Background: Although removal of impacted third molars (I‐M3s) is common in dental clinics, the decision to retain or remove asymptomatic non‐impacted third molars (N‐M3s) presents a significant ...challenge. This study investigates influence of N‐M3s on pathologies of adjacent second molars (A‐M2s).
Methods: Clinical status of M3s was evaluated, and presence of distal caries, external root resorption (ERR), and alveolar bone loss (ABL) of A‐M2s was assessed by orthopantomograms (OPGs). Prevalence of A‐M2 pathologies was evaluated and association between N‐M3s and pathologies of A‐M2s was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression. Significance level was set at 0.05.
Results: OPGs from 1,958 patients were included in the present study. Among these patients, 45.1% presented with at least one N‐M3, and 44.2% of retained M3s were non‐impacted. Where N‐M3s were present, prevalence of distal caries, ERR, and ABL of A‐M2s was 10.0%, 0.8%, and 40.4%, respectively. Although N‐M3s did not increase the odds of caries or ERR of A‐M2s, presence of N‐M3s was associated with 1.77 times higher likelihood of ABL from A‐M2s when data were adjusted for age and sex.
Conclusions: Presence of N‐M3s, even if they are asymptomatic, represents an important risk factor for periodontal health of A‐M2s. This finding should be considered during clinical decision making regarding retention or extraction of N‐M3s, especially when these teeth are non‐functional or when their removal will not affect overall occlusal function.

To compare endothelial loss between recipients who received viral DNA-positive grafts and controls 2 years after corneal transplantation.
We retrospectively analysed the clinical data and endothelial ...cell density of recipients of viral DNA-positive grafts and age-, sex-, aetiology- and operation-matched controls from April 2017 to July 2019 at the Peking University Third Hospital, Beijing, China.
A total of 23/942 (2.44%) donor corneal buttons tested virus-positive by real-time PCR. A total of 27 recipients (except for 2 recipients) of viral DNA-positive grafts and 48 recipients of viral DNA-negative grafts were included in this study. Recipients of viral DNA-positive grafts had a higher endothelial cell (EC) loss rate post-penetrating keratoplasty and post-descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (p<0.05), but post-deep lamellar keratoplasty, the EC loss rate was similar to that of the controls. Recipients of herpes simplex virus-1-, cytomegalovirus- and varicella-zoster virus-positive grafts all had a higher EC loss rate than the controls during the 12- and 24-month follow-up periods (p<0.05).
We inferred that viruses might be hidden in corneal grafts and mainly incubate in the corneal endothelium. Viral DNA-positive grafts do not need to be replaced immediately and can be followed up for a long time.
Anchored stabilizing pile is a typical earthquake-resistant structure in reinforced slope with advantages of safety, reliability and low cost. It demonstrated excellent seismic performance during the ...2008 Great Wenchuan earthquake. However, due to the complexity of the structural system, the coupling relationship between soil, pile, and anchor cable is not well understood at present. This paper developed an analytical model in modeling the dynamic responses of the pile, anchor cable and soil slope system based on Winkler elastic foundation beam theory. The seismic design of the anchored sheet pile wall can then be carried out. An experimental shake-table test was conducted to validate the proposed analytical model. Through the test, the displacements of the pile, axial force of the anchor cable, and earth pressure along the pile derived from the analytical model were validated by the test results. It shows that the proposed analytical model is suitable for the practical application and can provide theoretical basis for dynamic response analysis and seismic design of anchored sheet pile wall.

₀ at approximately 893 °C). With the increase of heat treatment temperature, the size of the lamellar mixture structure inside of the TC4 part gradually grows. When the heat treatment temperature is above
₀, because the cooling rate is relatively steep, the β-phase recrystallization transforms into a compact secondary α-phase, and a basketweave structure can be found because the primary α-phase develop and connect or cross each other with different orientations. The residence time for TC4 SLM parts when the treatment temperature is below the critical temperature has little influence: both the α-phase and the β-phase will tend to coarsen but hinder each other, thereby limiting grain growth. The microhardness gradually decreases with increasing temperature when the TC4 SLM part is treated below the critical temperature. Conversely, the microhardness increases significantly with increasing temperature when the TC4 SLM part is treated above the critical temperature.

Purpose
We detected the DNA of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2), varicella-zoster virus (VZV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) in donor ...corneas and assessed the clinical outcomes of recipients who received virus-positive grafts.
Method
All donor corneas were analyzed for the presence of HSV-1, HSV-2, VZV, CMV, and EBV by real-time PCR from April 2017 to July 2019. The medical records of the transplant patients who received virus-positive grafts were reviewed.
Result
Twenty-three (2.44%) donor cornea buttons tested positive for herpesviridae DNA. The positivity rates of HSV-1, CMV, VZV, and EBV were 0.74%, 0.85%, 0.64%, and 0.21%, respectively.
Conclusion
We suggest that the corneas from donors who had cancer, donors who were inpatients, and donors who had immunodeficiency or who were on immunosuppressive therapy should be tested for herpesviridae DNA before transplantation. Finally, HSV-1 can be transmitted from graft to recipient, but that CMV cannot be transmitted according to our observations. The donor corneas found to be HSV-1-positive have to be discarded and not used for keratoplasty.

Increasing evidence indicates that stimulating hippocampal neurogenesis could provide novel avenues for the treatment of depression, and recent studies have shown that in vitro neurogenesis is ...enhanced by hypoxia. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential regulatory capacity of an intermittent hypobaric hypoxia (IH) regimen on hippocampal neurogenesis and its possible antidepressant-like effect. Here, we show that IH promotes the proliferation of endogenous neuroprogenitors leading to more newborn neurons in hippocampus in adult rats. Importantly, IH produces antidepressant-like effects in multiple animal models screening for antidepressant activity, including the forced swimming test, chronic mild stress paradigm, and novelty-suppressed feeding test. Hippocampal x-ray irradiation blocked both the neurogenic and behavioral effects of IH, indicating that IH likely produces antidepressant-like effects via promoting neurogenesis in adult hippocampus. Furthermore, IH stably enhanced the expression of BDNF in hippocampus; both the antidepressant-like effect and the enhancement of cell proliferation induced by IH were totally blocked by pharmacological and biological inhibition of BDNF-TrkB (tyrosine receptor kinase B) signaling, suggesting that the neurogenic and antidepressant-like effects of IH may involve BDNF signaling. These observations might contribute to both a better understanding of physiological responses to IH and to developing IH as a novel therapeutic approach for depression.
It has been reported that approximately 40% of ALI (acute lung injury) incidence resulted from sepsis. Paclitaxel, as a classic anti-cancer drug, plays an important role in the regulation of ...inflammation. However, we do not know whether it has a protective effect against CLP (cecal ligation and puncture)-induced septic ALI. Our study aims to illuminate the mitigative effects of paclitaxel on sepsis-induced ALI and its relevant mechanisms.
The survival rates and organ injuries were used to evaluate the effects of paclitaxel on CLP mice. The levels of inflammatory cytokines were tested by ELISA. MUC1 siRNA pre-treatment was used to knockdown MUC1 expression in vitro. GO203 was used to inhibit the homodimerization of MUC1-C in vivo. The expression levels of MUC1, TLR 4 and p-NF-κB/p65 were detected by Western blot.
Our results showed that paclitaxel improved the survival rates and ameliorated organ injuries especially lung injury in CLP-induced septic mice. These were accompanied by reduced inflammatory cytokines in sera and BALF (bronchoalveolar lavage fluid). We also found paclitaxel could attenuate TLR 4-NF-κB/p65 activation both in lung tissues of septic mice and LPS-stimulated lung type II epithelial cell line A549. At the upstream level, paclitaxel-upregulated expression levels of MUC1 in both in vivo and in vitro experiments. The inhibitory effects of paclitaxel on TLR 4-NF-κB/p65 activation were reversed in lung tissues of septic mice pre-treated with MUC1 inhibitor and in MUC1-knockdown A549 cells. Protection of paclitaxel on sepsis-induced ALI and decrease of inflammatory cytokines were also abolished by inhibition of MUC1.
Collectively, these results indicated paclitaxel could significantly alleviate acute lung injury in CLP-induced septic mice and LPS-stimulated lung type II epithelial cell line A549 by activating MUC1 and suppressing TLR-4/NF-κB pathway.
Recently, strategies that can target the underlying mechanisms of phenotype change to modulate the macrophage immune response from the standpoint of biological science have attracted increasing ...attention in the field of biomaterials. In this study, we printed a molybdenum-containing bioactive glass ceramic (Mo-BGC) scaffold as an immunomodulatory material. In a clinically relevant critical-size periodontal defect model, the defect-matched scaffold featured robust immunomodulatory activity, enabling long-term stable macrophage modulation and leading to enhanced regeneration of multiple periodontal tissues in canines. Further studies demonstrated that the regeneration-enhancing function of Mo-BGC scaffold was macrophage-dependent by using canines with host macrophage depletion. To investigate the role of Mo in material immunomodulation, in vitro investigations were performed and revealed that Mo-BGC powder extract, similar to MoO42−-containing medium, induced M2 polarization by enhancing the mitochondrial function of macrophages and promoted a cell metabolic shift from glycolysis toward mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. Our findings demonstrate for the first time an immunomodulatory role of a Mo-containing material in the dynamic cascade of wound healing. By targeting the immunometabolism and mitochondrial function of macrophages, Mo-mediated immunomodulation provides new avenues for future material design in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

As a terminal type of micro integrated energy system, micro energy network is small in scale and easy to implement, which meets the needs of developing an integrated energy system. Consequently, it ...has great promotion value. In order to better coordinate the economy, energy conservation and environmental protection of micro energy network, this paper first establishes a multi-objective optimal operation model considering the factors of economy, energy and environment. Second, an improved weighted fuzzy method is proposed to transform the above model into a single-objective one, which can be solved by the particle swarm algorithm. Then, the results and satisfaction of single-objective and multi-objective optimization are compared and analyzed in the example. By optimizing the membership function and multi-objective weight setting method of the traditional weighted fuzzy method, not only the importance of different objectives can be reflected, but also the relationship between single-objective and multi-objective optimization results can be reflected. The proposed improved weighted fuzzy method can improve the comprehensive coordination among multiple objectives and the robustness of the algorithm, optimize the output of each device and realize the coordinated development of energy, environment and economic benefits. It is not only suitable for solving multi-objective optimization problems of micro-energy network, but also for other scenarios.

We compared the efficacy of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) for the diagnosis of renal cystic lesions via a meta-analysis to determine the value ...of CEUS in the prediction of the malignant potential of complex renal cysts. Eleven studies were evaluated: 4 control studies related to CEUS and CECT, 3 studies related to CEUS and 4 studies related to CECT. According to the random effects model, the pooled sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio, and negative likelihood ratio for CEUS/CECT were 0.95/0.90, 0.79/0.85, 4.39/5.00, and 0.10/0.15, respectively. The areas under the summary receiver operating characteristic (AUCs-SROC) curves for the two methods were 94.24% and 93.39%, and the estimated Q values were 0.8805 and 0.8698, respectively. Comparing the Q index values of CEUS and CECT revealed no significant difference between the two methods (P>0.05). When compared with conventional CECT, CEUS is also useful for diagnosing renal cystic lesions in the clinic.
