This research aims to study feasibility of incorporation of fine fraction of recycled aggregates coming from construction and demolition waste in cement-based masonry mortar fabrication. Initially, ...three types of recycled aggregates: concrete, mixed and ceramic recycled aggregates, were characterized in terms of physical, mechanical and chemical properties. There were used 1:3 and 1:4 cement-to-aggregate proportions and replacement percentages of 50%, 75% and 100% respectfully for three types of studied recycled aggregates.
Physical characterization of recycled aggregates shows a continuous size distribution curve, lower density and higher absorption, what makes the usage of additive necessary to obtain appropriate consistency. Main crystalline phases shown in the X-ray diffraction analysis were: calcite, quartz and gypsum. According to the results of the dosages study, recycled mortars present poorer behaviour than mortars fabricated using natural stand, however, complying with the limits established by the standards and manufacturers. Therefore, the results of this study suggest the possibility to replace 100% of natural sand with analyzed recycled aggregates.

The effect of chitosan films for shelf-life extension of fresh fillets of hake (Merluccius merluccius) and sole (Solea solea) was evaluated over a 15-day storage at 4 ± 1 °C. Fish fillets wrapped in ...a chitosan matrix were individually packaged in air (AP) and under vacuum (VP). Microbiological analyses (total aerobic mesophilic bacteria, Pseudomonas, H2S-producing bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, Enterobacteriaceae and Listeria monocytogenes were carried out during the shelf-life. The microbial species were inhibited (p < 0.05) by the presence of chitosan films, especially under VP conditions. A significant (p < 0.05) increase of the lag phase and a reduction of the final microbial population were detected mainly for total aerobic mesophilic bacteria, H2S-producing bacteria and Pseudomonas. The present work demonstrates the biocide effectiveness of chitosan as an internal layer of the packaging material, offering a promising alternative which would enhance the quality of fish during refrigerated storage.

The present work reports on the control of silk fibroin (SF) porous structures performance through various processing methods. The study includes the analysis of two dissolving techniques (CaCl2/H2O/EtOH ternary and LiBr/H2O binary solutions), three regeneration methods (gelation, lyophilization and gas foaming) and one post-processing (EtOH). In all the cases, followed steps lead to SF structures with porosity values above 94% and large surface areas. Also, results about samples microstructure, secondary organization, crystallinity and water behavior, reveal a direct correlation between processing and SF properties.
Thanks to the achieved progress, the SF varying porous structures were evaluated for metalloids (As5+ and As3+) and heavy metals (Cr6+ and Cr3+) adsorption, observing a direct relationship between samples processing and ionic species adsorption ability.
Thus, it is shown that the control of the properties of SF based porous structures through processing, represents a suitable and ecofriendly approach for the development of bio-based materials for environmental applications.

Prisoners have a high prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection but may find it difficult to access healthcare services. This may be related to risk behaviour including history of injecting ...drugs and marginalisation related to problem drug use/ opioid use disorder (OUD). Direct-acting antiviral products with superior efficacy and safety compared to interferon-based regimens offer HCV cure. Many citizens in Europe have been treated, although few received therapy in prisons.
Analysis of prisoner HCV treatment need and policy determinants of clinical practice was completed for 5 EU countries. Evidence was collected from national statistical sources and peer-reviewed publications to describe prison populations and HCV prevalence, to map national prison/ HCV health policy or guidance. A consensus of important principles for prisoner HCV care was developed.
Data from published sources describing prisoner HCV prevalence is limited. Prisoner population requiring HCV treatment is not known; estimated numbers based on analysis of evidence: England and Wales, 9000, France, 8000, Spain, 6000, Italy, 6000, Germany, 6000. Treatment access: national law defines right to equivalent care in all countries implying access to HCV therapy in prison similar to community; useful prisoner HCV guidance facilitating treatment decisions present in: 4 of 5 national/ regional HCV policy documents, 4 of 5 national prison healthcare policies. Four of five had practical prison HCV clinical guidelines. Despite existence of policy, implementation of guidance, and so HCV treatment, is suboptimal in many locations.
Prison is an important location to detect, address and treat HCV infection in people who may be underserved for healthcare and find it difficult to navigate community treatment pathways. This is often related to problems with OUD and resulting social inequity. HCV management in prisons must be improved. Policy and clinical practice guidance must be set to promote treatment, and practical steps to make treatment easy should be followed including education to promote engagement, set-up of optimal screening and work up processes with modern tools to reduce time needed/ achieve efficiency; programs to make it easier to get specialists' input include remote working and nurse-led services.

Around 8% of bipolar disorder (BD) patients die by suicide every year, accounting for the highest rate among the psychiatric population. Suicidal behavior (SB) is mediated by an intertwining system of extrinsic and intrinsic factors. Childhood trauma (CT) and gene variants of the stress-management hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis have been reported as risk factors for SB. The aim of this study was to elucidate the association of CT and HPA axis genetic variants with SB.
135 BD patients were recruited for clinical assessment of CT and SB by means of the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) and the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS), respectively. A total of 28 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from 8 HPA axis genes (POMC, NR3C2, CRH-BP, NR3C1, FKBP5, CRHR2, CRHR1, and MC2R) were genotyped.
The analyses showed an association of total CTQ score (p = 0.003), emotional abuse (p = 0.001), sexual abuse (p = 0.005) and emotional neglect (p = 0.005) with SB. CRH-BP rs7728378-C carriers (p = 0.004; OR = 3.05), FKBP5 rs3777747-AA (p = 0.039; OR = 0.34) and FKBP5 rs2766533-GG genotypes (p = 0.001; OR = 2.93) were associated with SB although only rs2766533 survived multiple test correction. No gene-environment interaction was found.
The relatively small sample size limits the statistical power to detect smaller environmental and genetic effects. Cross-sectional data collection in psychometric assessments can yield biased data.
The present study characterizes novel SB risk factors and replicates previous findings in BD patients. CT and variability in CRH-BP and FKBP5 genes should be further studied for a better understanding of SB and ultimately help in suicide prevention.

2020; Psychiatr Danub. 32 412-9). Oxidative stress causes reticulum edoplasmic stress (ER stress) and this produces high levels of misfolded proteins. Defective proteins are degraded by the proteasome, but but when the density of misfolded proteins exceeds the capacity of the proteosome, the Unfolded and Misfolded Protein Response (UPR) is triggered through three main pathways: Inositol-requiring enzyme 1α (IRE1α); transcription factor 6 alpha (ATF6α) and protein kinase RNA-Like ER kinase (PERK), trying to recover normal protein synthesis capacity (Bermejo-Millo

Objectives
Characterizing ER stress and UPR in SCH and BD.
Methods
We studied ER stress and UPR in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from 50 patients with SCH and an equal number of patients with BD compared to their corresponding controls in order to achieve our objectives.

2019; Anal Biochem 575 44-53). Proteasome activity was assessed using Proteasome Activity Assay Kit (ab107921, Abcam, Cambridge, UK).
Results
ER stress was evaluated with BiP/GRP78. Our results showed significantly increased expression in SCH (p<0,01) and BD (p<0,05), being more increased in SCH. Proteasome activity was increased in SCH and BD, being only statistically significant in SQZ (p<0,05). UPR study showed IRE1a cascade significantly activated in SCH (p<0,001) and only slight increased in BD showed without statistical differences. ATF6a pathway is measured by cleavage to active protein (50-kDa). Results showed higher expression in SCH than in BD and controls (p<0,001). In addition, PERK pathway showed higher statistical levels of p-eIF2a/eiF2a ratio in SCH than in BD and control respectively (p<0,05 and p<0,01).
Conclusions
Our results showed a greater alteration in SCH than in BD at the level of protein synthesis, which implies a greater toxicity at the cellular level and, therefore, a clear risk for the survival of cells in this pathology.

Previous studies have indicated systemic deregulation of the proinflammatory or anti-inflammatory balance in individuals with first-episode psychosis (FEP) that persists 12 months later. To identify ...potential risk/protective factors and associations with symptom severity, we assessed possible changes in plasma levels of neurotrophins (brain-derived neurotrophic factor BDNF and nerve growth factor NGF) and their receptors in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Expression of the 2 forms of BDNF receptors (active TrkB-FL and inactiveTrkB-T1) in PBMCs of FEP patients changed over time, TrkB-FL expression increasing by 1 year after diagnosis, while TrkB-T1 expression decreased. The TrkB-FL/TrkB-T1 ratio (hereafter FL/T1 ratio) increased during follow-up in the nonaffective psychosis group only, suggesting different underlying pathophysiological mechanisms in subgroups of FEP patients. Further, the expression of the main NGF receptor, TrkA, generally increased in patients at follow-up. After adjusting for potential confounders, baseline levels of inducible isoforms of nitric oxide synthase, cyclooxygenase, and nuclear transcription factor were significantly associated with the FL/T1 ratio, suggesting that more inflammation is associated with higher values of this ratio. Interestingly, the FL/T1 ratio might have a role as a predictor of functioning, a regression model of functioning at 1 year suggesting that the effect of the FL/T1 ratio at baseline on functioning at 1 year depended on whether patients were treated with antipsychotics. These findings may have translational relevance; specifically, it might be useful to assess the expression of TrkB receptor isoforms before initiating antipsychotic treatment in FEPs.
The molecular biology of human glioma is a complex and fast-growing field in which basic research needs to meet clinical expectations in terms of anti-tumor efficacy. Although much effort is being ...done in molecular biology research, significant contribution to the quality of life and overall survival still lacks. The vastness of molecular biology literature makes it virtually impossible for clinicians to keep up to date in the field. This paper reviews some practical concepts regarding glioma tumorigenesis from the clinician’s perspective. Five main aspects are discussed: major intracellular signaling pathways involved in glioma formation; genomic, epigenetic and transcriptomic relevant features of glioma; the prognostic and predictive values of molecular markers according to the new WHO classification of glial tumors; the importance of molecular and cellular heterogeneity in glioblastoma, responsible for its therapy resistance; and the interaction between glioma and the immune system, in view of the novel and promising targeted therapies.

Introduction
More than 700,000 people die by suicide in 2019 globally (World Health Organitation 2021). Mental health problems constitute a risk factor for suicidal behavior and death by suicide ...(Hoertel et al. Mol Psychiatry 2015; 20 718–726). Different mental disorders have been related to different forms of suicidal ideation and behavior (Conejero et al. Curr Psychiatry Rep 2018; 20, 33) (Quevedo et al. Compr Psychiatry 2020; 102 152194). However, little is known on comorbidity profiles among suicide attempters.
Objectives
The aim of our work was to identify the psychiatric comorbidity profiles of individuals who were admitted a hospital emergency department due to a suicide attempt. Moreover, it intended to know their clinical characteristics according to comorbidity profile.
Methods
A sample of 683 attempters (71.30% female; M age= 40.85, SD= 15.48) from the SURVIVE study was used. Patients were assessed within the 15 days after emergency department admission. Sociodemographic (i.e., sex, age, marital status and employment status) and clinical data were collected. The International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI) was used to assess DSM-V Axis 1 mental health diagnoses and the Columbia Suicide Rating Scale (C-SSRS) to assess suicidal ideation and behavior. The Acquired Capacity for Suicide-Fear of Death Scale (ACSS-FAD), the Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) to assess the frequency of depressive symptoms during the past 2 weeks, and the General Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) scale to assess symptoms of worry and anxiety were also conducted. For the identification of comorbidity profiles, latent class analysis framework was followed considering diagnosis to each individual disorder as clustering variables. On the other hand, binary logistic regression was used to study the relationship between comorbidity profile membership and clinical factors.
Results
Two classes were found (Class I= mild symptomatology class, mainly featured by emotional disorder endorsement; and Class II= high comorbidity class, featured by a wide amount of endorsed diagnoses) (see figure 1). Individuals from the High comorbidity class were more likely to be female (OR= 0.98, p<.05), younger in age (OR= 0.52, p< .01), with more depressive symptoms (OR=1.09, p<.001) and have greater impulsivity (OR= 1.01, p<.05).

Conclusions
We found two profiles of people with suicidal behavior based on the presence of mental disorders. Each of the suicidal subtypes had different associated risk factors. They also had a different profile of suicidal behavior.
