Due to environmental and demographic impacts, there is a high probability of a series of changes occurring on our planet over the next decades. In addition, a significant increase in the prices of ...all hydrocarbons due to limited world reserves is expected in the next decades. The combined use of renewable energy technologies and alternative energy technologies is a promising approach to reduce global warming effects in the world. In this paper, a solar concentrated power plant analysis based on the Rankine Cycle (RC) is performed, heated by means of various renewable energy sources. First, solar energy is used, followed by wood biomass energy. The solar energy is used during days full of sunshine. The heat energy from the concentrated solar power system process, stored in the big heat reservoir, is used to produce hydrogen during the night and during cloudy weather. In the period without sunshine and when we use all heat from the heat reservoir, biomass energy is used. This article examines the efficiency of a specific thermochemical hydrogen production cycle called the Copper-Chlorine cycle (CuCl). In the article, energy and economy analysis for the case of central European market prices, will be analyzed.
Multilayer thin films consisting of 10 bilayers of (Al2O3+Ni)/Al2O3 were deposited by magnetron sputtering onto Si(100) substrate. Nickel nanoparticles are formed inside amorphous alumina matrix by ...self-assembly growth process. It was determined by GISAXS measurements that nickel particles are spheroidal with diameter < 3 nm and that they form paracrystal-like body-centered tetragonal lattice. Magnetic properties of the prepared thin films were studied. Due to the nanometer size of nickel particles, their magnetic structure is single domain and they show superparamagnetic behaviour. Anisotropy of magnetic properties was observed when magnetic field is applied parallel or perpendicular to the thin film surface and it was attributed to dipole-dipole interactions between particles. This was confirmed using simulations of the M(H) curve of the 2D superlattice of the identical superparamagnetic particles, which was performed using Monte Carlo method and Metropolis algorithm.
The effect of processing temperature on structural and superconducting properties of 10 wt.% sugar- and 10 wt.% PCS-doped MgB2 wires is systematically investigated. It is demonstrated that these ...dopants significantly enhance the electromagnetic performance of Fe-clad MgB2 superconductor and increase its potential for practical application. The enhancement of in-field critical current density (Jc(Ba)) and upper critical field (Bc2) is due to formation of a large amount of lattice defects caused by impurities and C substitution into the MgB2 crystal lattice. High temperature sintering of sugar-doped sample results in as high Bc2 value as 37 T (at 5 K), which correlates with higher level of C substitution into MgB2 crystal lattice in this sample. In contrast, for PCS doped MgB2 wire higher Bc2 value (32 T at 5 K) is observed at lower sintering temperatures. In spite of the fact that the level of C in the crystal lattice and Bc2 value are higher in the sugar doped MgB2 sample, this sample has lower Jc(Ba) when compared to the sample with PCS addition. We speculate that it is due to a higher level of MgO impurities in the sugar doped sample (18.6 wt.% compared to 9.15 wt.% in the PCS doped sample), which results in the dissipation of supercurrent flowing through this sample.

Gorski kotar dosad je rijetko bio predmet iscrpnijih etnoloških i povijesnih istraživanja,
što se može iščitati iz nedostatka povijesnih vrela za rekonstrukciju predmigracijskoga
stanja na ...gorskokotarskome području. Usto, o stanovništvu Gorskoga kotara
prije 13. stoljeća povijesni izvori ne govore mnogo, nema vijesti o naseljima ni središtima
gospodarskoga i upravnoga života. Kako je riječ o prostoru koji je dugotrajno
bio obilježen migracijama uzrokovanim osmanlijskim napadima, u literaturi se često
navode teze o novopridošlome stanovništvu pristiglom upravo zbog bježanja od osmanlijske
sile. Zahvaljujući tom naseljavanju, trajno se izmijenila gorskokotarska jezična i
izvanjezična zbilja koju bi znanstveno-stručnim pristupom valjalo rasvijetliti. U ovome
se radu povijesni podatci donose iz postojeće literature, a nedavno provedeno jezično
istraživanje na štokavskome ikavskom području Gorskoga kotara demantiralo je neke
prethodno postavljene tvrdnje.
Data warehouses have been present in the business environment for several decades, providing businesses with deeper insight into their business data through which they gain competitive advantage and ...decision-making support. However, the integrated characteristics of data warehouses can be a key factor in improving process automatization through the integration of various heterogeneous sources, speeding up certain processes, and providing process integration in the organization without impacting the existing infrastructure. In this paper, an analytical system based on a data warehouse is presented which integrates data sources in a high education institution, such as internal operational applications and structured and semi-structured files, and incorporates new data sources such as websites and their interfaces. By introducing the integration of the data sources, processes that share the same data scattered across multiple tiles or need multiple manual entries can use a single source of truth, while also having the possibility of automatic integration of open-access data. In the paper, the necessary processes are identified, and their respective data marts are proposed, while also providing proof-of-concept for several chosen processes.
Precise understanding of the scene around the car is of the utmost importance to achieve autonomous driving. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have been widely used for road scene understanding in ...the last few years with great success. Surround view (SV) systems with fisheye cameras have been in production in various cars and trucks for close to a decade. However, there are very few CNNs that are employed directly on SV systems due to the fisheye nature of its cameras. Typically, correction of fisheye distortion is applied to the data before it is processed by the CNNs, thereby increasing the system complexity and also reducing the field of view (FOV). In this paper, we propose RotInvMTL: a multi-task network (MTL) to perform joint semantic segmentation, boundary prediction, and object detection directly on raw fisheye images. We propose a rotation invariant object detection decoder that adapts to fisheye distortion and show that it outperforms YOLOv2 by 9% mAP. By combining the MTL outputs, an accurate foot-point information and a rough instance level segmentation may be obtained, both of which are critical for automotive applications. In conclusion, RotInvMTL is an efficient network that performs well for autonomous driving applications.
Power grid's traditional security assessment approach-based on SCADA data and off-line studies conducted long in advance of real time operations-are becoming increasingly problematic for real time ...operations because they cannot fully anticipate all the conditions faced by operators. New technologies that rely on accurate, high-resolution, real-time monitoring of actual (not hypothesized) system conditions using synchronized measurement technologies are needed to support the real-time operations. The purpose of these tools and systems is to monitor, assess, enable, and ultimately, automatically take the necessary control action to prevent or mitigate problems in real time. The proposed applications of synchronized measurements for power grids will provide the realtime operating staff with previously unavailable yet greatly needed tools to avoid grid instabilities, and to monitor generator's response to abnormal excursions in system frequency. The objective of this paper is to point out benefits of using synchronized measurements for selected realtime applications, to summarize ongoing projects and experience worldwide, and emphasize the need for a practical roadmap toward greater deployment of the technology
