are actively carried out around the world. Several vaccines are currently approved for ...emergency use in the population, while ongoing studies continue to provide information on their safety and effectiveness. CoronaVac is an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine with a good safety and immunogenicity profile as seen in phase 1, 2, and 3 clinical trials around the world, with an effectiveness of 65.9% for symptomatic cases. Although vaccination reduces the risk of disease, infections can still occur during or after completion of the vaccination schedule (breakthrough cases). This report describes the clinical and immunological profile of vaccine breakthrough cases reported in a clinical trial in progress in Chile that is evaluating the safety, immunogenicity, and efficacy of two vaccination schedules of CoronaVac (clinicaltrials.gov NCT04651790). Out of the 2,263 fully vaccinated subjects, at end of June 2021, 45 have reported symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection 14 or more days after the second dose (1.99% of fully vaccinated subjects). Of the 45 breakthrough cases, 96% developed mild disease; one case developed a moderate disease; and one developed a severe disease and required mechanical ventilation. Both cases that developed moderate and severe disease were adults over 60 years old and presented comorbidities. The immune response before and after SARS-CoV-2 infection was analyzed in nine vaccine breakthrough cases, revealing that six of them exhibited circulating anti-S1-RBD IgG antibodies with neutralizing capacities after immunization, which showed a significant increase 2 and 4 weeks after symptoms onset. Two cases exhibited low circulating anti-S1-RBD IgG and almost non-existing neutralizing capacity after either vaccination or infection, although they developed a mild disease. An increase in the number of interferon-γ-secreting T cells specific for SARS-CoV-2 was detected 2 weeks after the second dose in seven cases and after symptoms onset. In conclusion, breakthrough cases were mostly mild and did not necessarily correlate with a lack of vaccine-induced immunity, suggesting that other factors, to be defined in future studies, could lead to symptomatic infection after vaccination with CoronaVac.
This article seeks to answer the following question: based on the scientific publications on this topic, what aspects of environmental management systems are small and medium enterprises ...incorporating into their production processes? A bibliometric analysis and systematic review was performed to formulate a response. The study yielded a portfolio of 27 articles directly related to the research available online in the Web of Knowledge and Scopus databases. The bibliometric analysis identified the most relevant articles, authors, keywords and journals published without time slicing on studies between 1999 and 2013, while the systematic review allowed for the compilation of definitions, authors, research types, results and research opportunities. The primary aspects of the environmental management systems incorporated by small and medium enterprises were (1) certification, (2) fault analysis and improvement implementation, (3) environmental responsibility and (4) impact mitigation. Most of the articles in the portfolio database were associated with the study of environmental management systems implementation in small and medium enterprises with an emphasis on results, such as: (1) lack of knowledge on environmental impacts, (2) the need for training, policy, consulting, business cooperation and the integration of systems, (3) high costs at the beginning of implementation and (4) moral gains and cost reduction paired with sustainability in the medium term. Image improvement and the acquisition of new customers were also factors cited in the studies, highlighting the possibility of acquiring competitive advantages through environmental management systems.
•This study was concerned with constructs, definitions, results and research gaps.•Cleaner Production is the most cited journal focused on Environmental Management.•Most articles associated with the subject emphasized four different results.

Omni-channel management is an increasingly popular strategy that involves creating multiple forms of contact between brands and customers to maximise interaction and thereby generate global brand ...experiences, which can constitute a competitive advantage. The television-series sector is no exception to this phenomenon. The aim of the present research is to examine the effect of television-drama-series brand experience on the generation of word-of-mouth communication among viewers. The study analyses the moderating effect of viewers' gender and culture - specifically, the individualism/collectivism variable proposed by Geert Hofstede, - in the context of series with high vs. low levels of sexual and violent content. The results indicate that these variables exert a moderating effect on the relationship between brand experience and word-of-mouth only in the case of TV drama series with a low level of such content. Women and culturally-individualistic audiences will be more prone to the experience-based generation of word-of-mouth for this type of television series.

Cemeteries and crematoria are the main funeral ways used in the world nowadays. It is a little-studied segment in the present days, mainly as for the possible environmental impacts in the ...environment, such as those derived from dental amalgam, prostheses, and dioxins, among other. This article aimed to identify the environmental impacts caused by cemeteries and crematoria and to point out new trends in funeral processes such as freeze-drying and alkaline hydrolysis. The study is justified due to the large part of the Brazilian population that do not know the environmental impacts caused by cemeteries and crematoria, as well as to bring information about the new processes. For that, a research was carried out with 400 people. The main results show that among all the funeral processes, the new freeze-drying process was opted by 33% of the sample. We also identified that the main reasons for choosing the funeral process were less environmental impact (28%), no after-death expenses (grave payment) (16.1%), and the possibility of putting away or throwing away the remains wherever you want (14.9%). Finally, new funeral processes were well accepted by the Brazilian population—those who were interviewed—due to their benefits.
(+)-Catechin is a fundamental polyphenol commonly found in nature. Its aqueous solubility is a key parameter for designing and optimizing extraction processes used to obtain phenolic bioactive ...compounds from plant material. In this work, the solubility of (+)-catechin in water and water-ethanol mixtures was measured spectrophotometrically using a novel shake-flask method (based on a Carousel 12 Plus™ Reaction Station) within the temperature range 277.6–331.2K. A HPLC-DAD system was also used to confirm the solubility measurements. The novel method was previously validated by determining the solubility of benzoic acid in water at temperatures ranging from 278.5 to 340.9K and comparing to literature data. Results showed that the aqueous solubility of (+)-catechin increases with temperature and ethanol concentration, a trend that was well correlated using the so-called Apelblat equation. This behavior was supported by the thermodynamic properties of solution (ΔGsol, ΔHsol, and ΔSsol), whose values indicated that the processes of dissolving (+)-catechin hydrate in water and water–ethanol mixtures were endothermic and entropy-controlled.

Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is one of the most important causes of cancer death in Chile.
A retrospective review of 103 patients with a diagnosis of GBC who were treated with surgery and adjuvant ...radiochemotherapy (RT-CT) was carried out at the Oncological Institute of Viña del Mar, Chile. Of these, 56 underwent surgery with oncological criteria, in which the impact of lymph node involvement and prognostic factors for survival were analysed.
The median follow-up was 47.5 months. The 5-year survival of the patients operated on with oncological surgery was 55%, and for those resected without oncological criteria, it was 32% (
= 0.02). Regarding the impact of lymph node involvement, 5-year overall survival (OS) in patients with compromised lymph nodes was 32% versus 68% for patients without compromised lymph nodes (
= 0.006). Five-year OS in patients without involved nodes, with 1 involved node or with>1 involved node was 68%, 44% and 12%, respectively (
= 0.0002). The N ratio was grouped in 0, <10% and ≥10%. Five-year OS was 71%, 0% and 24%, respectively (
= 0.003). There was no evidence of differences in survival with respect to the number of lymph nodes studied.
Our data provide information regarding the importance of lymph node involvement in patients with GBC undergoing surgery with oncological criteria and adjuvant RT-CT. In the absence of randomised studies, it is suggested to have a more aggressive therapeutic approach in those patients with two or more involved nodes or with a lymph node ratio >10%.

Several vaccines have been developed to control the COVID-19 pandemic. CoronaVac®, an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, has demonstrated safety and immunogenicity, preventing severe COVID-19 cases. We ...investigate the safety and non-inferiority of two immunization schedules of CoronaVac® in a non-inferiority trial in healthy adults. A total of 2302 healthy adults were enrolled at 8 centers in Chile and randomly assigned to two vaccination schedules, receiving two doses with either 14 or 28 days between each. The primary safety and efficacy endpoints were solicited adverse events (AEs) within 7 days of each dose, and comparing the number of cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection 14 days after the second dose between the schedules, respectively. The most frequent local AE was pain at the injection site, which was less frequent in participants aged ≥60 years. Other local AEs were reported in less than 5% of participants. The most frequent systemic AEs were headache, fatigue, and myalgia. Most AEs were mild and transient. There were no significant differences for local and systemic AEs between schedules. A total of 58 COVID-19 cases were confirmed, and all but 2 of them were mild. No differences were observed in the proportion of COVID-19 cases between schedules. CoronaVac® is safe, especially in ≥60-year-old participants. Both schedules protected against COVID-19 hospitalization.
