In high-speed relay-protection applications, decisions are made based on signal processing over a short observation window. Classical adaptive signal models, which are prone to increasing their order ...so as to increase their resolution, do not cope with the task of recognition in a short window. The article proposes a new approach to constructing a signal model based on the use of an adaptive filter with a distributed structure. The proposed model is perfected by means of excluding canonical filters of controlled components from the competitive environment that arises in the classical adaptive filter. The filter-tuning scheme with a distributed structure is a multichannel system, in each channel of which a canonical filter is tuned to block of its component; the more accurately each individual canonical filter is tuned, the better the conditions are that are created for tuning the remaining canonical filters and the residual signal filter. The results of the computational experiment confirm the high performance of an adaptive filter with a distributed structure in terms of accuracy and speed when recognizing input signals of relay protection.

Here we critically summarized the interesting bioinspired phenomenon such as hydrophobic, hydrophilic and omniphobic properties that are useful in microfluidic technologies for futuristic applications. A quantitative measure of magnetic frustration is defined as a thermodynamically averaged relative number of excited pair interactions in the Hamiltonian of a system. The Metropolis algorithm has ...been upgraded to a hybrid multispin Monte Carlo method using a quasi-Markov chain of random events. The combination of canonical and multicanonical sampling of the Gibbs distribution in one computational scheme has made it possible to determine the temperature dependences of the increment in the number of excitations and the entropy increment of the hexagonal lattice of artificial spin ice and to calculate the configuration of the ground state. The temperature behavior of the frustration parameter of a geometrically frustrated hexagonal lattice of point dipoles is obtained numerically using the developed method. This method for calculating the quantitative measure of frustrations can be used to process experimental data.

The theoretical basis of X-ray absorption spectra beyond the Fe
K
-edge in the pre-edge region is constructed, and algorithms for using it to quantitatively analyze experimental X-ray near edge ...spectroscopy (XANES) spectra are described. Within the framework of the ab initio approach of ligand field theory, 60 theoretical spectra or more for Fe with different coordination numbers, oxidation state, and interatomic distances between the central atom and the nearest O atoms are calculated. Various machine learning (ML) methods for solving problems of determining the oxidation state of Fe and coordination number by means of the obtained spectra are used. The quality of the models are estimated using the Leave-One-Out method, the determination accuracy for the oxidation state is 100%; the determination accuracy for the coordination number is 75% in the case of predictions using the entire dataset and 96 and 68% for datasets with fixed oxidation state of Fe +2 and +3, respectively.

The SPASCHARM experiment is aimed at a systematic study of the nucleon spin structure and the spin dependence of the strong interaction of antimatter and matter with matter at energies up to 45 GeV. ...As part of the first stage of the experiment, the study of the spin properties of hadrons will take place in a beam of negatively charged hadrons on existing beamline 14 at the operating SPASCHARM setup at the U70 facility. At the second stage, the production of polarized beams of protons and antiprotons is envisaged in beamline 24A of the U-70 accelerator facility. A polarized antiproton beam will certainly become a unique beam in the world. It is planned to measure single-spin asymmetries in dozens of reactions, both on hydrogen and on various nuclei. At the SPASCHARM facility, it is also possible to measure the transverse polarization of hyperons and elements of the spin density matrix of vector mesons. The spin structure of the nucleon will be investigated in the study of quarkonium production to determine the contribution of gluons to the proton spin. The efficiency of reducing switching overvoltages during reclosing of long high-voltage transmission lines is achieved by intelligent automatic reclosing due to precise control of a circuit-breaker ...switching instant. The required accuracy of the intelligent automatic reclosing is provided by adaptive control algorithms that take a number of technologically important features of the circuit breaker closing process into account. First, as a rule, the moment of closing the electrical circuit does not coincide with the moment of closing the contacts of the switch due to electrical breakdown of the intercontact gap when the contacts approach each other. Second, the moment of closing the contacts itself deviates from the calculated one due to the spread in the time of the circuit breaker drive action. Third, the operating time of the circuit breaker contact system changes under the influence of environmental conditions and during operation. This paper presents the basics of taking into account these features of the electromechanical characteristics of high-voltage circuit breakers in precision control algorithms. It is shown that the effectiveness of intelligent automatic reclosing is ensured by adaptive-control algorithms that take into account the effect of ambient temperature, drive energy stored, supply voltage of control circuits, breaker idle time, operational wear of the circuit breaker, and the dynamics of changes in the electric strength of the intercontact gap during the cycle of switching.

The Cu(II)–Gly–His–Lys (Glycyl–Histidyl–Lysine) complex is of interest as a model peptide to test the methodology for studying the structure of metal sites in proteins, in particular, the copper ...binding site in amyloid-β. X-ray absorption spectra of the Cu(II)GHK aqueous solution are measured. The stability of the complex under X-ray radiation is controlled by optical spectroscopy. The structural models with different copper site coordination constructed based on the crystallographic structure are considered. Two optimal models are selected from the analysis of the theoretical X-ray absorption spectra of the constructed structures. The structural parameters of the selected models are optimized. It is found that the spectrum of the five-coordinated model with water molecules in the equatorial and axial positions “down” (with Cu–O distances of 1.97 Å and 2.31 Å respectively) has the best agreement with the experiment.
