The photoproduction of isolated photons, both inclusive and together with a jet, has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 374 pb−1. Differential cross ...sections are presented in the isolated-photon transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges 6<ETγ<15 GeV and −0.7<ηγ<0.9, and for jet transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges 4<ETjet<35 GeV and −1.5<ηjet<1.8, for exchanged-photon virtualities Q2<1 GeV2. Differential cross sections are also presented for inclusive isolated-photon production as functions of the transverse energy and pseudorapidity of the photon. Higher-order theoretical calculations are compared to the results.

Production of exclusive dijets in diffractive deep inelastic Formula omitted scattering has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 372 pb Formula omitted. The ...measurement was performed for Formula omitted-p centre-of-mass energies in the range Formula omitted and for photon virtualities Formula omitted. Energy flows around the jet axis are presented. The cross section is presented as a function of Formula omitted and Formula omitted, where Formula omitted, x is the Bjorken variable and Formula omitted is the proton fractional longitudinal momentum loss. The angle Formula omitted is defined by the Formula omitted-dijet plane and the Formula omitted- Formula omitted plane in the rest frame of the diffractive final state. The Formula omitted cross section is measured in bins of Formula omitted. The results are compared to predictions from models based on different assumptions about the nature of the diffractive exchange.
Introduction
. The drugs affecting a mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stresses, apoptosis and inflammation of the vascular wall, have a high potential for the prevention and treatment of ...atherosclerotic lesions. In this regard, the use of EPOR/CD131 heteroreceptor agonists which have a similar spectrum of pharmacological effects, is one of the promising strategies in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
Materials and Methods
. The study was carried out on 68 C57Bl/6J male mice. Atherosclerosis was simulated in transgenic animals with an endotheliospecific knockdown of the Polg gene by simulating a balloon injury and keeping on a Western diet. Then, the studied drugs were injected once every 3 days at the dose of 20 μg/kg for 27 days. On the 28-th day, the animals were euthanized and the area of atherosclerotic plaques was assessed. The gene expression associated with the processes of inflammation, antioxidant protection, apoptosis, and angiogenesis was also determined in the aortic tissues. In addition, the endothelium protective effect of peptides on primary cultures of endothelial cells of wild and transgenic Polg-D257A mice was studied.
Results
. No statistically significant effect of drugs on the area of lipid infiltration have been found. However, the studied peptides have significantly reduced the expression of proinflammatory genes (iNos, Icam1, Vcam1, Sele, Il6, Tnfa), the genes associated with angiogenesis (Vegfa, Kdr, and Hif1a), the expression of proapoptic factors; they decreased the Bax/Bcl-2 ratio by more than 1.5 times. In addition, when supplemented with H2 O2 in vitro, peptides dose-dependently increased endothelial cell survival.
Conclusion
. The erythropoietin-based peptides can be used to improve the functional state of the vascular wall against the background of atherosclerotic lesions and have a depressing effect on pathobiological processes associated with a mitochondrial dysfunction. In addition, the studied peptides have a significant endothelial protective effect in the induction of oxidative stress in vitro.
The ZEUS inclusive differential cross-section data from HERA, for charged and neutral current processes taken with e + and e- beams, together with differential cross-section data on inclusive jet ...production in e + p scattering and dijet production in \(\gamma p\) scattering, have been used in a new NLO QCD analysis to extract the parton distribution functions of the proton. The input of jet-production data constrains the gluon and allows an accurate extraction of \(\alpha_s(M_Z)\) at NLO; \(\alpha _{s} {\left( {M_{Z} } \right)} = 0.1183 \pm 0.0028{\left( {\exp .} \right)} \pm 0.0008{\left( {{\text{model}}} \right)}.\) An additional uncertainty from the choice of scales is estimated as \(\pm 0.005\). This is the first extraction of \(\alpha_s(M_Z)\) from HERA data alone.

The production of isolated high-energy photons accompanied by jets has been measured in deep inelastic ep scattering with the ZEUS detector at HERA, using an integrated luminosity of 326 pb−1. ...Measurements were made for exchanged photon virtualities, Q2, in the range 10 to 350 GeV2. The photons were measured in the transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges 4<ETγ<15 GeV and −0.7<ηγ<0.9, and the jets were measured in the transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges 2.5<ETjet<35 GeV and −1.5<ηjet<1.8. Differential cross sections are presented as functions of these quantities. Perturbative QCD predictions give a reasonable description of the shape of the measured cross sections over most of the kinematic range, but the absolute normalisation is typically in disagreement by 20–30%.

HIV infection is a major health problem in Russia. We aimed to assess HIV prevalence in different population groups and to compare the characteristics of 4th generation immunoassays from Abbott, ...Bio-Rad, Vector-Best, Diagnostic Systems, and Medical Biological Unit.
The study included 4452 individuals from the general population (GP), 391 subjects at high risk of HIV infection (HR) and 699 with potentially interfering conditions. HIV positivity was confirmed by immunoblot and by HIV RNA, seroconversion and virus diversity panels were also used. HIV avidity was employed to assess recent infections.
The prevalence in GP was 0.40%, higher in males (0.62%) and in people aged < 40 years (0.58%). Patients attending dermo-venereal centers and drug users had a high prevalence (34.1 and 58.8%). Recent infections were diagnosed in 20% of GP and in 4.2% of HR. Assay sensitivity was 100% except for one false negative (99,54%, MBU). Specificity was 99.58-99.89% overall, but as low as 93.26% on HR (Vector-Best). Small differences on early seroconversion were recorded. Only the Abbott assay detected all samples on the viral diversity panel.
HIV infection rate in the high-risk groups suggests that awareness and screening campaigns should be enhanced. Fourth generation assays are adequate but performance differences must be considered.

Lipoprotein(a) - Lp(a) is an independent risk factor of atherosclerosis and its complications. In spite of the long period of Lp(a) research there is no complete understanding of its physiological ...role and atherogenic action. The goal of this study was to investigate the presence in human plasma of circulating autoantibodies to Lp(a) belonging to different classes of immunoglobulins, and to elucidate their relationship to the presence and severity of coronary atherosclerosis in middle aged patients with coronary heart disease.
Autoantibodies to Lp(a) and LDL level were measured in 97 men with quantitative angiography data. Among these patients 17 had intact vessels and 80 had stenoses >50% in 1 or more large coronary arteries.
Lp(a) level in patients with coronary atherosclerosis (CA) was significantly higher (median 19.0 95%CI 12.9-27.3 mg/dl) than in patients without CA (median 10.2 95%CI 4.5-18.3 mg/dl, p=0.05). Level of IgG autoantibodies to Lp(a) was also elevated in patients with verified CA (264 ± 188 and 187 ± 59 RLU, respectively, p=0,003). Correlation analysis showed significant association between Lp(a) concentration and presence of CA (r=0.20, p=0.05). Level of antibodies against Lp(a) correlated with the quantity of affected coronary arteries (r=0.27, p=0.008).
Plasma concentration of Lp(a) as well as elevated level of autoantibodies to Lp(a) were associated with the presence and severity of coronary atherosclerosis in examined patients.
