Interpretations of the past in audiovisual texts have increased exponentially in recent years, giving rise to the need to analyse a context saturated by visual representations of history that are ...replacing oral storytelling and traditional narratives. This article offers a reflection on the visual uses of memory and the representation of the past, focusing on documentary cinema at three different historical moments, based on the analysis of representative films from each period: first, the WWII propaganda documentary as the basis for propaganda film rhetoric in the transmission of history; second, the contemporary non-fiction film, in its self-reflexive, subjective essay form; and third, the web documentary as a more recent manifestation of a hybrid multimedia format that is essentially interpretative.

La realidad político-cultural que reflejó Radio televisión valenciana (Rtvv) en sus últimos años de emisión fue una proyección ideológica del proyecto político del Partido popular en su versión más ...explícita. Si hay un caso especialmente extremo es el del tratamiento del accidente de Metrovalencia del 3 de Julio de 2006. A través del análisis comparativo entre el tratamiento de la noticia en los programas diarios de esas fechas de los servicios informativos de Rtvv y la propuesta interactiva de Barret films, el webdocumental O responsables, pretendemos hacer aflorar las estrategias básicas con las que se construye en este caso particular el discurso audiovisual de la tragedia, su dimensión manipuladora y la repercusión de esas informaciones tanto en la sociedad civil, como en la cultura, la memoria o la política.
El auge de las narrativas no lineales multimedia ha propiciado un aumento exponencial de la producción de contenidos audiovisuales que exploran las potencialidades discursivas asociadas al tipo de ...consumo visual contemporáneo, caracterizado por la reticularidad y conectividad del medio, la transmedialidad, la posibilidad de interacción, de geolocalización, de navegación, la movilidad de las pantallas, la atomización de las audiencias o la fragmentación del relato. En este contexto multiforme se abre un espacio para ciertos proyectos independientes de carácter transmediático, que despliegan sus propuestas significantes como un modo de poner en cuestión los mecanismos propios de la representación, de llevar más allá de la referencialidad discursiva sus creaciones, de proponer un marco interpretativo alternativo al hegemónico desde el que el interactor pueda construir su propia interpretación del universo narrativo. En este caso, nos detendremos en el estudio y análisis del proyecto The Undocumented (Marco Williams, 2013), cuya estrategia discursiva principal estriba en la triple materialización del producto: un documental cinematográfico transmedia que complementa la narración fílmica con una aplicación interactiva multimedia en línea, The Map of the Undocumented, y el videojuego crítico The Migrant Trail.

The main objective of this research is to formulate and couple technologies for modeling discrete and continuous media using real particle morphologies. To that end, two coupled formulations based on ...virtual modeling technologies of single real particles with another one called real particle packing technique are presented. The first formulation employs Fourier descriptors’ theory to virtually achieve the morphology and construct a repository of real particle geometries. The second formulation is a particle packing method, supported by advancing front techniques combined with dynamic methods. This method presents a stochastic formulation and allows the packing of particle systems following continuous, discrete and empirical statistical distributions. The coupling of both techniques is a very efficient tool to achieve discrete or continuous media geometries to solve engineering problems. Three different examples are developed to illustrate the usefulness of the formulations. The first one is a discrete angle-of-repose problem involving clusters of spheres (real particle morphologies are described with groups of spheres); in the second example the same angle-of-repose problem is resolved with real particles. In the third case, which involves continuous medium mechanics, a small-scale road engineering problem is modeled, specifically, the testing of an asphalt concrete.

ecological profile in Valencian area is described, also proposing a new phytosociological framework for

Se atribuyen los céspedes naturalizados de Cenchrus clandestinus, conocidos desde hace
30 años de la zona litoral de la Comunidad Valenciana (España), a la asociación Cynodonto dactylonisCenchrusetum clandestinae Antenaza & al., corr. nom. (Trifolio-Cynodontion, Plantaginetalia majoris),
comunidad descrita inicialmente por sus autores para el subcontinente suramericano como Cynodonto
dactylonis-Pennisetetum clandestini. Se discute esta propuesta y se describe su perfil ecológico en el
territorio valenciano, proponiendo además un nuevo marco fitosociológico para dicha asociación. Se
aporta una tabla fitosociológica y tres fotografías.
The discrete element method (DEM) is a numerical method that has achieved general acceptance as an alternative tool to model discontinuous media, with a wide range of practical applications. Given ...that spheres are not always a suitable shape for DEM simulations, other particle shapes need to be used. However, for shapes different from spheres, there are not many advancing front packing algorithms, which are, in many cases, the best algorithms that allow obtaining an appropriate initial set of particles for a DEM simulation. This lack of advancing front packing algorithms for shapes different from spheres is mostly due to the difficulty of solving the problem of placing a mobile particle in contact with other two (in 2D) or three (in 3D) particles. In this paper, a new method for solving the problem of the particle in contact is proposed, and it is compared with the well-established wrappers method. It is shown that the new proposed method is a promising alternative for spherocylinders. For other shapes the formulation of the new method is shown to be correct, but it was clearly outperformed by the wrappers method and the efficiency of the proposed formulation needs to be improved by optimizing the solution procedure.
