The conclusions of EFSA following the peer review of the initial risk assessments carried out by the competent authorities of the rapporteur Member State the Netherlands and co‐rapporteur Member ...State Spain for the pesticide active substance pyriproxyfen and the assessment of applications for maximum residue levels (MRLs) are reported. The context of the peer review was that required by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 844/2012. The conclusions were reached on the basis of the evaluation of the representative uses of pyriproxyfen as an insecticide on citrus fruit, pome fruit (apple, pears), tomatoes, ornamentals (field use) and tomatoes, ornamentals (greenhouse application). MRLs were assessed in citrus fruits. The reliable end points, appropriate for use in regulatory risk assessment and the proposed MRLs, are presented. Missing information identified as being required by the regulatory framework is listed. Concerns are identified.

22q11.2 microdeletion syndrome (22q11DS) is associated with a 25% risk of psychotic onset.
The sample consist of 120 subjects: 39 schizophrenics (SCZ); 20 siblings of schizophrenic patients (SIB); 34 ...22q11DS non-psychotic patients (DEL); 17 22q11DS psychotic patients (DEL_scz); 30 control subjects (CS). Social cognition was evaluated with the awareness of social interference test. Intelligence Quotient (IQ) was calculated with Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. TASIT (Awareness of Social Inference Test) performance was analyzed via MANOVA, including IQ as covariate.
Group and IQ showed significant effect (p < 0.001; p = 0.037). The only TASIT variables where IQ showed no effect were paradoxical sarcasm; sincerity; lie. In sincerity, CS group shows a better performance than both 22q11DS groups (p < 0.05). In paradoxical sarcasm and lie, CS group performed better than each clinical group (p < 0.05). Regarding lie, DEL group was worst also respect to SCZ group (p = 0.029).
Our results show a specific social cognition deficit in 22q11DS and schizophrenia.
ABSTRACT
Background
Pisa syndrome (PS) and camptocormia (CC) are postural abnormalities frequently associated with Parkinson's disease (PD). Their pathophysiology remains unclear, but the role of ...cognitive deficits has been postulated.
Objectives
To identify differences in the neuropsychological functioning of patients with PD with PS or CC compared with matched patients with PD without postural abnormalities.
Methods
We performed a case‐control study including 57 patients with PD with PS (PS+) or CC (CC+) and 57 PD controls without postural abnormalities matched for sex, age, PD duration, phenotype, and stage. Patients were divided into four groups: PS+ (n = 32), PS+ controls (PS−, n = 32), CC+ (n = 25), and CC+ controls (CC−, n = 25). We compared PS+ versus PS− and CC+ versus CC− using a neuropsychological battery assessing memory, attention, executive functions, visuospatial abilities, and language. Subjective visual vertical (SVV) perception was assessed by the Bucket test as a sign of vestibular function; the misperception of trunk position, defined as a mismatch between the objective versus subjective evaluation of the trunk bending angle >5°, was evaluated in PS+ and CC+.
Results
PS+ showed significantly worse visuospatial performances (P = 0.025) and SVV perception (P = 0.038) than their controls, whereas CC+ did not show significant differences compared with their control group. Reduced awareness of postural abnormality was observed in >60% of patients with PS or CC.
Conclusions
Low visuospatial performances and vestibular tone imbalance are significantly associated with PS but not with CC. These findings suggest different pathophysiology for the two main postural abnormalities associated with PD and can foster adequate therapeutic and prevention strategies.

The conclusions were reached on the basis of the evaluation of the representative uses of terbuthylazine as a herbicide on maize and sorghum and taking into account the scientific opinion of the EFSA Panel on Plant Protection Products and their Residues (PPR) on the setting of health‐based reference values for metabolites of the active substance terbuthylazine. The reliable endpoints concluded as being appropriate for use in regulatory risk assessment, derived from the available studies and literature in the dossier peer reviewed, are presented. Background
Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is a rare rapidly progressive, neurodegenerative disease characterized by falls and ocular movement disturbances. The use of health-related quality of ...life (HR-QoL) measures allows assessing changes in health status induced by therapeutic interventions or disease progress in neurodegenerative diseases. The PSP-QoL is a 45-item, self-administered questionnaire designed to evaluate HR-QoL in PSP.
Methods and Results
Here, the PSP-QoL was translated into Italian and validated in 190 PSP (96 women and 94 men; mean age ± standard deviation, 72 ± 6.5; mean disease duration, 4.2 ± 2.3) patients diagnosed according to the Movement Disorder Society criteria and recruited in 16 third level movement disorders centers participating in the Neurecanet project. The mean PSP-QoL total score was 77.8 ± 37 (physical subscore, 46.5 ± 18.7; mental subscore, 33.6 ± 19.2). The internal consistency was high (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.954); corrected item-total correlation was > 0.40 for the majority of items. The significant and moderate correlation of the PSP-QoL with other HR-QoL measures as well as with motor and disability assessments indicated adequate convergent validity of the scale. Gender and geographic location presented a significant impact on the PSP-QoL in our sample with women and patients from the South of Italy scoring higher than their counterparts.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Italian version of the PSP-QoL is an easy, reliable and valid tool for assessment of HR-QoL in PSP.

Caring for a partner or relative who suffers ...from PSP entails a strenuous and demanding task, usually lasting for years that affects carers’ everyday life routines and emotional and social well-being. The 26-item Parkinsonism Carers QoL (PQoL Carer) is a self-administered, concise instrument evaluating the quality of life of caregivers of patients with atypical parkinsonism (both PSP and multiple system atrophy). Here, the PQoL Carer was translated into Italian and validated in 162 carers of PSP patients (54.3% women; mean age (standard deviation), 62.4 (15.4)) diagnosed according to the Movement Disorder Society criteria and recruited in 16 third-level movement disorders centers participating in the Neurecanet project. The mean PQoL total score was 40.66 ± 19.46. The internal consistency was excellent (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.941); corrected item-total correlation was > 0.40 for all the items. A correlation with other health-related quality of life measures as well as with behavioral assessments was shown suggesting adequate convergent validity of the scale. PQoL also correlated with patients’ severity of disease. The discriminant validity of the scale was evidenced by its capacity to differentiate between carers with varying levels of self-reported health (

< 0.001). In conclusion, the Italian version of the PQoL Carer is an easy, consistent, and valid tool for the assessment of the quality of life in carers of PSP patients.
