The content that is taught in school, but also outside it, needs to be connected with real (everyday) life. Teachers need to turn content into experience for their students, which is no easy task. ...The aim of this research is to determine the extent to which primary school teachers, secondary school teachers, and higher education teachers use this method in their work in order to develop critical thinking in their students and how much importance they attach to it during their work in teaching. A questionnaire on critical thinking and experiential learning (N = 168) was conducted, the results of which were analyzed with regard to gender, level of education, work experience, diluted to teach the work environment. The results show that the method of experiential learning with the aim of developing critical thinking is used to a greater extent in teaching (mean = 4.17, SD = 0.55). Differences were observed only with respect to work experience, where teachers with more work experience work statistically significantly more (F = 0.027; t = 3.31; p < 0.01) on developing critical thinking. On the other hand, the need for further awareness, especially of younger teachers, on how to apply experiential learning and what it is important for has been proven. This research has shown the already recognized importance and aspiration to develop critical thinking in students at all levels of education, which will ultimately result in both developed and self-aware individuals and society. It is worrying that about 40% of teachers still do not conduct interactive learning on a regular basis, but it is encouraging that most teachers still recognize how important it is and apply it on a daily basis.
Evaluation of what has been learned, assessment, is one of the fundamental components of modern teaching. The way, the atmosphere and the moment in which the grade is assigned, can significantly ...affect the overall outcome of the learning process. Assessment due to its didactic, methodological and psychological significance affects all stakeholders in the educational system. As one of the primary determinants of assessment is its motivational function, the aim of this research is to determine and present the relationship between the evaluation of what has been learned (assessment) and motivation for the learning process, based on scientific literature and empirical research. Theoretical starting points and empirical research have shown that assessment significantly affects student motivation and as such manages and determines the entire learning process and outcome. The findings of this paper will contribute to practitioners in the field of education by pointing out the limitations of the existing system of evaluation of student achievement. From the scientific aspect, this paper will point to the docimological factors that determine the choice of models and criteria for school assessment and their influence in the form of a motivating factor in the learning process.

The fundamental research question from which this paper is going to be - is there an alternative to alternative education? Alternative schools are in the pedagogical and didactical understanding of ...teaching, often far ahead of their time, sometimes too far. They offer something new and different, much better than traditional classes. Starting from the central location of students in the curriculum, up to curriculum development and teaching classroom design, this school offers us another option - an alternative. This paper represents selected alternative schools and the answer to the research question, and it is in differentiation. Differentiated school is the third alternative and the side by side with alternative schools brings something new and special. The methodology derives from the twenty-day observation of the teaching and the overall work of the gender-differentiated school with teacher interviews. In this qualitative research, the work of the male school that works on the principle of gender differentiation was analyzed and the specialties that this school achieved are described. The most important of them is the principle of work in a homogenous environment and a mentoring system that reinforces the underlying idea of better education. The specialties of gender differentiation are presented and its place in other possibilities of differentiation. The whole work presents a comparative analysis of alternative schools and differentiation and a conclusion about the greater success of such models compared to traditional schools.
The traditional school system has not met the needs of students for
many years. Parents, in order to allow their children to move away from
the rigid class-subject-hour system, established schools. ...The founders
of alternative schools can be citizens, parents and teachers, religious
communities as well as other legal entities. These are the so-called free
schools, civic educational initiatives, reform pedagogical attempts, educational boarding schools, etc. The aim of this paper is to present the
pedagogical concepts and ideas of schools in the Republic of Croatia
whose founders are parents. The paper presents the basic pedagogical
principles and aspects of teaching Waldorf and Montessori pedagogy
based on educational pluralism, a brief overview of partnership between
parents and schools in Croatia and the educational model of primary
Catholic schools “Ružičnjak” and “Lotrščak”. The observed schools are
located in Zagreb and have only one goal - to adapt the school to the
child. An effort is made to provide each student with an individual approach. The starting points are the child’s needs and interests. These are
the schools where students have freedom of choice. The goal of ing and education is the holistic development of the child. The emphasis is on active learning methods and abandoning didactic scenarios in which the child is only a passive observer.

The preschool and elementary school education of Roma children plays an important role in their integration in Croatia. Enrollment of Roma children in preschool activities from an early age is ...necessary to minimize language barriers in primary classes, thus reducing discrimination of Roma children in education and, later, in employment. We studied the readiness of Roma children for school with respect to parents' education, attendance of preschool programs and number of children in the family. We further explored the link between readiness for school and parents' education and residence location. The experience of many countries shows that Roma are in a weak social position, and the biggest reason for this is the low level of education, which makes them unskilled to do most jobs and thus has a high unemployment rate. The plan to prepare Roma children for more successful enrollment in preschool and school activities can be structured differently to minimize the impact of the language barrier. Adapting the curriculum includes measures to provide extra tutoring and opportunities for education in the Roma language, improving schools' material conditions, and organizing remedial classes with special assistance in mastering a particular subject, summer and winter schools.

It is not hard to recognise motivated student. He is interested, curious, active, enthusiastic and does not give up when encounters difficulties, but thinks for further education. Motivation during ...schooling is highly related to a student’s later academic achievement and it is therefore very important to encourage it. This paper discusses the motivation factors and affective component for elementary school students. The empirical research has been carried out through a questionnaire based on the instrument Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) designed and adjusted for researching intrinsic goal orientation, extrinsic goal orientation and anxiety of Croatian elementary school students (1st – 4th grade). The sample of this research consisted of 311 primary school students from rural (N = 103) and urban (N = 208) primary schools. The research was conducted during 2019 in several Croatian counties. The aim of the paper is to determine levels of three motivation factors: intrinsic goal orientation, extrinsic goal orientation and anxiety as an important predictor of future academic success. Secondary goal is to determine differences according to gender, age and the living environment of students. The results had shown that the overall level of motivation of the participants is high from which it is evident that students are highly motivated to work, especially female students. The results also show high level of intrinsic goal orientation, higher level of extrinsic goal orientation and test anxiety comparing to Duncan et. al. (2015) results.
