This two-year field study aims to investigate the impact of organic pesticides used in organic Damask rose (Rosa damascena Mill.) fields on Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungal (AMF) colonization. Conducted ...in the renowned Rose Valley of Bulgaria, specifically in the village of Kliment, the experiment employed a randomized complete block design with two rows of 21 plants each in organic certified plots. The results revealed low AMF colonization in the first year, ranging between 14.78% and 20.89%, with no significant differences between treatments. In the second year, while no significant differences were observed between treatments (ranging from 48.00% to 76.49%), there was a notable increase in AMF colonization compared to the initial sampling. The study concluded that specific organic pesticides, including Neemazal, Limocide, Phytosev, and Nano sulfur, had minimal negative effects on AMF colonization. These findings contribute to understanding the implications of organic farming practices on AMF and soil health in the context of Damask rose cultivation.
We present the results of the three-month above-ground commissioning run of the Large Underground Xenon (LUX) experiment at the Sanford Underground Research Facility located in Lead, South Dakota, ...USA. LUX is a 370kg liquid xenon detector that will search for cold dark matter in the form of Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs). The commissioning run, conducted with the detector immersed in a water tank, validated the integration of the various sub-systems in preparation for the underground deployment. Using the data collected, we report excellent light collection properties, achieving 8.4 photoelectrons per keV for 662keV electron recoils without an applied electric field, measured in the center of the WIMP target. We also find good energy and position resolution in relatively high-energy interactions from a variety of internal and external sources. Finally, we have used the commissioning data to tune the optical properties of our simulation and report updated sensitivity projections for spin-independent WIMP-nucleon scattering.

Current educational trends, the emergence of the knowledge society, societal changes, and globalization influenced the higher education at the greater level and thus resulted in a quality education ...and quality assurance, the transformation of the education system and changes in teaching and learning approaches like virtual learning and more technologically enhanced learning like the GIF-ELM. Among a wide range of GIF’s has been introduced to academic institutions and industries. As revealed in this study, the thirty-five (35) teachers who are utilizing GIF-ELM, agreed that the level of effectiveness of the GIF-ELM when it comes to Accuracy, Significance, and Presentation is highly effective. The Enhanced Students Performance after using GIF-ELM is found also highly effective. Diversity refers to the diversification and multiple dimensions in information transmission of technology that will enhance the performance of the Grade 8 students, the results revealed that it is Highly Effective. With this, the utilization of learning materials using GIF-ELM stimulate students’ concentration and awareness of the learning contents. The same viewpoint was stated in stressing that the presence of suitable learning material is a necessity for a smooth process of sharing information between the teacher and learners.
The Large Underground Xenon (LUX) experiment is a dual-phase xenon time-projection chamber operating at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (Lead, South Dakota). The LUX cryostat was filled for ...the first time in the underground laboratory in February 2013. We report results of the first WIMP search data set, taken during the period from April to August 2013, presenting the analysis of 85.3 live days of data with a fiducial volume of 118 kg. A profile-likelihood analysis technique shows our data to be consistent with the background-only hypothesis, allowing 90% confidence limits to be set on spin-independent WIMP-nucleon elastic scattering with a minimum upper limit on the cross section of 7.6 × 10(-46) cm(2) at a WIMP mass of 33 GeV/c(2). We find that the LUX data are in disagreement with low-mass WIMP signal interpretations of the results from several recent direct detection experiments.

We present constraints on weakly interacting massive particles (WIMP)-nucleus scattering from the 2013 data of the Large Underground Xenon dark matter experiment, including 1.4×10^{4} kg day of ...search exposure. This new analysis incorporates several advances: single-photon calibration at the scintillation wavelength, improved event-reconstruction algorithms, a revised background model including events originating on the detector walls in an enlarged fiducial volume, and new calibrations from decays of an injected tritium β source and from kinematically constrained nuclear recoils down to 1.1 keV. Sensitivity, especially to low-mass WIMPs, is enhanced compared to our previous results which modeled the signal only above a 3 keV minimum energy. Under standard dark matter halo assumptions and in the mass range above 4 GeV c^{-2}, these new results give the most stringent direct limits on the spin-independent WIMP-nucleon cross section. The 90% C.L. upper limit has a minimum of 0.6 zb at 33 GeV c^{-2} WIMP mass.

LUX is a dual-phase xenon time ...projection chamber operating at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (Lead, South Dakota), which is designed to observe the recoil signature of galactic WIMPs scattering from xenon nuclei. A profile likelihood ratio analysis of 1.4×10^{4} kg day of fiducial exposure allows 90% C.L. upper limits to be set on the WIMP-neutron (WIMP-proton) cross section of σ_{n}=9.4×10^{-41} cm^{2} (σ_{p}=2.9×10^{-39} cm^{2}) at 33 GeV/c^{2}. The spin-dependent WIMP-neutron limit is the most sensitive constraint to date.

We present measurements of the electron-recoil (ER) response of the LUX dark matter detector based upon 170000 highly pure and spatially uniform tritium decays. We reconstruct the tritium energy ...spectrum using the combined energy model and find good agreement with expectations. We report the average charge and light yields of ER events in liquid xenon at 180 and 105V/cm and compare the results to the NEST model. We also measure the mean charge recombination fraction and its fluctuations, and we investigate the location and width of the LUX ER band. These results provide input to a reanalysis of the LUX run 3 weakly interacting massive particle search.

The Large Underground Xenon (LUX) collaboration has designed and constructed a dual-phase xenon detector, in order to conduct a search for Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs), a leading dark ...matter candidate. The goal of the LUX detector is to clearly detect (or exclude) WIMPS with a spin independent cross-section per nucleon of 2×10−46cm2, equivalent to ∼1event/100kg/month in the inner 100-kg fiducial volume (FV) of the 370-kg detector. The overall background goals are set to have <1 background events characterized as possible WIMPs in the FV in 300 days of running.

The Large Underground Xenon (LUX) dark matter experiment aims to detect rare low-energy interactions from Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs). The radiogenic backgrounds in the LUX detector ...have been measured and compared with Monte Carlo simulation. Measurements of LUX high-energy data have provided direct constraints on all background sources contributing to the background model. The expected background rate from the background model for the 85.3day WIMP search run is (2.6±0.2stat±0.4sys)×10-3 events keVee-1kg-1day-1 in a 118kg fiducial volume. The observed background rate is (3.6±0.4stat)×10-3 events keVee-1kg-1day-1, consistent with model projections. The expectation for the radiogenic background in a subsequent one-year run is presented.
