Domestic violence against a woman, inflicted by her husband/partner, disrupts the socially recognized model of partnership and family life and endangers the health and life of the victim. The aim of ...the study was to assess the level of satisfaction with the life of Polish women experiencing domestic violence and compare it to results of women not experiencing domestic violence.
A cross-sectional study was conducted on a convenience sample of 610 Polish women divided in two groups: victims of domestic violence (Group 1,
= 305) and women not experiencing domestic violence (Group 2,
= 305).
Most Polish women experiencing domestic violence are characterized by low life satisfaction. The mean value of life satisfaction in Group 1 was 13.78, SD = 4.88, significantly lower when compared to Group 2 (M = 21.04, SD = 5.61). Their satisfaction with life is related, among other things, to the form of violence inflicted upon them by their husband/partner. Abused women with low life satisfaction are most often victims of psychological violence. The most common cause is the perpetrator's addiction to alcohol and/or drugs. Assessment of their life satisfaction is unrelated to help-seeking and to the occurrence of violence in their family home in the past.
Cerebrovascular diseases (including strokes) are currently the second leading cause of death in the world 1,2. In Poland, statistical data are quite diverse, depending on their source. Stroke ...patients are often at risk of chronic disability. A significant number of them are doomed to lose their independence and self-care for the rest of their lives. The aim of the study is to present selected nursing problems and ways to solve them in a patient after ischemic stroke who requires round-the-clock care in the field of nursing and care services as part of inpatient long-term care. The subject of the study is the process of nursing a patient diagnosed with ischemic stroke who requires round-the-clock care in the field of nursing and care services as part of long-term care. The study uses a research method - a case study, supported by individual observation, measurements, interview and analysis of medical records. Two scales were used to assess the patient's condition: Barthel and Norton. Conclusions: The individual care plan takes into account the most important problems arising from the specificity of the disease entity, needs and individual situation of the patient. The patient's care problems after a stroke are presented and proposed an effective solution to ensure the best possible care. Nursing and care difficulties have been properly recognized, which has enabled appropriate nursing interventions. Due to systematic prophylactic measures, the patient did not suffer from complications. A detailed interview and careful observation made it possible to plan and implementation of interventions (not only nursing) to provide comprehensive care. The urgent procedure of admitting the patient to the care and treatment facility contributed to the improvement of the quality and availability of health care services, which translated into an improvement in the patient's general condition.

The basic research tool consisted of the author's own survey prepared in two versions: (K) for the woman and (M) for the child's father. The study was to assess the level of stress and the health locus of control in parents of hospitalized newborns.
The study covered a group of 150 parents of 126 newborns who were hospitalized in the ...Neonatal Pathology Ward at the University Children’s Hospital in Lublin. The diagnostic survey method was applied with the use of an original questionnaire as well as some standardized tools: Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and Multidimensional Health Locus of Control Scale (MHLC – version B).
In more than a half of the subjects (54.0%), a high level of stress was observed. Every fourth (26.1%) parent was characterized by an average level of stress and nearly every fifth (19.3%) by a low level of stress. The highest indicator was characterized by the domain of the internal health control locus. Every fifth parent represented an undifferentiated type - weak or magnifying the impact of others (22.0% and 20.0% respectively). The smallest group of parents (5.3%) belonged to the externally-oriented, strong type.
The parents of hospitalized newborns are characterized mainly by high and average levels of stress and low level of severity of health control location within each of its domains. The highest indicator of internal locus control and the influence of others are characterized by parents with low and average levels of stress. The dominant type of locus of health control that characterizes parents is the undifferentiated type – weak and magnifying the impact of others.
