Psychological resilience may reduce the impact of psychological distress to some extent. We aimed to investigate the mental health status of the public during the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 ...(COVID-19) and explore the level and related factors of anxiety and depression.
From February 8 to March 9, 2020, 3,180 public completed the Zung's Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) for anxiety, Zung's Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) for depression, the Connor-Davidson resilience scale (CD-RISC) for psychological resilience, and the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire (SCSQ) for the attitudes and coping styles.
The number of people with depressive symptoms (SDS > 53) was 1,303 (the rate was 41.0%). The number of people with anxiety symptoms (SAS > 50) was 1,184 (the rate was 37.2%). The depressed group and anxiety group had less education, more unmarried and younger age, as well as had significant different in SDS total score (
< 0.001), SAS total score (
< 0.001), CD-RISC total score (
< 0.001), and SCSQ score (
< 0.001). The binary logistic regression showed that female (
= -0.261,
= 0.026), strength (
= -0.079,
= 0.000), and the subscales of active coping style in SCSQ (
= -0.983,
= 0.000) remained protective factors and passive coping style (
= 0.293,
= 0.003) and higher SAS score (
= 0.175,
= 0.000) were risk factors for depression. Optimism (
= -0.041,
= 0.015) in CD-RISC was a protective factor, and passive coping styles (
= 0.483,
= 0.000) and higher SDS score (
= 0.134,
= 0.000) were risk factors for anxiety.
This study adopted a cross-sectional design and used self-report questionnaires.
The mental health of the public, especially females, the younger and less educational populations, and unmarried individuals, should be given more attention. Individuals with high level of mental resilience and active coping styles would have lower levels of anxiety and depression during the outbreak of COVID-19.
A facile colloidal solution method has been developed for the fast, scalable synthesis of orthorhombic@cubic core–shell nonstoichiometric Cu5FeS4 icosahedral nanoparticles. Such nanoparticles contain ...high‐density twin boundaries in the form of fivefold twins. Spark plasma sintering consolidates the nanoparticles into nanostructured pellets, which retain high‐density twin boundaries and a tuned fraction of the secondary phase Fe‐deficient cubic Cu5FeS4. As a result, the thermal and electrical transport properties are synergistically optimized, leading to an enhanced zT of ≈0.62 at 710 K, which is about 51% higher than that of single‐phase Cu5FeS4. This study provides an energy‐efficient approach to realize twin engineering in nonstoichiometric Cu5FeS4 nanomaterials for high‐performance thermoelectrics.

The aim of this study was to analyze the chief complaints of psychological crisis hotlines during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in Jiangsu, China, and to summarize the ...psychological characteristics of the public during the different stages of COVID-19.
The chief complaints of calls to the psychological crisis hotline from 27 January 2020 to 30 June 2020. A total of 578 calls were extracted and grouped using thematic analysis into categories. After statistical analysis, the monthly and three-period trends were observed dynamically to determine whether there were statistical differences in the proportion of specific chief complaints over the phases.
There were a total of 495 cases of psychological problems or physical discomfort, accounting for 85.64% of the total sample number of hotline calls related to the pandemic. The numbers of callers with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, illness anxiety, insomnia, and physical discomfort were 370 (64.01%), 103 (17.99%), 33 (5.71%), 36 (6.23%), 51 (8.82%), and 72 (12.46%), respectively, and 83 (14.36%) callers consulted other problems. The monthly main complaints showed a fluctuating trend, and each main complaint peaked at different stages. The main complaints during the three stages had distinct features, respectively, and the proportions of calls for the specific complaints differed statistically over the phases.
Dynamic observation and qualitative analysis of psychological crisis hotline data might indicate dynamic changes and accordingly provide guidance for online crisis intervention when other public health crises occur.
Shizothorax grahami (S. grahami) is an underlying economic cold-freshwater fish in southwest China. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome of S. grahami was determined (GenBank accession ...number is NC_029708). The mitochondrial genome sequence of S. grahami was a circular molecule with 16,584 bp in length, and contained 37 typical animal mitochondrial genes including 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes and a control region (D-loop). Four nucleotide compositions and their relative proportions of the entire mitogenome was 27.14% C, 19.93% G, 29.58% A and 25.34% T. Among most species of genus Shizothorax, Schizothorax davidi had the closest relationship with S. grahami, and then Schizothorax prenanti.
The potentially hazardous iron-containing sludge from the Fenton process requires proper treatment and disposal, which often results in high treatment cost. In this study, a novel method for the ...reuse of Fenton sludge as an iron source for the synthesis of nickel ferrite particles (NiFe204) is proposed. Through a co-precipitation method followed by sintering at 800℃, magnetic NiFe204 particles were successfully synthesized, which was confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Raman spectros- copy. The synthesized NiFe204 could be used as an efficient catalyst in the heterogeneous Fenton process. In phenol degradation with H202 or NiFe204 alone, the phenol removal efficiencies within the reaction time of 330 min were as low as 5.9% ±0.1% and 13.5% ± 0.4%, respectively. However, in the presence of both NiFe204 and H202, phenol removal efficiency as high as 95% ± 3.4% could be achieved, indicating the excellent catalytic performance of NiFe204 in the heterogeneous Fenton process. Notably, a rapid electron exchange between --NiH and --Fem ions in the NiFe204 structure could be beneficial for the Fenton reaction. In addition, the magnetic catalyst was relatively stable, highly active and recoverable, and has potential applications in the Fenton process for organic pollutant removal.

Aberrant expression of microRNAs plays vital roles in tumor development and progression. As transcription factors (TFs) are the critical components of signaling cascades, specific targeting effects ...of microRNAs to specific TFs may determine the role of microRNAs in different cancers. In this study, we identified Nuclear Factor I/B (NFIB) as one of the targets of miR-365 which was previously verified as an onco-miR in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC). Down-regulation of NFIB was a general feature in both CSCC cell lines and tumors from patients which show drastically up-regulated miR-365 expression levels. The siRNA-based knockdown of NFIB mimic the carcinogenic transformation of normal cells by ectopically expression of miR-365 which indicates depletion of NFIB is necessary for miR-365 to exert its pro-carcinogenic function. NFIB may represent a functional barrier targeted by miR-365 to the development of CSCC. Further studies also discovered a conserved feedback regulatory circuitry formed by NFIB and miR-365 in CSCC development which may be potentially utilized as therapeutic target to improve the clinical CSCC treatment.

In this study, Pt-Pd nanoparticles (NPs) supported on few-layer graphene (FLG) have been firstly prepared by one-step arc discharge evaporation of carbon electrodes containing both Pt and Pd ...elements. The few-layer graphene and Pt-Pd nanoparticles were achieved simultaneously through the evaporation process. After a high-temperature hydrogen treatment, the Pt-Pd/graphene was applied in the study of methanol oxidation in direct methanol fuel cell. The total weight of electrocatalyst keeps 2 wt% of the electrode. The sample with a mass ratio of Pt:Pd = 3:1 (H-Pt3Pd1/G) exhibits better electrocatalytic activity (198 mA mg-1 pt) and better tolerance to carbon monoxide(CO) poisoning (If/Ib = 1.26). It is noteworthy that the value of If/Ib can reach to 1.55 for the sample with the mass ratio of Pt:Pd = 2:1 (H-Pt2Pd1/G),which implies its excellent ability of CO tolerance. The introduction of Pd element may open a new strategy to improve the CO tolerance by arc discharge evaporation.

Many previous studies have reported factors that contribute to health-related quality of life (HRQoL) for a single skin disease. However, little is known about generalized factors associated with ...HRQoL across skin diseases. The objective of this study was to investigate overall HRQoL, and to identify factors related to severely impaired HRQoL among patients with 16 different skin diseases. A cross-sectional study of 9845 patients with skin disease was conducted in 9 hospitals in China. HRQoL was assessed with the Chinese version of the Skindex-29 which measures dermatology-specific health along three domains (symptoms, emotions and functioning). With the published Skindex-29 cut-off scores for severely impaired HRQoL, logistic regression models assessed the relationship between severely impaired HRQoL and demographic/clinical characteristics, with adjustments for different skin diseases. To guarantee the models' convergence, 16 skin diseases with frequencies of at least 100 were included, and the sample size was 8789. Emotions was the most impaired aspect of HRQoL. Co-existing chronic diseases, 3 years or longer duration, and more severity were identified as associated factors for severely impaired HRQoL for each Skindex-29 domain, and for the aggregate. Being female, under 45 years old, and consuming alcohol were associated with a severely impaired emotion domain; Lack of exercise and smoking were associated with severely impaired symptoms and function domains, respectively. Skin diseases can affect many facets of HRQoL, but the emotional impairment deserves more attention. In addition to skin disease severity, this study shows that other chronic diseases and long duration are correlated with severely impaired HRQoL for patients with 16 clinical common skin diseases. This suggests the need for increased awareness in treating skin disease as a chronic disease. It also suggests that disease management decisions should consider HRQoL improvement, especially emotional conditions, when making management decisions.

To construct a polygenic risk score (PRS) for coronary artery disease (CAD) and comprehensively evaluate its potential in clinical utility for primary prevention in Chinese populations.
Using ...meta-analytic approach and large genome-wide association results for CAD and CAD-related traits in East Asians, a PRS comprising 540 genetic variants was developed in a training set of 2800 patients with CAD and 2055 controls, and was further assessed for risk stratification for CAD integrating with the guideline-recommended clinical risk score in large prospective cohorts comprising 41 271 individuals. During a mean follow-up of 13.0 years, 1303 incident CAD cases were identified. Individuals with high PRS (the highest 20%) had about three-fold higher risk of CAD than the lowest 20% (hazard ratio 2.91, 95% confidence interval 2.43-3.49), with the lifetime risk of 15.9 and 5.8%, respectively. The addition of PRS to the clinical risk score yielded a modest yet significant improvement in C-statistic (1%) and net reclassification improvement (3.5%). We observed significant gradients in both 10-year and lifetime risk of CAD according to the PRS within each clinical risk strata. Particularly, when integrating high PRS, intermediate clinical risk individuals with uncertain clinical decision for intervention would reach the risk levels (10-year of 4.6 vs. 4.8%, lifetime of 17.9 vs. 16.6%) of high clinical risk individuals with intermediate (20-80%) PRS.
The PRS could stratify individuals into different trajectories of CAD risk, and further refine risk stratification for CAD within each clinical risk strata, demonstrating a great potential to identify high-risk individuals for targeted intervention in clinical utility.
