medicine and divided by age at death into Group 1 (mean age, 23.3 years; range, 18–30 years;
n
= 20) and Group 2 (mean age, 46.2 years; range, 31–60 years;
n
= 20). From each cadaver, samples of the rectus abdominis muscle measuring 1 cm
2
were collected 3 cm superiorly and 2 cm inferiorly to the umbilicus. Histological sections were prepared and stained with picrosirius red and Masson’s trichrome stain for visualization of total collagen fibers, and immunohistochemical analysis was performed to distinguish types I, II, III, IV and V collagen.
Results
No significant differences in total collagen were found between groups by Masson’s trichrome staining. However, picrosirius red staining revealed a significantly greater amount and higher concentration of total collagen and types I and III collagen in Group 1 than in Group 2 (

< 0.05). All but type II collagen were detected by immunohistochemistry in both groups. No significant difference in type IV collagen was found between groups. Type V collagen was detected by immunohistochemistry in both groups, but quantification was not possible due to background staining.
Conclusion
The amounts of types I and III collagen in the rectus abdominis muscle were significantly smaller in older subjects.

Abstract Objectives To identify the clustering of physical inactivity in leisure, work, commuting and household contexts, and the sociodemographic factors associated with the clustering of inactive ...behaviour in different domains among Brazilian adults. Study design Cross-sectional population-based study. Methods The study was performed in Florianopolis, capital of Santa Catarina, one of the southern states of Brazil, from September 2009 to January 2010. Adults aged 20–59 years were interviewed. Physical inactivity in each domain was defined as non-participation in specific physical activities, using a validated Brazilian questionnaire. Clustering of physical inactivity was identified by the ratio between observed prevalence and expected prevalence of 16 different combinations. Multinomial logistic regression was used in the analysis of sociodemographic factors associated with clustering of physical inactivity. Results Of the 1720 interviewees, the greatest differences between the observed and expected proportions were observed in simultaneous physical inactivity in the leisure and household domains for men, and physical inactivity in the leisure domain alone for women (59% and 88%, respectively); these differences were higher than expected if the behaviours were independent. Physical inactivity in two or more domains was observed more frequently in men and in individuals with a higher per-capita family income. Ageing was associated with physical inactivity in three or four domains. Conclusions Physical inactivity was observed in different domains according to gender. Men and older individuals with a higher per-capita family income were more likely to exhibit physical inactivity when all domains were considered together.

Objective: To describe the food intake of garbage collectors, who works in three shifts, in terms of meal and snack frequency, content, time distribution and the contribution of various popular foods ...to the total diet. Methods: Sixty-six Brazilian garbage collectors, who work in morning, afternoon, and night shift, participated in the present study. The quantitative methods used were a combination of one 24-h recall and two 24-h records during three nonconsecutive work days. The qualitative method used was the food-based classification of eating episodes model modified in order to define meals or snacks in three categories of events: meals with three food groups of high nutrient density (three HND meals), meals with two food groups of high nutrient density (two HND meals) and snacks, composed of only one food category of high nutrient density. Results: The total number of eating events per day was significantly higher for night shift workers. Over 24-h, ‘two HND meals’ were the most common events and contributed the most energy, in all three shifts. Night shift workers ate more at dawn and less in the morning than other shifts. In all three shifts, meat was the most important food contributing to energy intake. Conclusion: Different work schedules did not affect the relative frequency of meal types and snacks or their contribution to daily energy intake, but affected the daily distribution of eating events, with a redistribution of intake from day to night in night shift workers.
