While NLRP3‐inflammasome has been implicated in cardiovascular diseases, its role in physiological cardiac aging is largely unknown. During aging, many alterations occur in the organism, which are ...associated with progressive impairment of metabolic pathways related to insulin resistance, autophagy dysfunction, and inflammation. Here, we investigated the molecular mechanisms through which NLRP3 inhibition may attenuate cardiac aging. Ablation of NLRP3‐inflammasome protected mice from age‐related increased insulin sensitivity, reduced IGF‐1 and leptin/adiponectin ratio levels, and reduced cardiac damage with protection of the prolongation of the age‐dependent PR interval, which is associated with atrial fibrillation by cardiovascular aging and reduced telomere shortening. Furthermore, old NLRP3 KO mice showed an inhibition of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway and autophagy improvement, compared with old wild mice and preserved Nampt‐mediated NAD+ levels with increased SIRT1 protein expression. These findings suggest that suppression of NLRP3 prevented many age‐associated changes in the heart, preserved cardiac function of aged mice and increased lifespan.
In this study, we have shown the potential role of the NLRP3 inhibition to modulate several anti‐aging mechanisms during cardiac aging. This work highlights the importance of examining the therapeutic and prophylatic value of small molecule inhibitors of NLRP3 and its effects as potential therapy for preventing cardiac and metabolic aging.

Introduction
This narrative review focusing on critical care echocardiography (CCE) has been written by a group of experts in the field, with the aim of outlining the state of the art in CCE in the ...10 years after its official recognition and definition.
Results
In the last 10 years, CCE has become an essential branch of critical care ultrasonography and has gained general acceptance. Its use, both as a diagnostic tool and for hemodynamic monitoring, has increased markedly, influencing contemporary cardiorespiratory management. Recent studies suggest that the use of CCE may have a positive impact on outcomes. CCE may be used in critically ill patients in many different clinical situations, both in their early evaluation of in the emergency department and during intensive care unit (ICU) admission and stay. CCE has also proven its utility in perioperative settings, as well as in the management of mechanical circulatory support. CCE may be performed with very simple diagnostic objectives. This application, referred to as basic CCE, does not require a high level of training. Advanced CCE, on the other hand, uses ultrasonography for full evaluation of cardiac function and hemodynamics, and requires extensive training, with formal certification now available. Indeed, recent years have seen the creation of worldwide certification in advanced CCE. While transthoracic CCE remains the most commonly used method, the transesophageal route has gained importance, particularly for intubated and ventilated patients.
Conclusion
CCE is now widely accepted by the critical care community as a valuable tool in the ICU and emergency department, and in perioperative settings.

Summary
The presence of pharmaceutical compounds in waters and soils is of particular concern because these compounds can be biologically active, even at environmental concentrations. Most ...pharmaceutical contaminants result from inefficient removal of these compounds during wastewater treatment. Although microorganisms able to biodegrade pharmaceuticals compounds have been described, the isolation and characterization of new bacterial strains capable of degrading drugs remain important to improve the removal of this pollutant. In this work, we describe the Sphingomonas wittichii strain MPO218 as able to use ibuprofen as the sole carbon and energy source. The genome of MPO218 consists of a circular chromosome and two circular plasmids. Our analysis shows that the largest plasmid, named pIBU218, is conjugative and can horizontally transfer the capability of growing on ibuprofen after conjugation with another related bacterium, Sphingopyxis granuli TFA. This plasmid appears to be unstable since it undergoes different deletions in absence of selection when growth on ibuprofen is not selected. This is the first described example of a natural and conjugative plasmid that enables growth on ibuprofen and is another example of how horizontal gene transfer plays a crucial role in the evolution of bacteria.

If the disappearance of the broad emission lines observed in changing-look quasars were caused by the obscuration of the quasar core through moving dust clouds in the torus, high linear polarization ...typical of type 2 quasars would be expected. We measured the polarization of the changing-look quasar J1011+5442 in which the broad emission lines have disappeared between 2003 and 2015. We found a polarization degree compatible with null polarization. This measurement suggests that the observed change of look is not due to a change of obscuration hiding the continuum source and the broad line region, and that the quasar is seen close to the system axis. Our results thus support the idea that the vanishing of the broad emission lines in J1011+5442 is due to an intrinsic dimming of the ionizing continuum source that is most likely caused by a rapid decrease in the rate of accretion onto the supermassive black hole.

If the disappearance of the broad emission lines observed in changing-look quasars originates from the obscuration of the quasar core by dusty clouds moving in the torus, high linear optical ...polarization would be expected in those objects. We then measured the rest-frame UV-blue linear polarization of a sample of 13 changing-look quasars, 7 of them being in a type 1.9-2 state. For all quasars but one the polarization degree is lower than 1%. This suggests that the disappearance of the broad emission lines cannot be attributed to dust obscuration, and supports the scenario in which changes of look are caused by a change in the rate of accretion onto the supermassive black hole. Such low polarization degrees also indicate that these quasars are seen under inclinations close to the system axis. One type 1.9-2 quasar in our sample shows a high polarization degree of 6.8%. While this polarization could be ascribed to obscuration by a moving dusty cloud, we argue that this is unlikely given the very long time needed for a cloud from the torus to eclipse the broad emission line region of that object. We propose that the high polarization is due to the echo of a past bright phase seen in polar-scattered light. This interpretation raises the possibility that broad emission lines observed in the polarized light of some type 2 active galactic nuclei can be echoes of past type 1 phases and not evidence of hidden broad emission line regions.

Framed within Self-Determination Theory, the purpose of the present study was to test the effects of a training program with physical education (PE) teachers. Participants were 21 high school PE ...teachers (experimental group, n = 10; control group, n = 11), and their 836 students, aged 12 to 16 years. Teachers in the experimental group received a training program consisting of strategies to support autonomy, competence, and relatedness need satisfaction. A repeated measures ANCOVA was carried out for each dependent variable. After the intervention, students in the experimental group significantly increased their scores on autonomy support, relatedness support, autonomy satisfaction, autonomous motivation, controlled motivation, and intention to be physically active, as compared to the control group. These findings emphasize the utility of a training program with PE teachers to promote the students' psychological need satisfaction, and hence, self-determined motivation toward PE classes.

The current cheapening of next‐generation sequencing has led to an enormous growth in the number of sequenced genomes and transcriptomes, allowing wet labs to get the sequences from their organisms ...of study. To make the most of these data, one of the first things that should be done is the functional annotation of the protein‐coding genes. But it used to be a slow and tedious step that can involve the characterization of thousands of sequences. Sma3s is an accurate computational tool for annotating proteins in an unattended way. Now, we have developed a completely new version, which includes functionalities that will be of utility for fundamental and applied science. Currently, the results provide functional categories such as biological processes, which become useful for both characterizing particular sequence datasets and comparing results from different projects. But one of the most important implemented innovations is that it has now low computational requirements, and the complete annotation of a simple proteome or transcriptome usually takes around 24 hours in a personal computer. Sma3s has been tested with a large amount of complete proteomes and transcriptomes, and it has demonstrated its potential in health science and other specific projects.

Summary
Autophagy is a central degradative pathway highly conserved among eukaryotes, including microalgae, which remains unexplored in extremophilic organisms. In this study, we described and ...characterized autophagy in the newly identified extremophilic green microalga Chlamydomonas urium, which was isolated from an acidic environment.
The nuclear genome of C. urium was sequenced, assembled and annotated in order to identify autophagy‐related genes. Transmission electron microscopy, immunoblotting, metabolomic and photosynthetic analyses were performed to investigate autophagy in this extremophilic microalga.
The analysis of the C. urium genome revealed the conservation of core autophagy‐related genes. We investigated the role of autophagy in C. urium by blocking autophagic flux with the vacuolar ATPase inhibitor concanamycin A. Our results indicated that inhibition of autophagic flux in this microalga resulted in a pronounced accumulation of triacylglycerols and lipid droplets (LDs). Metabolomic and photosynthetic analyses indicated that C. urium cells with impaired vacuolar function maintained an active metabolism. Such effects were not observed in the neutrophilic microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii.
Inhibition of autophagic flux in C. urium uncovered an active recycling of LDs through lipophagy, a selective autophagy pathway for lipid turnover. This study provided the metabolic basis by which extremophilic algae are able to catabolize lipids in the vacuole.

A hyperspectral imaging (HSI) system (380–1000 nm) was investigated for non-invasively estimating adenosine triphosphate (ATP) content in ready-to-eat sausages during 5 days storage at 35 °C. A set of pretreated combinations were carried out on preprocessing the spectra to improve the performance of partial least squares regression (PLSR). According to the regression coefficient values, ten important wavelengths (385, 390, 395, 505, 580, 670, 745, 780, 855, and 955 nm) were selected in this study. PLSR models developed using full wavelengths and optimal wavelengths showed the prediction coefficient of determination (rp2) up to 0.8324 and 0.8606, respectively. The concentration and location of the ATP content in sausages were for the first time displayed via chemical imaging developed by R statistics. Combining HSI and multivariate analysis can quantify and visualize ATP dynamic changes during storage and a great potential in the processed meat industry for real-time inspection.
