Based on the complementation of advantages and disadvantages of genetic algorithms (GA) and neural network (NN), a new hybrid genetic algorithms and neural network model (GANN) is presented in this ...paper. In this model, the relationship model is established by error back propagation network (BP), the connection weights and thresholds of BP are optimized by GA, and then the precision of model is increased by BP. It not only avoids the deficiency of BP and GA, but also gives full play to the global searching capacity of the GA and local searching capacity of BP network. Aiming at decreasing the high-expenditure and heavy-workload of loading test of bridges, the new hybrid GANN bearing capacity evaluation model of medium-small span old bridge was established. In this model, the bearing capacity was evaluated by 8 easily measured damage indexes, and the calibration coefficient of the bridge bearing capacity (η) was used as the evaluation output index directly. After an evaluation analysis of bearing capacity, the result indicates that the evaluation model is scientific, accurate, available and convenient.
To investigate the value of transcranial Doppler (TCD) ultrasonography in evaluating the outcome of severe traumatic brain injury and to correlate the TCD values with intracranial pressure (ICP) and ...cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) monitoring.
A prospective study was conducted to evaluate the contribution of TCD ultrasonography to neurological outcome in a series of 96 severe traumatic brain injury patients. The quantitative variables of TCD ultrasonography included the mean blood flow velocity of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) and pulsatility index within the first 24 hours of admission. The ICP and CPP values were a lso recorded. Outcome in 6 months postinjury was evaluated using the Glasgow Outcome Scale (GOS 4-5 was considered as "good" and GOS 1-3 as "poor").
The mean blood flow velocity of the MCA was larger than 40 cm/s in 30 (51%) patients with good outcome whereas it was less than 40 cm/s in 27 (73%) patients with poor outcome (P<0.025). The mean PI in cases of good outcome (34 patients, 57%) was lower than 1.5 whereas in poor outcome (30 patients, 83%) was higher than 1.5 (P<0.001). The correlations of ICP and CPP to pulsatility index were statistically significant (P<0.01).
TCD ultrasonography is valid in predicting the patient's outcome of 6 months and correlates significantly with ICP and CPP values when it is performed in the first 24 hours of severe traumatic brain injury.

RESULTS: Submandibular gland cells disappeared, matrix ingredients appeared network structure under microscopy and The collagen fibers showed different diameter and directions and formed complicated network structure and SEM. I, II and III type collagen proteins of submandibular gland before and after cell-extracted were positive under immunohistochemistry. CONCLUSIONS: The main ingredients of submandibular gland acellular matrix were I, II and III type collagen proteins.
Connexin43 (Cx43) is one of the most abundant gap junction proteins in the central nervous system. Abnormal opening of Cx43 hemichannels after ischemic insults causes apoptotic cell death. In this ...study, we found persistently increased expression of Cx43 8 h to 7 d after hypoxia/ischemia (HI) injury in neonatal rats. Pre-treatment with Gap26 and Gap27, two Cx43 mimetic peptides, significantly reduced cerebral infarct volume. Gap26 treatment at 24 h after ischemia improved functional recovery on muscle strength, motor coordination, and spatial memory abilities. Further, Gap26 inhibited Cx43 expression and reduced active astrogliosis. Gap26 interacted and co-localized with Cx43 together in brain tissues and cultured astrocytes. After oxygen glucose deprivation, Gap26 treatment reduced the total Cx43 level in cultured astrocytes; but Cx43 level in the plasma membrane was increased. Degradation of Cx43 in the cytoplasm was mainly via the ubiquitin proteasome pathway. Concurrently, phosphorylated Akt, which phosphorylates Cx43 on Serine373 and facilitates the forward transport of Cx43 to the plasma membrane, was increased by Gap26 treatment. Microdialysis showed that increased membranous Cx43 causes glutamate release by opening Cx43 hemichannels. Extracellular glutamate concentration was significantly decreased by Gap26 treatment in vivo. Finally, we found that cleaved caspase-3, an apoptosis marker, was attenuated after HI injury by Gap26 treatment. Effects of Gap27 were analogous to those of Gap26. In summary, our findings demonstrate that modulation of Cx43 expression and astroglial function is a potential therapeutic strategy for ischemic brain injury.
