To investigate the safety and efficacy of the Weitan Waifu patch on the postsurgical gastroparesis syndrome (PGS) of gastrointestinal cancer.
The multi-center, double-blind, randomized controlled ...trial was conducted with superiority design. Patients with PGS of gastrointestinal cancer diagnosed in 4 AAA hospitals and the abdominal symptom manifested as cold syndrome by Chinese local syndrome differentiation were recruited. These patients were randomly divided into two groups according to 1∶1 proportion. Placebo or Weitan Waifu patch was applied in control group or intervention group, respectively, based on the basic treatments, including nutrition support, gastrointestinal decompression, promoting gastric dynamics medicine. Two acupuncture points (Zhongwan and Shenque) were stuck with placebo in control group or patch in treatment group. The intervention course was 14 days or reached the effective standard.
From July 15, 2013 to Jun 3, 2015, 128 participants were recruited and 120 eligible cases were included

We present herein a systematic study of a polycrystalline magnetocaloric compound ErFe2Si2. It exhibits a transition from the antiferromagnetic to the paramagnetic phase around 3.0 K according to ...magnetic and heat capacity measurements. Neutron powder diffraction revealed that ErFe2Si2 possesses a superlattice magnetic structure with a propagation vector of (0, 0, 0.5). The superlattice magnetic structure can be modeled by a transverse spin density wave (cosine-modulated) or a spiral type, which cannot be distinguished solely by neutron powder diffraction (NPD) pattern fitting. The stability of different types of magnetic structures was also investigated by first-principles calculations. The ErFe2Si2 compound shows a giant magnetocaloric effect with a maximal negative magnetic entropy change and an adiabatic temperature change of 11.5 J/kg K and 5.7 K, respectively, under the field change of 0–1 T. The large low-field magnetocaloric effect is related to its low critical field of metamagnetic transition and its low quasi-saturation magnetic field. The excellent performance of ErFe2Si2 makes this compound a potential magnetocaloric material for applications at liquid helium temperatures.

Rice stripe is a serious viral disease of japonica rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars in Asia. Resistance to this disease can be divided into that to rice stripe virus (RSV) and to the pest (small ...brown planthopper, SBPH). Here we have used a doubled-haploid (DH) population bred from the cross Zhaiyeqing8 (ZYQ8) × Jingxi17 (JX17) and four separate inoculation methods to genetically dissect the rice stripe resistance present in ZYQ8. Two linked RSV resistance quantitative trait loci (QTLs) were located on chromosome 1, and one on chromosome 11, jointly explaining 30 to 44% of the trait variance. The main-effect qSTV11 was mapped close to the established RSV resistance gene Stvb-i For resistance to SBPH, three QTLs were located, mapping to chromosomes 1, 2, and 11, and jointly explaining 44 to 51% of the trait variance. The large-effect qSBPH1 appears to be a novel QTL conferring a degree of tolerance and antibiosis against SBPH. The positive alleles at all six QTLs were present in ZYQ8. Analysis of a set of chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs) in which chromosomal segments of various indica varieties were present in a japonica background showed that rice stripe resistance genes/QTLs are common on the long arm of chromosome 1.

The Chinese equine infectious anemia virus (EIAV) donkey-leukocyte attenuated vaccine (DLV) provides a unique natural model system to study the attenuation mechanism and immunological control of ...lentivirus replication. Critical consensus mutations were identified between virulent Chinese EIAV strains and vaccine strains. Based on a full-length infectious clone of EIAV vaccine strain pLGFD3, two molecular clones, mFD5-4-7 and mFD7-2-11, were successfully constructed, in which 4 and 6 critical consensus mutations in the env gene of the vaccine strain were point-mutated to the wild-type sequence, respectively by an overlap PCR mutagenesis strategy. The infectivity, virulence, and pathogenesis of the constructed clones were investigated in vitro using a reverse transcriptase assay, an indirect immunofluorescence assay, observation of cytopathogenic effect, and virion observation as well as in vivo by inoculation of animals with the resulting infectious clones. The pathogenic symptoms in horses inoculated with mFD7-2-11 were more severe than those inoculated with mFD5-4-7, whereas no pathogenic symptoms were detected in animals inoculated with their parental clone pLGFD3 strain. The results indicate that the consensus mutation residues of the env region involved in this study play significant roles in the virulence and pathogenicity of EIAV. This will contribute to the elucidation of the attenuating and protective mechanisms of the Chinese EIAV vaccine.

The binding of lectins to glycan receptors on the host cell surface is a key step contributing to the virulence and species specificity of most viruses. This is exemplified by the viral protein ...hemagglutinin (HA) of the influenza A virus, whose binding specificity is modulated by the linkage pattern of terminal sialic acids on glycan receptors of host epithelial cells. Such specificity dictates whether transmission is confined to a particular animal species or jumps between species. Here, we show, using H5N1 avian influenza as a model, that the specific binding of recombinant HA to α2-3 linked sialic acids can be enhanced dramatically by interaction with the surface of the lipid membrane. This effect can be quantitatively accounted for by a two-stage process in which weak association of HA with the membrane surface precedes more specific and tighter binding to the glycan receptor. The weak protein–membrane interaction discovered here in the model system may play an important secondary role in the infection and pathogenesis of the influenza A virus.

Due to the geographical location, development history and many other social-economic factors, the economic development of each city displays significant difference from each other. It is hard to ...characterize the economic development of a city by only looking at one or two measurements, which is only one aspect of a city. A snap shot of a city with all of its data information could provide its holographic image. With its evolution along time, the image can be even more impressive, but is still hard to compare with its peer cities given its multivariate nature. From system point of view, no matter how complicate the appearance of a system is, it will be always associated to its intrinsic characteristics. In this work, data from four municipalities in China are analysed quantitatively to discuss different development patterns by Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Hierarchical Clustering Analysis methods, correlation of factors and urban development patterns are clearly obtained and explained.
We extract the e+e−→π+π− cross section in the energy range between 600 and 900 MeV, exploiting the method of initial state radiation. A data set with an integrated luminosity of 2.93 fb−1 taken at a ...center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider is used. The cross section is measured with a systematic uncertainty of 0.9%. We extract the pion form factor |Fπ|2 as well as the contribution of the measured cross section to the leading-order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to (g−2)μ. We find this value to be aμππ,LO(600–900MeV)=(368.2±2.5stat±3.3sys)⋅10−10, which is between the corresponding values using the BaBar or KLOE data.
