Context: HIF1α and VEGF are proteins marker oxidative stress and a decrease in placental growth factor (PlGF). Decreasing of HIF1α and VEGF in rats displayed poor trophoblast differentiation, ...placental abnormalities, and fetal mortality. Rhodomyrtus tomentosa is a flowering plant in the Myrtaceae family that has the potential to be a source of health-promoting chemicals. Aims: To analyze HIF1α and VEGF in serum and hypertension placental tissue after giving Rhodomyrtus tomentosa (RHO) leaves extract. Methods: Six treatments were given to the rats that were identified as being pregnant and pregnant rats with hypertension were given RHO with three doses: (a) normal pregnant rats (control); (b) hypertensive rats; (c) hypertensive rats + 100 mg/kg BW of RHO; (d) hypertensive rats +200 mg/kg BW of RHO; and (e) hypertensive rats + 400 mg/kg BW of RHO and (f) hypertensive rats + nifedipine. Under ketamine anesthesia, pregnant rats were removed on their 20th day of gestation. Immunohistochemistry and ELISA were used to assess HIF1α and VEGF protein expression. Results: There was a significant difference (p<0.01) in the expression of HIF1α and VEGF in the labyrinthine zone and yolk sac of the rat placenta between the normal (C-) and hypertensive (C+) groups. HIF1α and VEGF expression decreased when RHO was administered at doses ranging from 100 to 400 mg/kg BW. However, there was no significant change (p>0.05) in VEGF expression in the basal zone of the rat placenta across all groups. Conclusions: Rhodomyrtus tomentosa leaves extract decreases HIF1α and VEGF expressions in serum and repairs the tissue of the placenta's labyrinth, basal, and yolk sacs.
Buasbuas (Premna pubescens) is a plant that is traditionally known to have medicinal properties. This study aims to determine the content of bioactive compounds contained in the petiole by Gas ...Chromatography Mass Spectrophotometer (GCMS) method. Preparation of ethanol extract of petiole using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. The study used gas chromatographic tools and mass spectra which were evaluated using MASSLAB program. The data obtained from the GCMS machine is then analyzed using the NCBI database pubchem software (https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/). The results of this study indicate that the content of bioactive compounds on the petioles of buasbuas more than 50 libraries contains about 150 species of compounds with a range of RT and% area respectively 4.684 to 28.155 and 0.16 to 15.56%. The content of bioactive compounds shown this data indicates that very large potential of buasbuas plants to be explored and exploitation as a nutritious plant. The results of this study can be used as the foundation in the development program of the potential utilization of bioassemblance of buasbuas plants. In further research it is necessary to analyze the other parts of the plant and make comparisons to complete the available databases.
The objective of this study determines the effect of Plectranthus amboinicus L. Spreng ethanol extract on the hematological profile of rats exposed to Rhodamine-B. This study used 40 male rats that ...divided into eight groups consisted of five rats in each group. Group P0 was given 1% CMC. P1, P2, P3 groups were given 350, 700 and 1050 mg of ethanolic extract of Plectranthus amboinicus L. Spreng (EEP)/kg bw as preventive dose, and P4, P5, P6 groups were given 350, 700 and 1050 mg EEP/kg bw as a curative action, whereas Positive Control (PC) is given 980 mg of Rhodamine-B/kg bw. Preventive treatment was done by giving EEP from the 1st to 42nd day and Rhodamine-B was given from 21st to 42ndday. Whereas in curative treatment is done by inducting Rhodamine-B from the first to the 21st day and followed by EEP from the 22nd until the 42nd day. Parameters being observed were Erythrocyte, Total Leukocyte Count (TLC), Platelet (Plt), Hematocrit (Ht), Hemoglobin (Hb), MCH, MCHC and MCV.The results revealed that Rhodamine-B decreased the erythrocyte level significantly and there was no difference between the prevention and curative treatment. Platelets were decreased significantly in PC treatment but are similar to controls. The treatment in P4 and P5 showed significant increase in platelets level. The total leukocyte increased significantly in P6 treatment. The hematocrit (Ht) profile did not change in all treatments. The hemoglobin profile remains normal, however there was a significant decreased in PC and P6 treatment. MCV and MCH were increased significantly only in PC treatment. There was no difference in MCHC profile in all treatments of EEP and Rhodamine-B.
This study aims to improve students' motivation and learning outcomes by applying Edmodo-based e-learning model in the Biology Education Study Program of Medan State University. The research method ...used is class action research with the application of two cycles. The subjects of this study were 17 students who took basic accounting courses and research objects of activities that took place during the learning process. Data analysis techniques used are descriptive quantitative with percentages used to measure the level of motivation of students, for the results of learning is evaluated at the end of each learning. The results of class action research obtained by the application of Edmodo can improve students' motivation and learning outcomes. This is evident from the implementation of actions starting from pre-action, cycle I, and cycle II. Student learning motivation is said to succeed with an average of 75-100%. The results obtained in cycle action I were 84.11% and 88.11% in cycle II. While the percentage of student learning outcomes also increased. The increase in pre-action from 50.75 to 73.53 in cycle I increased by 22.77, from 73.53 to 87.35 in cycle II which means an increase of 13.82.
