In tectonically active areas, the landscape response to tectonic forcing is described and possibly quantified by regional topographic and hydrographic features as well as by spatial variation in ...rates of surface processes. We investigated the recent landscape evolution of the Iberian Chain (NE Spain), an intraplate thrust-belt formed in Cenozoic times and characterized by a dome-shaped topography. In its central sector the landscape is dominated by low relief surfaces, Late Neogene (?) in age, presently standing at an average altitude of 1300m. A recent regional uplift controlled the organization of the present fluvial network and dissection of the landscape. In this framework we investigated the geomorphic responses to tectonic forcing by the calculation of morphometric parameters, focusing on topography (map of local relief, swath profiles) and hydrography (basin hypsometric curve and integral, basin asymmetry factor, river longitudinal profiles and relative indices), and using SRTM DEM. The results of morphometric analysis have been coupled with radiometric uranium-series dating of calcareous tufas lying on fluvial strath terraces. The obtained ages allow the estimation of incision rate along the High Tajo and Martín rivers. Our results indicate that uplift and rock-type erodibility are the main factors influencing landscape evolution of the study area. The incision rates are very similar throughout the central sector of the range, indicating that, despite subtle local variation, the rivers are responding to a main tectonic input: the regional uplift. In conclusion, the Iberian Chain landscape is in a transient state in response to a recent dome-like uplift. Indeed, the fluvial processes that weakly incised this landscape at a rate of ~0.6mm/yr are approaching a radial pattern. On the basis of geological and geomorphic constraints, we hypothesize that the uplift started around or after 3Ma.

The Iberian Chain (central-eastern Spain) is characterized by a dome-shaped topography with poorly incised and relatively flat landscape in its interior at an elevation of ~1300m. A recent regional ...tectonic event started during or after the Late Pliocene, inducing deep valley incision on the flanks of the Iberian Chain. The rate and timing of this deformation, as well as the magnitude of the uplift-induced erosion processes, still lack a quantitative validation. We used 3D (SIGNUM) and 1-D (river profile) numerical models to investigate the landscape evolution of the Iberian Chain from the Late Pliocene to the present and to study the response of topography and rivers to tectonically induced base level lowering. Our model results are supported by geological, geomorphological and geochronological data. The results of the SIGNUM experiments show that the Iberian Chain topography has experienced regional uplift since ca. 3Ma with rates between 0.25 and 0.55mmy-1. In response to this uplift, rivers have incised at an average long-term incision rate of about 0.22mmy-1 and have progressively captured drainage areas from the chain interior. To further validate the results of landscape evolution modeling, we use a 1-D river incision model to explore the incision history of several rivers draining the Iberian Chain. The results constrain the range of values of bedrock erodibility from 5.810-5 to 5.010-4 m0.4 y-1 and predict long-term incision rates similar to those from the SIGNUM experiments.

Purpose
In the last months, Italy faced a COVID-19 emergency and implemented preventive measures in order to protect patients and healthcare providers from a disease outbreak. The pandemic control ...strategies impacted patient experience directly. Questionnaires evaluating patients reported measures (PREMs) may assess critical issues and represent a helpful tool to measure the patient perception of healthcare service. Our aim was to prospectively assess patient satisfaction about doctor–patient interaction in a high-volume radiation therapy and oncology center during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods
Cancer patients receiving either systemic and/or radiation treatment underwent a survey. Two validated questionnaires (EORTC QLQ-C30, FACIT-TS-G version 1) and 14 specific questions evaluating patients’ perception of COVID-19 measures were administered.
Results
One hundred twenty-five patients admitted to our department from 1–30 April 2020 completed the questionnaires. The majority (66.4%) of patients were women and the most common disease was breast cancer (40%). The average Global Health Status (GHS) of EORTC QLQ-C30 was 61.67. Emotional functioning, social, and cognitive domains obtained scores of 75.48, 80.13, and 84.67, respectively. FACIT-TS-G results revealed 120 patients rated the treatments effective and 108 patients thought the side effects were the same as expected or better. Most (89.6%) rated their treatment good, very good, or excellent. Concerning COVID-19-related questions, patients reported overall very good level of information.
Conclusions
Despite the introduction of strict COVID-19 control measures, there was a high level of cancer outpatient satisfaction. The satisfaction levels may influence compliance, continuity of treatments, and patient–doctor communication, impacting the quality of clinical care in the next phases of the pandemic.

Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) has been shown to increase survival in oligometastatic disease, but local control of colorectal metastases remains poor. We aimed to identify potential predictive factors of SBRT response through a multicenter large retrospective database and to investigate the progression to the polymetastatic disease (PMD).
The study involved 23 centers, and was approved by the Ethical Committee (Prot. Negrar 2019-ZT). 1033 lung metastases were reported. Clinical and biological parameters were evaluated as predictive for freedom from local progression-free survival (FLP). Secondary end-point was the time to the polymetastatic conversion (tPMC).
Two-year FLP was 75.4%. Two-year FLP for lesions treated with a BED < 00 Gy, 100–124 Gy, and ≥125 Gy was 76.1%, 70.6%, and 94% (p = 0.000). Two-year FLP for lesion measuring ≤10 mm, 10–20 mm, and >20 mm was 79.7%, 77.1%, and 66.6% (p = 0.027). At the multivariate analysis a BED ≥125 Gy significantly reduced the risk of local progression (HR 0.24, 95%CI 0.11–0.51; p = 0.000). Median tPMC was 26.8 months. Lesions treated with BED ≥125 Gy reported a significantly longer tPMC as compared to lower BED. The median tPMC for patients treated to 1, 2–3 or 4–5 simultaneous oligometastases was 28.5, 25.4, and 9.8 months (p = 0.035).
The present is the largest series of lung colorectal metastases treated with SABR. The results support the use of SBRT in lung oligometastatic colorectal cancer patients as it might delay the transition to PMD or offer relatively long disease-free period in selected cases. Predictive factors were identified for treatment personalization.

The High-energy Particle Detector (HEPD) on board the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES-01)-launched on 2018 February 2-is a light and compact payload suitable for measuring electrons ...(3-100 MeV), protons (30-250 MeV), and light nuclei (up to a few hundreds of MeV). The Sun-synchronous orbit and large acceptance allow HEPD to measure cosmic-ray particles near the 65° latitude limit for a fair amount of time per day. In this work, three semiannual galactic hydrogen energy spectra between ∼40 and 250 MeV are presented, including a comparison with theoretical spectra from HelMod, a 2D Monte Carlo model developed to simulate the solar modulation of cosmic rays throughout the heliosphere. To our knowledge, these are the first hydrogen energy spectra below 250 MeV measured at 1 au between 2018 and 2020.
Introduction
The immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICPIs) agents anti-T lymphocytes-associated antigen 4 (CTLA-4) and anti-programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) and its ligands (PD-L1/PD-L2) have opened ...a new scenario in the treatment of cancer. These agents can induce immuno-related adverse events (irAEs), which may affect the endocrine system.
Purpose
The aim of this study was to analyze the occurrence and the course of endocrine irAEs in cancer patients treated with anti-PD-1 immunotherapy.
Methods
This was a retrospective, multicentre study, involving cancer patients treated with the PD-1 inhibitors nivolumab or pembrolizumab at reference Oncology Centres. One hundred and seventy-nine consecutive patients with different types of cancer (mostly non-small cell lung cancer, melanoma, kidney cancer) were included in the study. Patients had received nivolumab (70.9%) or pembrolizumab (29.1%) for 2–33 months. The study evaluated clinical data records until the established date of July 15, 2018. The primary end point was the assessment of endocrine toxicity and possible predictive factors.
Results
Endocrine toxicity occurred in 54 out of 179 patients (30.2%) and was related to thyroid dysfunction, with the exception of one case of diabetes mellitus. Thyroid toxicity occurred mostly within 2 months from the initiation of immunotherapy (83% of cases). A pre-existing thyroid dysfunction was a significant predictor of disease flare.
Conclusions
Thyroid alterations are frequently associated with anti PD-1 treatment in cancer patients. Regular thyroid assessment should be performed, particularly in the first months of treatment and in patients with a pre-existing thyroid disease.

The China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite (CSES) aims to monitor electromagnetic, particle, and plasma perturbations in the iono-magnetosphere and inner Van Allen radiation belts originated by ...electromagnetic sources external and internal to the geomagnetic cavity, cosmic rays, and solar events. In particular, the objective of the space mission is to investigate lithosphere-atmosphere-ionosphere coupling mechanisms (including the effects of lightning, earthquakes, volcanoes, and artificial electromagnetic emissions) that induce perturbations of the top side of the ionosphere and lower boundary of the radiation belts. To this purpose, the mission has been conceived to take advantage of a multi-instrument payload comprising nine detectors for the measurement of electromagnetic field components, plasma parameters, and energetic particles, as well as X-ray flux. The Italian team participating in the CSES mission has built one of these devices, the High-Energy Particle Detector (HEPD), for high-precision observations of electrons, protons, and light nuclei. During its trip along the orbit, and thanks to the large set of detectors operated on board, CSES completely monitors the Earth, acting as an excellent instrument for space weather. The satellite was launched on 2018 February 2, with an expected life span of 5 yr. This article describes the CSES mission with a particular focus on the HEPD apparatus and its in-flight performance.
The General Antiparticle Spectrometer (GAPS) is an Antarctic balloon experiment designed for low-energy (0.1–0.3 GeV/n) cosmic antinuclei as signatures of dark matter annihilation or decay. GAPS is ...optimized to detect low-energy antideuterons, as well as to provide unprecedented sensitivity to low-energy antiprotons and antihelium nuclei. The novel GAPS antiparticle detection technique, based on the formation, decay, and annihilation of exotic atoms, provides greater identification power for these low-energy antinuclei than previous magnetic spectrometer experiments. This work reports the sensitivity of GAPS to detect antihelium-3 nuclei, based on full instrument simulation, event reconstruction, and realistic atmospheric influence simulations. The report of antihelium nuclei candidate events by AMS-02 has generated considerable interest in antihelium nuclei as probes of dark matter and other beyond the Standard Model theories. GAPS is in a unique position to detect or set upper limits on the cosmic antihelium nuclei flux in an energy range that is essentially free of astrophysical background. In three 35-day long-duration balloon flights, GAPS will be sensitive to an antihelium flux on the level of 1.3−1.2+4.5·10−6 m-2sr-1s-1(GeV/n)-1 (95% confidence level) in the energy range of 0.11–0.3 GeV/n, opening a new window on rare cosmic physics.

we performed a meta-analysis to assess the usefulness of HLA testing for Narcolepsy diagnosis in four major ethnical groups: Asians, Afro-Americans, Amerindians and Caucasians.
PubMed, EMBASE, Web of ...Science, Scopus and Cochrane databases were searched for articles in English and French published before October 2017 on HLA class II alleles in Narcolepsy. We included case-control studies, cross-sectional and retrospective cohort studies with patients diagnosed following the International classifications of sleep disorders (1990–2012) and ethnically matched controls. Following PRISMA guidelines, two investigators independently extracted data according to the inclusion criteria listed in PROSPERO CRD42017058677. A third researcher was consulted for discrepancies. We extracted and pooled adjusted OR using random-effect models. We verified the strength of the association between HLA-DQB1*06:02 and the worldwide distribution of Narcolepsy type 1 (NT1) and type 2 (NT2); furthermore, we pooled the OR measuring the association between HLA-DQB1*06:02 and NT1, NT2 and hypersomniacs.
We identified 511 titles. Of these, 12 case-control studies were included, for a total of 2077 NT1 patients, 235 NT2 patients, 161 hypersomniacs and 7802 controls. In the population-stratified analysis, HLA-DQB1*06:02 conferred an increased risk for NT1 (OR: 24.1, IC: 14.6–39.5, p < 0.001) and NT2 (OR: 3.9; IC: 2.2–6.8, p < 0.001). For NT1 the pooled estimated positive Likelihood Ratio (LR+) was 5.94 (IC: 3.71–9.51) and the negative Likelihood Ratio (LR-) was 0.23 (IC: 0.16–0.33); for NT2 LR+ was 3.35 (IC: 2.08–5.38) and LR- 0.72 (IC: 0.63–0.81). Moreover, for hypersomniacs LR+ was 1.436 (IC 0.668–3.089) and LR- 0.903 (IC 0.714–1.142).
Our data support the preponderant role of HLA-DQB1*06:02 in susceptibility to NT1/NT2 across all ethnicities. HLA-DQB1*06:02 negativity should make clinicians cautious in excluding other diagnoses.
•HLA-DQB1*06:02 conferred an increased risk for NT1 and, to a lesser extent, NT2.•No relationship between hypersomnia/idiopathic hypersomnia and HLA-DQB1*06:02 was found.•High risk carried by HLA-DQB1*06:02 allele is present in all ethnic groups.•HLA-DQB1 typing is still useful in the diagnosis of narcolepsy with cataplexy.

The General Antiparticle Spectrometer (GAPS) is an upcoming balloon mission to measure low-energy cosmic-ray antinuclei during at least three ∼35-day Antarctic flights. With its large geometric ...acceptance and novel exotic atom-based particle identification, GAPS will detect ∼500 cosmic antiprotons per flight and produce a precision cosmic antiproton spectrum in the kinetic energy range of ∼0.07−0.21GeV/n at the top of the atmosphere. With these high statistics extending to lower energies than any previous experiment, and with complementary sources of experimental uncertainty compared to traditional magnetic spectrometers, the GAPS antiproton measurement will be sensitive to dark matter, primordial black holes, and cosmic ray propagation. The antiproton measurement will also validate the GAPS antinucleus identification technique for the antideuteron and antihelium rare-event searches. This analysis demonstrates the GAPS sensitivity to cosmic-ray antiprotons using a full instrument simulation and event reconstruction, and including solar and atmospheric effects.
