In Thailand, two species of Plicanthus R.M.Schust. are confirmed: P. birmensis (Steph.) R.M.Schust., P. hirtellus (F.Weber) R.M.Schust. A description and illustrations of each species as well as ...ecology and geographical distribution are provided. The morphological variation of each species and the differences between the two species are discussed.
An updated account of the genus Calypogeia Raddi in Thailand is presented. Three species, including C. arguta Nees & Mont., C. goebelii (Schiffn.) Steph., C. lunata Mitt., are currently reported ...from Thailand. Calypogeia goebelii var. siamensis N.Kitag. is reduced to a synonym of C. goebelii. A key to the species of the genus as well as the descriptions, illustrations, ecological information, and geographical distribution of each species are provided.
A working checklist of accepted taxa worldwide is vital in achieving the goal of developing an online flora of all known plants by 2020 as part of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation. We here ...present the first-ever worldwide checklist for liverworts (Marchantiophyta) and hornworts (Anthocerotophyta) that includes 7486 species in 398 genera representing 92 families from the two phyla. The checklist has far reaching implications and applications, including providing a valuable tool for taxonomists and systematists, analyzing phytogeographic and diversity patterns, aiding in the assessment of floristic and taxonomic knowledge, and identifying geographical gaps in our understanding of the global liverwort and hornwort flora. The checklist is derived from a working data set centralizing nomenclature, taxonomy and geography on a global scale. Prior to this effort a lack of centralization has been a major impediment for the study and analysis of species richness, conservation and systematic research at both regional and global scales. The success of this checklist, initiated in 2008, has been underpinned by its community approach involving taxonomic specialists working towards a consensus on taxonomy, nomenclature and distribution.

Bryoerythrophyllum inaequalifolium (Taylor) R.H.Zander (Pottiaceae) is reported here as a new genus and species record for Thailand, where it occurs on a degraded calcareous substrate in sub-alpine ...forest at the summit of Doi Chiang Dao Mt., Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary, Northern Thailand. A description, line drawings, photographs, and SEM micrographs are also provided.
A recent investigation into the four species of Hypnum Hedw. s. l. hitherto reported for Thailand confirms only two species that are consequently placed in Calohypnum Sakurai: Hypnum darjeelingense ...Ando =C. sikkimense (Renauld & Cardot) Jan Kučera & Ignatov and H. plumiforme Wilson =C. plumiforme (Wilson) Jan Kučera & Ignatov. The previous records of H. sakuraii (Sakurai) Ando and H. submolluscum Besch. in Thailand were based on misidentifications. The genus Hypnum is excluded from Thailand and Calohypnum is recognized. Based on the latest collections we made, five mosses: Claopodium aciculum (Broth.) Broth., Dicranoloma reflexum (Müll.Hal.) Renauld, Entodon scariosus Renauld & Cardot, Taxiphyllum giraldii (Müll.Hal.) M.Fleisch., and Vesicularia flaccida (Sull. & Lesq.) Z.Iwats. are reported new to Thai moss flora. The descriptions, illustrations, and key to species of Calohypnum in Thailand as well as diagnostic characters of the new moss records are provided.
An additional variant of Jubula hutchinsiae (Hook.) Dumort. subsp. javanica (Steph.) Verd. is reported for Thailand based on a 2009 collection from the Nakhon Sri Thammarat province. A detailed ...description and illustrations are here provided.
The liverwort Mastigolejeunea gradsteinii Sukkharak sp. nov. (Lejeuneaceae) is described from Malaysia. The new species is characterised by (1) rigid stem with epidermal cells as large as medullary ...cells, (2) apiculate leaf apex, (3) curved lobules without teeth, and (4) perianths with 7-8 keels.

The historical development of bryophyte studies in Thailand is reviewed. Two historical periods are distinguished: the first period, 1899–1977, during which collections were made and studies were ...carried out by foreign botanists/bryologists in the framework of expeditions and the Flora of Thailand project; and the second one, 1977 to the present day, in which bryophyte work has been done mainly by Thai bryologists. In total, two species of hornworts, 20 of liverworts, and 63 of mosses have been described as new to science based on collections from Thailand. Of these, 48 are hitherto only known from Thailand and may be considered endemic to the country. Future work should focus more on taxonomic treatments of individual genera although further area-based research is also necessary.
Jubula hutchinsiae (Hook.) Dumort. subsp. javanica (Steph.) Verd. collected from the Khao Soi Dao wildlife sanctuary, Chanthaburi province, is a new genus and species record for Thailand. A brief ...description based on Thai material is provided, with illustrations.
