Background:
Little information is available regarding the incidence and clinical outcome of the SARS-CoV2 infection in patients with multiple sclerosis (pwMS).
Objective:
To determine the incidence, ...clinical outcome, and impact of COVID-19 on pwMS.
Methods:
This observational study was prospectively performed on a cohort of pwMS (N = 11,560) followed up by 47 out of 51 Brazilian MS referral centers that registered pwMS with COVID-19 at the REDONE platform from 13 March to 4 June 2020.
Results:
The incidence of COVID-19 for pwMS patients was 27.7/10,000 patients and for the general population was 29.2/10,000 inhabitants. A total of 94 (77 women) pwMS patients, aged 40 ± 10.25 years, presenting 9.9 ± 8.6 years of MS disease duration, developed the COVID-19, most of them (87%) exhibited the mild form of the disease. Eighty (96%) patients maintained the use of MS disease-modifying treatment (DMT) during COVID-19 pandemic and 14 patients were not in use of DMTs.
Conclusion:
Incidence of COVID-19 in Brazilian pwMS was not different from those observed for the general Brazilian population. Most pwMS exhibited mild COVID-19, despite the maintenance of the underlying MS treatment.

Syfte och frågeställningar Syftet med föreliggande studie är att undersöka idrottslärares didaktiska ställningstaganden under momentet bollspel på grundskolans högstadie Därutöver undersöks hur ...idrottslärares ställningstaganden samspelar med elevers inställning till och uppfattningar om momentet. Undersökningens tre frågeställningar är: • Vilka didaktiska ställningstaganden uppger lärare i idrott och hälsa att de gör inför och under momentet bollspel? ● Hur uppfattar lärare i ämnet idrott och hälsa att de mer konkret stöttar och motiverar elever i årskurs 9 inom bollspel? ● Hur uppfattar elever lärares undervisningssätt i bollspel inom ämnet idrott och hälsa? Metod Frågeställningarna besvaras genom en kvalitativ delstudie i form av en intervjuundersökning med 3 lärare, samt en kvantitativ delstudie bestående av en enkätundersökning med totalt 71 elever. Studiens kvalitativa del, som består av intervjuer med lärare, motiveras av att den kan ge en djupare förståelse för hur läraren förhåller sig till skapandet av en meningsfull undervisning. Studiens teoretiska utgångspunkt är det sociokulturella perspektivet på lärande. Resultat Lärarna i studien menar att deras uppgift är att engagera och motivera eleverna. Det lärarna gör i studien för att motivera och stötta eleverna på ett konkret sätt är, genom att ta reda på bakomliggande orsaker till att eleverna inte är motiverade, sedan jobba på därifrån. Vidare påvisar resultaten att eleverna uppfattar lärarens undervisningssätt positivt, samt att de är medvetna om vad som förväntas av dem och vad syftet med undervisningen är inom idrott och hälsa. Slutsats Lärarnas svar uppvisade inte alls stor variation, kanske för att de alla hade en bakgrund inom bollspel från föreningsidrotten. Däremot visade det sig hur lärarna stöttar och motiverar sina elever på olika vis. Till exempel är grunden för att skapa en bra relation till eleverna att lärarna kan kommunicera på vilka sätt eleven arbetar bäst. Enkätundersökningen visade att majoriteten av eleverna i samtliga skolor tyckte att lärarna inom idrott och hälsa har samma engagemang och motivation inom grenen bollspel liksom i andra grenar inom ämnet idrott och hälsa.

Forced expiratory volume in 6 s (FEV6) has been proposed as a more easily measurable parameter than forced vital capacity (FVC) to diagnose airway disease using spirometry. A study was undertaken to ...estimate FEV6 repeatability, to identify correlates of a good quality FEV6 measurement and of volumetric differences between FEV6 and FVC in elderly patients.
1531 subjects aged 65-100 years enrolled in the SA.R.A project (a cross-sectional multicentre non-interventional study) were examined. FEV6 was measured on volume-time curves that achieved satisfactory start-of-test and end-of-test criteria. Correlates of FEV6 achievement were assessed by logistic regression.
Valid FEV6 and FVC measurements were obtained in 82.9% and 56.9%, respectively, of spirometric tests with an acceptable start-of-test criterion. Female sex, older age, lower educational level, depression, cognitive impairment and lung restriction independently affected the achievement of FEV6 measurement. Good repeatability (difference between the best two values <150 ml) was found in 91.9% of tests for FEV6 and in 86% for FVC; the corresponding figures in patients with airway obstruction were 94% and 78.4%. Both FEV6 and FVC repeatability were affected by male sex and lower education. Male sex, airway obstruction and smoking habit were independently associated with greater volumetric differences between FEV6 and FVC.
In elderly patients, FEV6 measurements are more easily achievable and more reproducible than FVC although 1/6 patients in this population were unable to achieve them.
Archaea occupy a considerable diversity of niches encompassing extreme environments with extreme of pH, salinity and temperature that cannot be tolerated by other forms of life. Survival and ...colonisation requires the capacity to sense, and adapt to environmental change. In this review we consider the issues of adaptation to environmental stresses, in particular the mechanisms that might be employed by different Archaea to respond to the specific challenges of their particular niche. We lay emphasis on the strategies adopted to respond to oxidative and chemical stress. In particular, this paper reviews major key points in the generation of reactive oxygen species in Archaea, defense mechanisms and genetic responses to oxidative stress. Finally, we discuss complex biological response mechanisms to chemical damage with particular attention to detoxification from metals and drugs.
N-(4-Sulfamoylphenyl)-α-
d-glucopyranosylamine, a promising topical antiglaucoma agent, is a potent inhibitor of the zinc enzyme carbonic anhydrase (CA, EC 4.2.1.1). The high resolution X-ray crystal ...structure of its adduct with the target isoform involved in glaucoma, CA II, is reported here. The sugar sulfanilamide derivative binds to the enzyme in a totally new manner as compared to other CA–inhibitor adducts investigated earlier. The sulfonamide anchor was coordinated to the active site metal ion, and the phenylene ring of the inhibitor filled the channel leading to the active site cavity. The glycosyl moiety responsible for the high water solubility of the compound was oriented towards a hydrophilic region of the active site, where no other inhibitors were observed to be bound up to now. A network of seven hydrogen bonds with four water molecules and the amino acid residues Pro201, Pro202 and Gln92 further stabilize the enzyme–inhibitor adduct. Topiramate, another sugar-based CA inhibitor, binds in a completely different manner to CA II as compared to the sulfonamide investigated here. These findings are useful for the design of potent, sugar-derived enzyme inhibitors.

OBJETIVO: Determinar a correlação entre as velocidades diastólicas do Doppler tissular com a idade em amostra de adultos saudáveis, e correlacionar a idade com as velocidades do fluxo transmitral e ...de veias pulmonares. MÉTODOS: Estudados, através da ecocardiografia, 51 indivíduos saudáveis, com idades entre 21 e 69 anos e registradas as velocidades miocárdicas diastólicas ao Doppler tissular e determinadas as velocidades dos fluxos transmitral e venoso pulmonar. RESULTADOS: As velocidades miocárdicas diastólicas iniciais septal basal e lateral basal apresentaram correlação inversa com a idade, com r = - 0,40 (p = 0,004) e r = - 0,60 (p = 0,0001) respectivamente. As velocidades atriogênicas do Doppler tissular foram diretamente correlacionadas com a idade, sendo no segmento septal basal r = 0,56 (p = 0,0001) e no segmento lateral basal r = 0,50 (p = 0,0001). As velocidades do fluxo transmitral e do fluxo venoso pulmonar também mostraram correlação com a idade. CONCLUSÃO: Existe correlação entre a idade e as velocidades miocárdicas diastólicas do Doppler tissular e com as velocidades do fluxo transmitral e fluxo venoso pulmonar, demonstrando em indivíduos saudáveis uma variação de parâmetros da função diastólica do ventrículo esquerdo com a evolução natural da idade.
