In this paper, we propose a novel auxiliary loss function for target-speaker automatic speech recognition (ASR). Our method automatically extracts and transcribes target speaker's utterances from a ...monaural mixture of multiple speakers speech given a short sample of the target speaker. The proposed auxiliary loss function attempts to additionally maximize interference speaker ASR accuracy during training. This will regularize the network to achieve a better representation for speaker separation, thus achieving better accuracy on the target-speaker ASR. We evaluated our proposed method using two-speaker-mixed speech in various signal-to-interference-ratio conditions. We first built a strong target-speaker ASR baseline based on the state-of-the-art lattice-free maximum mutual information. This baseline achieved a word error rate (WER) of 18.06% on the test set while a normal ASR trained with clean data produced a completely corrupted result (WER of 84.71%). Then, our proposed loss further reduced the WER by 6.6% relative to this strong baseline, achieving a WER of 16.87%. In addition to the accuracy improvement, we also showed that the auxiliary output branch for the proposed loss can even be used for a secondary ASR for interference speakers' speech.
Many people routinely have a routine in which they exercise once a week. They should be performed along with the purpose of the training. Stability training is often carried out for enhancement of ...performance in the field of sports. An appropriate load is important for athletic rehabilitation. Rehabilitation without gradual advancement characteristics can lead to various repercussions such as prolongation of period of return to play and recurrence injuries. It is therefore advisable to objectively assess the load exerted by each training method. However, the degree of alteration of muscle activity on change of the height and instability of feet on performing side bridges was unclear. Seventeen healthy male participants performed four kinds of side bridges (on the stable floor, stable 30cm stand, unstable floor, unstable 30cm stand). Muscle activity was measured and inspected at the time of the enforcement. Activity of the gluteus medius, external oblique muscle, internal oblique muscle and the multifidus lumborum muscle were measured with the help of a surface electromyogram. The gluteus medius significantly showed low activity on the stable 30cm stand in com-parison with the other conditions. The external oblique muscle, internal oblique muscle, and the multifidus lumborum muscle significantly showed significantly high activity underon the unstable condition. It was thought that by raising the feet on the platform, the activity of the gluteus medius muscle decreased. Besides, it was suggested that the activity of the trunk muscles mayight be markedly required highly needed underon the unstable condition.
This paper proposes architecture for a novel automatic fiber line testing system with an optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) and describes the system requirements, the design method, and the ...system evaluation. The results of a trial on a manufactured system and an evaluation of its characteristics are presented with evidence that an in-service optical fiber can be tested with no degradation in communication quality and the desired measurement accuracy and system component characteristics can be realized. In addition, it is confirmed that a failure between an optical fiber cable and a digital service unit (DSU) can be identified with 100% accuracy.< >
Illegal gas oils, prepared by mixing fuel oils with sulfuric acid, were analyzed by spectrofluorophotometry and gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GCMS). The spectrofluorophotometric studies ...showed that both the excitation wavelength and emission wavelength at the maximum fluorescent peak of the illegal gas oils were blue-shifted to similar wavelengths to those of gas oils. The illegal gas oils could be discriminated by the contour plots of the three-dimensional fluorescent spectra and the peak shapes of the excitation and emission spectra. The GCMS analysis showed that aromatic compounds were removed from the fuel oil with increasing mixing time with H2SO4. The mixing treatment with H2SO4 could not effectively remove non-condensed polycyclic aromatic compounds such as alkyl benzene and biphenyl from the fuel oil in contrast to the condensed polycyclic aromatic compounds such as naphthalene and phenanthrene. As a result, the fuel oil was transformed to illegal gas oil containing abundant saturated hydrocarbons. Although fuel oil moderately mixed with 95% H2SO4 (1 : 1) for 3 min closely resembled the component of gas oil, the modified fuel oil could be discriminated from gas oil by the peak intensity ratios of the molecular ion of 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene to the ion of pentadecane. Accordingly, spectrofluorophotometry and GCMS analyses were very useful for the discrimination of illegal gas oils prepared by mixing fuel oils with H2SO4.
A human histiocytic lymphoma cell line, U–937 cells, secretes several vascular endothelial cell growth inhibitors including leukemia inhibitory factor, oncostatin M, tumor necrosis factor-α, and ...transforming growth factor-β1. Characterization of partially purified fractions from the conditioned media of phorbol ester-treated U–937 cells suggested the existence of unknown endothelial growth inhibitors. Using a combination of copper affinity, heparin affinity, cation exchange, and reversed phase liquid chromatographies, a growth inhibitor for endothelial cells was purified to homogeneity from conditioned media. The purified growth inhibitor migrated as a 65kDa band on SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis under both reducing and nonreducing conditions. Microsequencing analyses of the tryptic fragments of the growth inhibitor and a BLAST search analysis revealed a unique sequence showing no homology to known proteins. The purified protein inhibited endothelial cell growth in a dose-dependent manner, but had no effect on smooth muscle cell growth. The factor also blocked endothelial cell growth induced by both fib rob last growth factor–2 and vascular endothelial growth factor, and was additively effective in inhibiting the growth of endothelial cell by U–937 cell-derived endothelial cell growth inhibitors. Thus, this factor appears to be a novel inhibitor with specificity for vascular endothelial cells, and is tentatively called endothelial cell inhibitor (ECI) in this study.

In 31 cases of chronic myelogenous leukaemia (CML) we examined the prognostic significance of chromosomal loss of a 17p and p53 mutations at the onset of blast crisis (BC). p53 mutations were closely ...related to a shortened survival in CML-BC (P < 0.005 by the logrank test), whereas loss of a 17p by itself was not a poor prognostic indicator. The prognostic significance of loss of a 17p, however, emerged when combined with its predominance in the metaphases analysed. This predominance might easily and rapidly be screened by polymerase chain reaction-based analysis in about half of the cases.
