We demonstrate the very simple realization of field emission devices by using needle-shaped GaN nanorods grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy. For real device fabrication and mass production, we ...fabricated high-density nanorod arrays. The electron emission turn-on eld (Eto) was about 0.5 V/m, and total current was 4.45 mA at 2.06 V/m (current density, J = 54 A/cm2). A uniform "Q" character emission image with high stability was obtained from GaN nanorod-array electron emitters. Blends of the linear bisphenol-A polycarbonate (L-PC) and randomly branched bisphenol-A polycarbonate (Br-PC), prepared by co-rotating twin screw extrusion, were investigated using differential ...scanning calorimetry (DSC), sag resistance time tester, extensional rheometry, and advanced rheometric expansion system (ARES). From the DSC results, the glass transition temperature (T$_{g}$) of the L-PC/Br-PC blend was increased with the increase of Br-PC in the blend, and the blend showed a single T$_{g}$, which suggests a miscible blend. The sag resistance time of the L-PC/Br-PC blend was increased with the increase of Br-PC in the blends. From the results of rheological measurements of the L-PC/Br-PC blends, the extensional viscosity and the complex viscosity of the blends were found to increase with the increase of Br-PC in the blends. The increase of extensional viscosity and complex viscosity was related with the increase of sag resistance time with the Br-PC in the L-PC/Br-PC blends.nds.

Acute cerebral infarction is a major risk factor for postoperative neurologic complications in cardiac surgery. However, the outcomes associated with acute silent cerebral infarction (ASCI) have not ...been not well established. Few studies have reported the postoperative outcomes of these patients in light of preoperative Diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI). We studied the postoperative neurologic outcomes of patients with preoperative ASCI detected by DWI.
We retrospectively studied 32 patients with preoperative ASCI detected by DWI. None of the patients had preoperative neurologic symptoms. The mean age at operation was 68.8±9.5 years. Five patients had previous histories of stroke. Four patients had been diagnosed with infective endocarditis. Single cerebral infarct lesions were detected in 16 patients, double lesions in 13, and multiple lesions (>5) in three. The median size of the infarct lesions was 4 mm (range, 2 to 25 mm). The operations of three of the 32 patients were delayed pending follow-up DWI studies.
There were two in-hospital mortalities. Neurologic complications also occurred in two patients. One patient developed extensive cerebral infarction unrelated to preoperative infarct lesions. One patient showed sustained delirium over one week but recovered completely without any neurologic deficits. In two patients, postoperative DWI confirmed that no significant changes had occurred in the lesions.
Patients with preoperative ASCI showed excellent postoperative neurologic outcomes. Preoperative ASCI was not a risk factor for postoperative neurologic deterioration.

In order to achieve the high Q-value, backside substrate removing by micromachining process and optimization of coil structure by magnetic field simulator were approached. However, this MEMS-like approach is incapable of suppressing the parasitic effects effectively, and involves complex fabrication processes. So, we think that the achievement of high Q was easily realized using a magnetic amplification by magnetic materials. Resonance frequency of inductor was depends on ferro-magnetic resonance (FMR) loss and eddy current loss. Eddy current loss can easily controlled by limitation of thickness. FMR can controlled by stripe patterned magnetic films as increasing of uni-axial shape anisotropy.
