A new spouted-bed configuration (rectangular cross-section with air entry through two bottom slots) was investigated as a dryer of milk and a paste mixture of milk and blackberry pulp. The aim was to ...analyze hydrodynamic stability and the effects of operating conditions on powder production efficiency. For the best conditions of paste-feeding flow rate, air temperature and inert type, hydrodynamic was stable and powder production efficiency was greater than 75%. The slot-rectangular spouted bed allowed for tripling of the paste-feeding flow rate at a lower air velocity compared to the conventional geometry, showing its potential for process scale-up.

Spouted bed drying of a paste mixture of milk and blackberry pulp using inert beads of polystyrene and polypropylene was analysed in this work. Atomisation and dripping of the paste were compared as ...feeding modes. The experimental design used atomisation feeding to analyse the effects of air temperature, paste feeding flow rate and paste atomisation pressure on the drying performance. The best results were obtained for drip feeding on polystyrene beads, yielding powder production efficiency >60%, low final moisture content of the powder and <15% anthocyanin degradation.

Dysfunction of the adipose tissue metabolism is considered as a significant hallmark of aging. It has been proposed that α‐β hydrolase domain containing 5 (ABHD5) plays a critical role in the control ...of lipolysis. However, the role of ABHD5 in the control of lipolysis during aging or exercise is unknown. Here we combined the experimental mouse model with transcriptomic analyzes by using murine and human databases to explore the role of ABHD5 in the adipose tissue during aging and in response to exercise. Transcriptomic data revealed a downregulation of Abhd5 messenger RNA levels in the subcutaneous white adipose tissue (scWAT) over time in individuals from 20 to 69 years old. Aged mice displayed dramatic reduction of ABHD5 protein content and lipolytic‐related proteins in the scWAT. Interestingly, 4 weeks of high‐intensity interval training increased ABHD5 protein level and restored the lipolytic pathway in the scWAT of aged mice. Altogether, our findings demonstrated that aging affects ABHD5 content in the adipose tissue of mice and humans. Conversely, exercise increases ABHD5 activity, recovering the lipolytic activity in aged mice.
Significance statement
Dysfunction of the adipose tissue metabolism is considered as a significant hallmark of aging. Here we identify that a pivotal protein involved in the lipolysis mechanism called α‐β hydrolase domain containing 5 (ABHD5) is downregulated in adipose tissue of aged mice. Conversely, high‐intensity interval training (HIIT) recovered ABHD5 protein content and lipolysis mechanism in the subcutaneous adipose tissue of aged mice.

Tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis syndrome (TINU Syndrome) is an uncommon clinical entity, and the majority of patients are adolescents and young women. The case reported refers to an elderly ...patient with ophthalmologic symptoms detected earlier than kidney manifestations, being probably the first case described in Brazil.
Female patient, 60 years-old, sought medical attention for complaints of "red eye". Three months after the first episode of eye manifestation, the patient presented with systemic symptoms and renal dysfunction. Renal biopsy showed tubulointerstitial nephritis with signs of activity.
The pathophysiology of TINU Syndrome remains poorly understood, probably involving both cellular and humoral immunity. This syndrome can be differentiated from systemic conditions associated with nephritis and uveitis, and prior exclusion of other diseases is necessary to confirm diagnosis, especially in the presence of ophthalmologic findings.
The clinical suspicion and the knowledge of the management of the disease by nephrologists, internists and ophthalmologists is mandatory in the treatment of patients with TINU Syndrome.
•Simulation-based games are an important step in education and training.•Simulation-based games are definitely a cost-effective alternative for training.•Simulation-based games can create an ...addictive and motivational stimulation.
The modernization of industrial manufacturing processes has been driven by sophisticated equipment aimed at very large scale productions. For workers, this often has meant learning new and highly specific skills on-the-job, as they adapt to the new machinery. Additionally, the knowledge of most industrial pipelines is scattered among the many workers involved. Current training methods only partly solve the problem, as they tend to be time-intensive, expensive, still potentially hazardous and focused on specific tasks. In this regard, interactive simulation-based games have attracted much attention, and are being considered as a useful tool for improving operational task training and education through operations close to real-world experience. In this work, we present a simulation-based game of steel plates stamping for the heavy industry, describing the main components of the learning environment and the several game resources. An UX evaluation with 13 heavy equipment operators in their actual industrial environment was performed. Moreover, the results show that simulation based methods can be used to provide a global understanding of the entire production pipeline for all employees, instead of a focused effort on just ground-level workers or management staff, contributing to create a motivational working environment and, therefore, making learning much more entertaining.

Lungs require an adequate supply of vitamin A for normal embryonic development, postnatal maturation, and maintenance and repair during adult life. However, recent intervention studies revealed that ...supplementation with retinoids resulted in a higher incidence of lung cancer, although the mechanisms underlying this effect are still unknown. Here, the authors studied the effect of vitamin A supplementation on oxidative stress parameters in lungs of Wistar rats. Vitamin A supplementation either at therapeutic (1000 and 2500 IU/kg) or excessive (4500 and 9000 IU/kg) doses for 28 days induced lipid peroxidation, protein carbonylation, and oxidation of protein thiol groups, as well as change in catalase (EC 1.11.1.6; CAT) and superoxide dismutase (EC 1.15.1.1, SOD) activities and immunocontents. These results altogether suggest that vitamin A supplementation causes significant changes in redox balance the free radical status in lungs, which are frequently associated to severe lung dysfunction.

In Industry 4.0, trends on Servitisation are intertwined with increased use of “smart technologies”, bringing light to Smart Product-Service Systems. Currently, Smart-PSSs need to cope with dynamic ...customer’s needs, which generates system requirements in a higher frequency, resulting in reconfiguration of such system. This research aims to study current issues regarding the reconfiguration of Smart-PSSs, focusing on flexibilization. An exploration of issues is done by a qualitative literature review, with results structured in a schema. This schema approaches issues which are not yet solved or addressed in literature, showing that systemic solutions are necessary to solve explored issues. A discussion of current limitations and trends in research is presented, bridging studied material and pointing out current Industry 4.0 technologies that might cope with the issues if approached systemically. The paper points to further research regarding a expansions on the literature review and next steps on solving current issues.
