Cities in a developing country play a role as a growth-pole, with high economic activity. This role, acts as a great magnet for low income rural people - who still live in a cosmocentric ontology - ...to migrate to the cities. This condition becomes a real challenge to urban designers in a developing country. The rural migrants accumulate as the majority of inhabitants and if they are not considered carefully there will be many problems to the city’s life, include the emergence of slums and shanties. Semarang is the municipal of Mid-Java province in Indonesia, a developing country. A significant case among many others, Semarang can be found at the Djohar traditional market at the center of the city. The traditional market was designed by famous Dutch olden-times architect, Herman Thomas Karsten. The market was designed for ordinary lowclass people complementary to the Bojong shopping street, which was designed for the Elite Dutch class. Indonesia proclaimed its independence on August 17th 1945. About the year 2000, some investors tried to change Djohar and its surrounds into an elite shopping area. This effort failed. The low-class people still exist in this area. This tells us about a different urban planning and design solution for different communities living in a city. A specific treatment in urban planning and design in a developing country that fits the worldview of the people living in it is required: Postmodern urban planning and design, with local wisdom as the ontological foundation.
Biowall is one of the several innovative strategies people use to build a comfortable interior atmosphere with living plants. This research attempts to trace the gaps in the previous analysis as a ...'state of the art' with a literature review method by focusing on the biowall method, area ratio and types of plants. Biowall performance is mainly related to the influence of thermal, visual, audial, and respiratory comfort. It is an essential topic used to induce atmospheric interiors, such as temperature, humidity, light intensity, sound insulation and absorption, CO2, HCHO, VOC, and particulate levels. The results showed that the empirical methods used were actual scale-up and down experiments, laboratories in test chambers, simulation with specific software, and case research on in-situ biowall. The comparison between the biowall and room size varied significantly due to the absence of a legal basis and reasons. Ferns and succulents were the most widely used species to induce atmospheric comfort. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further research on biowall physical comfort based on multisensory simultaneously and determine its standard dimension and digital integration. Subsequent researchers must further discuss home-scale biowall acceleration and utilization of food-medicinal plants.
All aspects of life cannot escape the development of the times with the last phenomenon being the influence of the development of the digital world which is called the process of "digitalization". ...Architecture as one aspect of life certainly does not escape undergoing this digitilization process. Aim this paper discusses the process of digitalizing architecture using a philosophical point of view. The research was conducted using Desk research, from data and existing literature. The data is then filtered according to its interrelationships, validity and adjusted to its needs. Then a predictive analysis was carried out to get a (hypothetical) conception of digital architecture digital architecture in IKN Nusantara. The results of this discussion are understanding of the application of the digital ontological paradigm into the architectural process carried out at IKN Nusantara as a study case and in the context of the creative economy, which is the future of the Indonesian Economy, is very appropriate to develop a Neo-vernacular Digital Architecture in Indonesia which is hereinafter referred to as Neo-Nusantara Architecture.
Architectural digitization has been carried out substantially, at the design stage and also at the implementation. Not only related to the design of the building’s facade but also to the interior of ...the building. The goal indeed is to simplify and accelerate the architect’s work. In fact, the current digitalization drawings, specifically in the realm of interior fabrication, require several additional steps becomes a product. This research uses literature study method with descriptive evaluative analysis to describe as broadly as possible issues related to the effectiveness of digitalization drawings in interior fabrication in philosophical studies based on ontology, epistemology and axiology. The study was carried out using empirical and theoretical phenomena as well as examining the ideas behind the effectiveness of digitizing drawing (in interior fabrication) to its application. The final result shows that the research concept on the effectiveness of digitizing drawings in interior fabrication is empirical, rationalist, and measurable research as a logical science and is a part of science.
