This paper presents a real-time seismic response analysis method based on the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and Proper Generalized Decomposition (PGD) theories. Initially, the damping matrix ...and ground motion load are incorporated using the parametric form of the solid dynamic equation. By leveraging the POD method, the computational challenge arising from the high number of parameters in the equation (one parameter for each degree of freedom of the entire model) is overcome, enabling the calculation of complex computational models. Subsequently, the proposed method's effectiveness, stability, and accuracy are demonstrated through the analysis of various seismic waves characterized by different magnitudes, durations, and frequencies. Furthermore, the method successfully achieves real-time response feedback of the structure to arbitrary seismic waves. Importantly, this approach exhibits significant potential for engineering applications.

Cases of Wallerian degeneration of bilateral cerebral peduncles after acute carbon monoxide poisoning have not yet been reported. To date, most of the delayed encephalopathy after acute carbon ...monoxide poisoning (DEACMP) lesions captured in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been located in the subcortical white matter and basal ganglia. Here we report two cases of DEACMP with abnormalities in the bilateral cerebral peduncles. The etiology of abnormalities, which were strictly confined to the bilateral cerebral peduncles, was Wallerian degeneration secondary to upstream nerve axonal damage, making this the first report on such bilateral cerebral peduncle abnormalities after DEACMP.
In this report, we present two cases of DEACMP with abnormal signals in the bilateral cerebral peduncles captured during brain MRIs. Case 1 was of a 68-year-old man who presented with paroxysmal disturbance of the consciousness, left limb weakness for 16 days, and lagging responses for 2 days. Case 2 was of a 55-year-old man who was unconscious for 6 h. In addition to the above mentioned characteristics on the brain MRIs, the electroencephalography of case 1 indicated that his forehead scans had a mixture of wide sharp, sharp, and three-phase waves. Brain diffusion tensor imaging of case 2 further proved that the bilateral cerebral anomalies represented Wallerian degeneration secondary to upstream axonal damage. After the definitive diagnosis, the patients returned to the local hospital for hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Wallerian degeneration of the bilateral cerebral peduncles after acute carbon monoxide poisoning has never been reported before. The abnormal signals in the bilateral cerebral peduncles captured during brain MRIs indicated Wallerian degeneration secondary to upstream axonal damage; thus, these two cases may further our understanding of DEACMP imaging.

The COVID-19 pandemic spreads rapidly around the world, and has given rise to huge impacts on all aspects of human society. This study utilizes big data techniques to analyze the impacts of COVID-19 on the user behaviors and environmental benefits of bike sharing. In this study, a novel method is proposed to calculate the trip distances and trajectories via a python package OSMnx so as to accurately estimate the environmental benefits of bike sharing. In addition, we employ the topological indices arising from complex network theory to quantitatively analyze the transformation of user behavior pattern of bike sharing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results show that this pandemic has impacted the user behaviors and environmental benefits of bike sharing in Beijing significantly. During the pandemic, the estimated reductions of energy consumption and emissions on 6th Feb decreased to approximately 1 in 17 of those on a normal day, and the environmental benefits at most recovered to 70% of those in normal days. The impacts of COVID-19 on the environmental benefits in different districts are different. Furthermore, the decline of average strength and strength distribution obeying exponential distribution but with different slope rates suggests that people are less likely to take bike sharing to the places where were popular before. The pandemic has also increased the average trip time of bike sharing. Our research may facilitate the understanding of the impacts of COVID-19 pandemic on our society and environment, and also provide clues to adapt to this unprecedented pandemic so as to respond to similar events in the future.

Background & Aims
Liver transplantation (LTx) is one of the most effective treatments for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC); however, tumour recurrence after LTx often leads to poor outcomes. This study ...investigated the value of circulating tumour cells (CTCs) as a predictor of recurrence following LTx in patients with HCC.
Methods
This analysis included 193 patients with HCC who underwent LTx at our institute and accepted pre‐ and post‐operative CTC detection; 38 were selected for serial CTC monitoring. The predictive value of CTCs for tumour recurrence in patients with HCC following LTx was evaluated. Single‐cell whole genome sequencing was used to characterize CTCs.
Results
Overall, the CTC burden decreased after LTx (P < .05). Post‐operative CTC count ≥ 1 per 5 mL peripheral blood was identified as a potential biomarker for predicting tumour recurrence after LTx, especially in patients with no detectable CTCs prior to LTx and negative tumour serological biomarkers. The predictive value of post‐operative CTC count ≥ 1 per 5 mL blood was retained in patients who did not meet the Milan criteria, University of California San Francisco (UCSF) criteria, or Fudan criteria (all P < .05). Furthermore, post‐operative serial CTC detection may be useful in post‐surgical surveillance for HCC recurrence.
Conclusions
CTCs may be a useful biomarker to evaluate recurrence risk following LTx in patients with HCC. Evaluation based on CTC detection may enhance the post‐transplant management of HCC, and improve the therapeutic efficacy of LTx.

Developing new methods to improve the photocatalytic activity of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C₃N₄) for hydrogen (H₂) evolution has attracted intensive research interests. Here, we report that the ...g-C₃N₄ exhibits photocatalytic activity for H₂ evolution from pure water. And, the activity is dramatically improved by loading highly dispersed conductive polymer nanoparticles. The H₂ evolution rate increases up to 50 times for g-C₃N₄ with 1.5 wt% polypyrrole (PPy) nanoparticles on the surface. The reaction proceeding in a pure water system excludes the need for sacrificial agents. The role of the highly conductive PPy in enhancing H₂ evolution is as a surface junction to increase the number of photoinduced electrons, and to facilitate electron transfer to the interface.
One of the most critical steps in cereal threshing is the ease with which seeds are detached from sticky glumes. Naked grains with low glume coverage have dramatically increased threshing efficiency ...and seed quality. Here, we demonstrate that GC1 (Glume Coverage 1), encoding an atypical G protein γ subunit, negatively regulates sorghum glume coverage. Naturally truncated variations of GC1 C-terminus accumulate at higher protein levels and affect the stability of a patatin-related phospholipase SbpPLAII-1. A strong positive selection signature around the GC1 genic region is found in the naked sorghum cultivars. Our findings reveal a crucial event during sorghum domestication through a subtle regulation of glume development by GC1 C-terminus variation, and establish a strategy for future breeding of naked grains.
Patients with stroke are likely to experience impaired health-related quality of life (QOL), especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to evaluate the QOL of Chinese patients with ...stroke during the pandemic and explore the associated variables. A matched-pair, multicenter survey was conducted before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Questionnaires including the 36-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), the Activities of Daily Living (ADL) scale, and the Questionnaire about the Process of Recovery (QPR) were used. A total of 172 matched pairs (344 patients) were recruited in this study. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was performed to analyze variables associated with QOL. Physical and mental component scores (PCS and MCS) were higher among the stroke patients during the pandemic (44.20 ± 18.92 and 54.24 ± 19.08) than before the pandemic (37.98 ± 14.52 and 43.50 ± 20.94). Pandemic stress, demographic and clinical characteristics were negative variables associated with PCS and MCS. QPR was positively associated with PCS and MCS. The QOL of Chinese stroke patients was higher during than before the COVID-19 pandemic. Pandemic stress aggravated stroke patients' QOL, while personal recovery could alleviate the detrimental effect of pandemic stress on QOL for stroke patients.

With the rapid development of nuclear industry in China, an increasing number of nuclear power plants (NPPs) are unavoidable to be constructed upon non-lithological foundations. Therefore, it is ...essential to optimize the current evaluation methods for non-lithological foundation reinforcement plans. By using the Octree discretization method combining with the scaled boundary polyhedron finite element method (SBFEM), a refined calculation model of a Generation III+ NPP is constructed. Due to the highly nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the system involved, this paper adopts a generalized plasticity model for the soil, a plastic damage model for the piles, and a nonlinear overburden layer-based seismic input method. Subsequently, large scale plastic damage analysis in detail to the NPPs under beyond-design basis earthquake inputs is performed. The results show that the pile foundation damage characteristics and distribution acquired from simulations agree well with the data from actual earthquake disasters. The most severe damage to the pile foundation occurred at the interface between the end of the pile and the base mat. The inclusion of plastic damage showed that the floor response spectra of the nuclear island experiences significant changes in three dimensions. Therefore, the effect of pile damage to the dynamic response of the power plants should be considered for strong earthquake excitation. The computational and analysis methods proposed in this paper can effectively reflect the dynamic nonlinear response of the nuclear power plants pile foundation-soil interaction.
