Fangcang shelter hospitals were established in China during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic as a countermeasure to stop the spread of the disease. To our knowledge, no research has ...been conducted on mental health problems among patients in Fangcang shelter hospitals. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and major influencing factors of anxiety and depressive symptoms among COVID-19 patients admitted to Fangcang shelter hospitals. From February 23, 2020, to February 26, 2020, we obtained sociodemographic and clinical characteristics information of COVID-19 patients in Jianghan Fangcang Shelter Hospital (Wuhan, China) and assessed their mental health status and sleep quality. Data were obtained with an online questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of a set of items on demographic characteristics, a set of items on clinical characteristics, the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, Self-Rating Depression Scale, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Three hundred seven COVID-19 patients who were admitted to Jianghan Fangcang Shelter Hospital participated in this study. The prevalence of anxiety and depressive symptoms were 18.6% and 13.4%, respectively. Poor sleep quality and having ≥ two current physical symptoms were independent risk factors for anxiety symptoms. Female sex, having a family member with confirmed COVID-19, and having ≥ two current physical symptoms were independent risk factors for depressive symptoms. Anxiety and depressive symptoms were found to be common among COVID-19 patients in Fangcang Shelter Hospital, with some patients being at high risk.

Although numerous studies have investigated the association of ambient air pollution with hypertension and blood pressure (BP), the results were inconsistent. We performed a comprehensive systematic ...review and meta-analysis of these studies. Seven international and Chinese databases were searched for studies examining the associations of particulate (diameter<2.5 μm (PM2.5), 2.5–10 μm (PM2.5-10) or >10 μm (PM10)) and gaseous (sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), ozone (O3), carbon monoxide (CO)) air pollutants with hypertension or BP. Odds ratios (OR), regression coefficients (β) and their 95% confidence intervals were calculated to evaluate the strength of the associations. Subgroup analysis, sensitivity analysis, and meta-regression analysis were also conducted. The overall meta-analysis showed significant associations of long-term exposures to PM2.5 with hypertension (OR = 1.05), and of PM10, PM2.5, and NO2 with DBP (β values: 0.47–0.86 mmHg). In addition, short-term exposures to four (PM10, PM2.5, SO2, NO2), two (PM2.5 and SO2), and four air pollutants (PM10, PM2.5, SO2, and NO2), were significantly associated with hypertension (ORs: 1.05–1.10), SBP (β values: 0.53–0.75 mmHg) and DBP (β values: 0.15–0.64 mmHg), respectively. Stratified analyses showed a generally stronger relationship among studies of men, Asians, North Americans, and areas with higher air pollutant levels. In conclusion, our study indicates a positive association between ambient air pollution and increased BP and hypertension. Geographical and socio-demographic factors may modify the pro-hypertensive effects of air pollutants.

Synthesizing 2D metal–organic frameworks (2D MOFs) in high yields and rational tailoring of the properties in a predictable manner for specific applications is extremely challenging. Now, a series of ...porphyrin‐based 2D lanthanide MOFs (Ln‐TCPP, Ln=Ce, Sm, Eu, Tb, Yb, TCPP=tetrakis(4‐carboxyphenyl) porphyrin) with different thickness were successfully prepared in a household microwave oven. The as‐prepared 2D Ln‐TCPP nanosheets showed thickness‐dependent photocatalytic performances towards photooxidation of 1,5‐dihydroxynaphthalene (1,5‐DHN) to synthesize juglone. Particularly, the Yb‐TCPP displayed outstanding photodynamic activity to generate O2− and 1O2. This work not only provides fundamental insights into structure designing and property tailoring of 2D MOFs nanosheets, but also pave a new way to improve the photocatalytic performance.
Through thick and thin: A series of porphyrin‐based 2D lanthanide MOFs of different thickness are successfully synthesized through a microwave‐assisted route. The photocatalytic activity of as‐prepared nanosheets can be effectively regulated by the thickness and by the metal nodes.

Adaptive evolution following colonization can affect the impact of invasive species. The fall webworm (FWW) invaded China 40 years ago through a single introduction event involving a severe ...bottleneck and subsequently diverged into two genetic groups. The well‐recorded invasion history of FWW, coupled with a clear pattern of genetic divergence, provides an opportunity to investigate whether there is any sign of adaptive evolution following the invasion. Based on genome‐wide SNPs, we identified genetically separated western and eastern groups of FWW and correlated spatial variation in SNPs with geographical and climatic factors. Geographical factors explained a similar proportion of the genetic variation across all populations compared with climatic factors. However, when the two population groups were analysed separately, environmental factors explained more variation than geographical factors. SNP outliers in populations of the western group had relatively stronger response to precipitation than temperature‐related variables. Functional annotation of SNP outliers identified genes associated with insect cuticle protein potentially related to desiccation adaptation in the western group and genes associated with lipase biosynthesis potentially related to temperature adaptation in the eastern group. Our study suggests that invasive species may maintain the evolutionary potential to adapt to heterogeneous environments despite a single invasion event. The molecular data suggest that quantitative trait comparisons across environments would be worthwhile.

Thrips are tiny insects from the order Thysanoptera (Hexapoda: Condylognatha), including many sap‐sucking pests that are causing increasing damage to crops worldwide. In contrast to their closest ...relatives of Hemiptera (Hexapoda: Condylognatha), including numerous sap‐sucking species, there are few genomic resources available for thrips. In this study, we assembled the first thrips genome at the chromosomal level from the melon thrips, Thrips palmi, a notorious pest in agriculture, using PacBio long‐read and Illumina short‐read sequences. The assembled genome was 237.85 Mb in size, with 1,324 contigs and a contig N50 of 567 kb. All contigs were assembled into 16 linkage groups assisted by the Hi‐C technique. In total, 16,333 protein‐coding genes were predicted, of which 88.13% were functionally annotated. Among sap‐sucking insects, polyphagous species (e.g., T. palmi and Bemisia tabaci) usually possess more detoxification genes than oligophagous species (e.g., Diaphorina citri). The polyphagous thrips genomes characterized so far have relatively more detoxification genes in the GST and CCE families than polyphagous aphids, but they have fewer UGTs. HSP genes, especially from the Hsp70s group, have expanded in thrips compared to other hemipterans. These differences point to different genetic mechanisms associated with detoxification and stress responses in these two groups of sap‐sucking insects. The expansion of these gene families may contribute to the rapid development of pesticide resistance in thrips, as supported by a transcriptome comparison of resistant and sensitive populations of T. palmi. The high‐quality genome developed here provides an invaluable resource for understanding the ecology, genetics, and evolution of thrips as well as their relatives more generally.

qPCR was performed to verify LINC00301 expression in NSCLC clinical specimens or cell lines. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) was conducted to identify the localization of LINC00301 in NSCLC cells. Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) was subjected to validate the binding activity between FOXC1 and LINC00301 promoters. RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) was performed to explore the binding activity between LINC00301 and EZH2. RNA pull-down followed by dot-blot, protein domain mapping, and RNA electrophoresis mobility shift assay (EMSA) were conducted to identify the detailed binding regions between LINC00301 and EZH2. Alpha assay was conducted to quantitatively assess the interaction between LINC00301 and EZH2.
LINC00301 is highly expressed in NSCLC and closely corelated to its prognosis by analyzing the relationship between differentially expressed lncRNAs and prognosis in NSCLC samples. in vitro and in vivo experiments revealed that LINC00301 facilitates cell proliferation, releases NSCLC cell cycle arrest, promotes cell migration and invasion, and suppresses cell apoptosis in NSCLC. T cell population in LA-4/SLN-205-derived tumors through targeting TGF-β. The transcription factor FOXC1 mediates LINC00301 expression in NSCLC. Bioinformatics prediction and in vitro experiments indicated that LINC00301 (83-123 nucleotide nt) can directly bind to the enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) (612-727 amino acid aa) to promote H3K27me3 at the ELL protein-associated factor 2 (EAF2) promoter. EAF2 directly binds and stabilizes von Hippel-Lindau protein (pVHL), so downregulated EAF2 augments hypoxia-inducible factor 1 α (HIF1α) expression by regulating pVHL in NSCLC cells. Moreover, we also found that LINC00301 could function as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) against miR-1276 to expedite HIF1α expression in the cytoplasm of NSCLC cells.
In summary, our present research revealed the oncogenic roles of LINC00301 in clinical specimens as well as cellular and animal experiments, illustrating the potential roles and mechanisms of the FOXC1/LINC00301/EZH2/EAF2/pVHL/HIF1α and FOXC1/LINC00301/miR-1276/HIF1α pathways, which provides novel insights and potential theraputic targets to NSCLC.

The group Σ(36×3) with the generalized CP transformation is introduced to predict the mixing pattern of leptons. Various combinations of Abelian residual flavor symmetries with CP transformations are ...surveyed. Six mixing patterns could accommodate the fit data of neutrinos oscillation at the 3σ level. Among them, two patterns predict the nontrivial Dirac CP phase, around ±57° or ±123°, which is in accordance with the result of the literature and the recent fit data. Furthermore, one pattern could satisfy the experimental constraints at the 1σ level.

A high-strength bolt connection is the key component of large-scale steel structures. Bolt loosening and preload loss during operation can reduce the load-carrying capacity, safety, and durability of ...the structures. In order to detect loosening damage in multi-bolt connections of large-scale civil engineering structures, we proposed a multi-bolt loosening identification method based on time-frequency diagrams and a convolutional neural network (CNN) using vi-bro-acoustic modulation (VAM) signals. Continuous wavelet transform was employed to obtain the time-frequency diagrams of VAM signals as the features. Afterward, the CNN model was trained to identify the multi-bolt loosening conditions from the raw time-frequency diagrams intelligently. It helps to get rid of the dependence on traditional manual selection of simplex and ineffective damage index and to eliminate the influence of operational noise of structures on the identification accuracy. A laboratory test was carried out on bolted connection specimens with four high-strength bolts of different degrees of loosening. The effects of different excitations, CNN models, and dataset sizes were investigated. We found that the ResNet-50 CNN model taking time-frequency diagrams of the hammer excited VAM signals, as the input had better performance in identifying the loosened bolts with various degrees of loosening at different positions. The results indicate that the proposed multi-bolt loosening identification method based on VAM and ResNet-50 CNN can identify bolt loosening with a reasonable accuracy, computational efficiency, and robustness.

Strand asymmetry in nucleotide composition is a remarkable feature of animal mitochondrial genomes. Understanding the mutation processes that shape strand asymmetry is essential for comprehensive ...knowledge of genome evolution, demographical population history and accurate phylogenetic inference. Previous studies found that the relative contributions of different substitution types to strand asymmetry are associated with replication alone or both replication and transcription. However, the relative contributions of replication and transcription to strand asymmetry remain unclear. Here we conducted a broad survey of strand asymmetry across 120 insect mitochondrial genomes, with special reference to the correlation between the signs of skew values and replication orientation/gene direction. The results show that the sign of GC skew on entire mitochondrial genomes is reversed in all species of three distantly related families of insects, Philopteridae (Phthiraptera), Aleyrodidae (Hemiptera) and Braconidae (Hymenoptera); the replication-related elements in the A+T-rich regions of these species are inverted, confirming that reversal of strand asymmetry (GC skew) was caused by inversion of replication origin; and finally, the sign of GC skew value is associated with replication orientation but not with gene direction, while that of AT skew value varies with gene direction, replication and codon positions used in analyses. These findings show that deaminations during replication and other mutations contribute more than selection on amino acid sequences to strand compositions of G and C, and that the replication process has a stronger affect on A and T content than does transcription. Our results may contribute to genome-wide studies of replication and transcription mechanisms.
