Sustainability usually refers to the ability to maintain a certain standard of human lifestyle without causing environmental damage or any other destruction to nature and biodiversity. It is ...beneficial for human health and well-being in addition to socio-economic benefits and contributes to environmental integrity. However, as Robert Swan (1956) once stated: “the greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it”—this is true even today; namely, there are still serious threats to the planet and there is “a short time period” for action. We all have to be obliged to save the planet in which we live throughout our daily and local activities. In this study, the authors provide an overview of the meaning of sustainable tourism and its relationship to all global Sustainable Development Goals established by UN (2015) as one way to achieve a brighter sustainable future and society for everyone, leaving no one behind. More specifically, the case of Kosovo and its potential for the development of sustainable tourism is analyzed. In this case, the authors aim to present the potential to serve the local tradition, culture, diversity, and inclusiveness through sustainable actions in the tourism and hospitality sector.

This study aimed to assess the interconnection between professional training and employee performance in hotel organizations. Considering that the professional training in our country is not at ...appropriate levels and in some companies they are not even present and knowing the importance and impact that training has on work performance, such a study should be carried out first. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to show the interconnection between professional training and employee performance among the employees of the Dukagjini hotel in Peja and the Grand hotel in Pristina. 100 employees of the Dukagjini hotel and the Grand hotel from the municipalities of Pristina and Peja participated in this study. Quantitative methods were used in the methodology of this study. In this study, two instruments were used, the one that measures the receipt of professional training and the instrument that measures performance at work, both of these instruments give us quantitative data. The sample of the selection of participants was random, where the data of this paper were collected through direct interviewing by means of a structured (printed) questionnaire. These data were analyzed and interpreted through the SPSS program. The findings of this study shows that an employee's job performance depends on several factors such as motivation, dedication, and commitment, but several types of research have brought back the fact that training and development play the most important role in improving employee performance in hotel organizations. From this study we can conclude that out of 100 respondents, 60 of them declared that they received professional training and the other 40 did not receive professional training. Finally, the findings of the study and the practical significance of the findings to employees in the hotel organizations are discussed.
The purpose of this article is to provide a theoretical explanation for the continuous development of the tourism industry, following this with a comparison of the tourism development between the two ...Balkan states, namely Kosovo and Macedonia, this research is important to convey the development trends of tourism in different countries, also the countries and tourist destinations. In this study, a comparative method was used to distinguish Tourism Development Statistics in Kosovo and Macedonia. The data are provided by the state statistical office, Eurostat (online). The practical part of this study shows the total number of tourists in Kosovo and Macedonia for the period 2010-2018. Kosovo and Macedonia are two states of the Balkan Peninsula that have developed the tourism industry, due to the fact that their natural wealth, national, cultural, social values and so on. They are attractive factors for tourists in general, both domestic and foreign. Numbers of tourist in Kosovo in the period 2010 was 79,045 and in 2018 was 228,254, whereas numbers of tourist in Macedonia in the period 2010 was 586, 241 and in 2018 was 1,126,935. The development of rural tourism in these countries enables the development of livestock. There is a higher number of cattle and dairy cows in Kosovo than in Macedonia. Whereas in Macedonia there are more pigs, especially sheep and goats. Mountainous natural resources have made the forest area a considerable part of the surface in the Kosovo and Macedonia. Comparing 2012 and 2017 we can notice that there is not much difference in figures, there has been a significant increase in mountainous area. From the findings of this study, we can say that Kosovo and Macedonia, as explained in the empirical analysis section, have sufficient potential to develop rural and mountain tourism.
The term Inflation means a process of continuous increase in the prices of goods and services and a decrease in the purchasing power of people. The indicator that serves to measure inflation is the ...Consumer Price Index (CPI), that is, the consumer basket that includes the costs that people make to buy the most important products that are necessary for the family, monitored over time. The costs for this basket at a given time expressed relative to the base period represent the consumer price index (CPI). The percentage change in the CPI over the specified period relative to the base period is consumer price inflation.Inflation inevitably affects the operation of all activities and branches. Therefore, tourism and hospitality industry are no exception.Inflation affects the reduction of the purchasing power of the population, so in the conditions of inflation, people try to reduce the expenses in the family by completely giving up or reducing the purchase of products and services that are not necessary for them. All of this on the one hand, and on the other hand the increase in prices in accommodation and catering facilities, additionally influences people to reduce the number of tourist trips, to choose closer and cheaper destinations for tourist trips or to completely give up on tourist trips. In order to determine whether inflation in Kosovo affects the change in the tourist travel habits of the population, an online survey was conducted that included 200 residents of Kosovo. The data from the survey was processed with the SPSS system using the methods of linear regression and correlation, with inflation and the prices of hotel services as independent variables, and travel within the country and the use of hotel services in Kosovo as dependent variables.Applying the Chi-square test shows the existence of a significant difference between domestic tourism trips in Kosovo in 2015 and 2022 (Chi square value of 4.927; degree of freedom 1; two-sided asymptotic significance is 0.026), as well as the existence of a significant difference between the use of hotel services by the domicile population in Kosovo in 2015 and 2022 (the obtained Chi square value of 44,444;degree of freedom 1; the two-sided asymptotic significance is 0). The research also showed that inflation inevitably leads to an increase in the prices of hotel services (correlation coefficient 0.959; coefficient of determination 0.920, B = 0.617, p = 0), and an increase in the prices of hotel services leads to a decrease in the use of hotel services. by the domicile population (correlation coefficient - 0.807, coefficient of determination 0.651, B = - 0.568, p = 0).Inflation also affects the decrease in the number of domestic tourist trips (correlation coefficient - 0.859, coefficient of determination 0.738, B = - 0.389, p = 0). Based on that, it can be concluded that the negative impact of inflation on both domestic tourist trips and the use of hotel services by the resident population is huge.
Evaluating employee performance is one of the most important activities in human resource management in all enterprises. Under the term performance evaluation is meant a continuous process of ...monitoring, valuing and directing the behavior of the employees and their achieved results in the work. The evaluation of the employees' performance is carried out in order to determine their contribution to the achievement of the organizational goals in a certain period of time, and is based on a system of appropriate criteria and assessment methods that can be both objective and subjective. In order to determine whether the hotels in Kosovo has a system for evaluating the performance of employees and whether employee performance evaluation affects the salary of employees, rewards, advancement in the organization, motivation, as well as on the successful operation of the enterprise and its financial result, it was carried out research in 100 hotels on the territory of Kosovo. The research was conducted with an online survey in which 100 general managers in hotels in Kosovo were surveyed, so that one answer given by one general manager refers to one hotel. The research data were processed with the computer system SPSS version 23.0, using the linear regression method. Based on the conducted research, it was determined that there is a very strong and directly proportional relationship between evaluating employee performance as an independent variable on the one hand and separate variables as dependent variables on the other hand: salary (R = 0.836; R2 = 0.699; p = 0; B = 1,490); rewards (R = 0.943; R2 = 0.890; p = 0; B = 0.989); advancement within the organization (R = 0.938; R2 = 0.879; p = 0; B = 0.889); employee motivation (R = 0.869; R2 = 0.756; p = 0; B = 1.512); and the success of hotel operations and their financial result (R = 0.941; R2 = 0.884; p = 0; B = 1.444). Accordingly, in order to be able to successfully and timely achieve the goals of the work in an organization, to achieve good performance, to motivate employees and to reward them properly and advance in the system of the organization itself there must be an evaluation of the performance of employees, which is one of the basic tasks of human resources management.
The main objective of the study was to investigate the impact of motivation on employee performance in the hospitality enterprises in Kosovo. For that purpose, the paper uses primary data obtained ...through a survey of 130 employees in several hospitality enterprises in Kosovo. The survey questionnaire consisted of 4 close-ended questions. The data were analysed using regression model statistical tools. First, cross-tabular analyses were performed where each motivation tool was crossed with the employee performance and the coefficient of determination and the correlation coefficient were calculated in order to determine the individual impact of each motivation tool on employee performance This research argues that each motivation tool affects the increase of employee performance in the hospitality industry in Kosovo. The strongest motivational tool for employees in the hospitality enterprises in Kosovo is the salary, followed by the opportunities for advancement and working conditions. Then, multiple linear regression was calculated in order to determine the overall cumulative impact of all motivation tools (motivational package) on employee performance. This research argues that there is a very strong direct relationship between the whole motivational package and employee performance in the hospitality industry in Kosovo.
Tourism has now become an integral part of humanity's life, which is directly affecting the economic, social, cultural development of the world and individually of each country. Tourism has now ...become a very important economic and attractive field for mankind, which is characterized by massive tourist trips, involving different layers and social groups, for the purposes of scientific research, vacations and recreation, as well as the enrichment of knowledge with their natural beauty, historical, cultural monuments, habits, mentalities, languages, and so on in different countries and people of the world. The development of the tourism and hotel industry enables individuals to have access to tourist destinations, where they are offered accommodation opportunities in those countries by using their respective hotel capacities. Thus, the purpose of this article is to present an overview or a framework related to the tourism and hotel industry, respectively definitions, concepts and developments of this field are given. To illustrate the meaning of this issue the case of Kosovo has been studied.
Despite significant global investments in mobile government projects, the adoption of these services has been unsatisfactory, with low user acceptance levels reported by governments. Given the ...crucial role of user acceptance in the success of m-government, researchers specializing in this field should investigate the factors that influence users' willingness to use these services. This study aims to address this issue in the Republic of Kosovo context. In the study, the reasons for using the Mobile Document Management System (mDMS) were also investigated. The research gathers information from government officials in the Republic of Kosovo through structured questionnaires, and empirically tests the factors that influence the intention to use Mobile Government (m-Government)systems in Kosovo, by amalgamating two models: TAM& DOI, with the incorporation of two new constructs, namely Trustworthiness, and Image. The results have revealed that Perceived Usefulness and Observability were the sole factors that might influence the willingness of the Kosovars to use m-Government andthe mDMS.
