A 1.8 V 1 mW single-loop third-order delta sigma modulator is presented for audio applications, which achieves 85.1 dB SNDR in 20 kHz signal bandwidth with a sampling frequency of 5.12 MHz. The ...modulator is implemented by using the fully differential switched-capacitor circuit to compose a discrete-time system. The cascade of integrators with feedforward summation architecture is used to reduce the performance of the amplifier, so the amplifier is enabled to decrease the power dissipation. By considering the characteristics of the modulator, an operational amplifier is designed with low-quiescent current. The chip is implemented in a standard 0.18-μm CMOS process with the area of 0.24-mm 2 .
Telomere extension by telomerase is essential for chromosome stability and cell vitality. Here, we report the identification of a splice variant of mammalian heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein ...A2 (hnRNP A2), hnRNP A2*, which binds telomeric DNA and telomerase in vitro. hnRNP A2* colocalizes with telomerase in Cajal bodies and at telomeres. In vitro assays show that hnRNP A2* actively unfolds telomeric G-quadruplex DNA, exposes 5 nt of the 3' telomere tail and substantially enhances the catalytic activity and processivity of telomerase. The expression level of hnRNP A2* in tissues positively correlates with telomerase activity, and overexpression of hnRNP A2* leads to telomere elongation in vivo. Thus, hnRNP A2* plays a positive role in unfolding telomere G-quadruplexes and in enhancing telomere extension by telomerase. PUBLICATION ABSTRACT

This paper calculates the energy consumption and CO sub(2) emissions of Beijing over 2005-2011 in light of the Beijing's energy balance table and the carbon emission coefficients of IPCC. ...Furthermore, based on a series of energy conservation planning program issued in Beijing, the Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System (LEAP)-BJ model is developed to study the energy consumption and CO sub(2) emissions of Beijing's six end-use sectors and the energy conversion sector over 2012-2030 under the BAU scenario and POL scenario. Some results are found in this research: (1) During 2005-2011, the energy consumption kept increasing, while the total CO sub(2) emissions fluctuated obviously in 2008 and 2011. The energy structure and the industrial structure have been optimized to a certain extent. (2) If the policies are completely implemented, the POL scenario is projected to save 21.36 and 35.37 % of the total energy consumption and CO sub(2) emissions than the BAU scenario during 2012 and 2030. (3) The POL scenario presents a more optimized energy structure compared with the BAU scenario, with the decrease of coal consumption and the increase of natural gas consumption. (4) The commerce and service sector and the energy conversion sector will become the largest contributor to energy consumption and CO sub(2) emissions, respectively. The transport sector and the industrial sector are the two most potential sectors in energy savings and carbon reduction. In terms of subscenarios, the energy conservation in transport (TEC) is the most effective one. (5) The macroparameters, such as the GDP growth rate and the industrial structure, have great influence on the urban energy consumption and carbon emissions.

In this paper, a new silicon-on-insulator superjunction lateral double-diffused MOSFET (SOI SJLDMOS) with a p-trench layer and stepped buried oxide, is investigated using 3D numerical simulation. The ...p-trench layer and stepped buried oxide distinguish it from a conventional SOI SJLDMOS. The etched buried oxide layer, with its stepped buried -oxide structure, which facilitates a more even electric field distribution via the electric field modulation effect, increases the breakdown-voltage (BV). Furthermore, the p-trench layer improves the doping concentration through compensation depletion, which further decreases the specific on-resistance (Ron,sp). The simulation indicates that the new device has a higher BV (increased by 29%) than the conventional SOI SJLDMOS. At the same time, Ron,sp decreases by 20% for the on-state for a given drift-region length.
•A new SOI SJ LDMOS with p-trench and stepped buried oxide is proposed.•The p-trench layer for a higher doping concentration and lower on-resistance of the device.•The stepped buried oxide layer modulates the electric field distribution more uniform.•A 29% increase in the breakdown voltage for the SOI BSJ-PT LDMOS device.•A 20% decrease in the specific on-resistance for the SOI BSJ-PT LDMOS device.

At the end of 2017, the CSNS (China Spallation Neutron Source) started the running with the neutron beam. The white neutron source "Back-n" as the extended program of the CSNS had its first results ...from several experiments. The Light Charged Particle detectors array (LPDA) in this report is one of the experimental systems, including an elaborate vacuum chamber and some vary purpose detectors. During the developing and testing, this system gives excellent performance. Preliminary results from the Light Charged Particle detectors array (LPDA) show a good particle resolution with 6 Li target. The more interested target will be implemented in future.
In order to improve the intelligence and unmanned capabilities of mining shovels and increase the production efficiency of surface mining, it is necessary to realize the precise control of the ...excavation trajectory of mining shovels. This paper establishes the correlation between the joint space and drive space position, velocity and acceleration and force of mining shovel. Then a sliding mode control method based on a disturbance observer is proposed to realize the precise control of the excavation trajectory of mining shovels, and the stability of this closed-loop system is proved using the Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, the study compares the proposed control method with the traditional PID and sliding mode methods by conducting a comparative test under the same excavation trajectory. The results confirm the superiority of the proposed control method in tracking the excavation trajectory of minina electric shovels.
Self-similar fractals are of importance in both science and engineering. Metal-organic Sierpin′ ski triangles are particularly attractive for applications in gas separation, catalysis and sensing. ...Such fractals are constructed in this study by using 1208 V-shaped 4,400-dicyano-1,10:30,100-terphenyl molecules and Fe atoms on Au(1 1 1), and studied in detail by low-temperature scanning tunneling microscopy. Density functional theory calculations are employed to rationalize the invisible Fe atoms in STM images. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to understand the formation mechanism of the surface-supported fractal crystals.

LaMnO sub(3), LaFeO sub(3), LaCoO sub(3) and LaNiO sub(3) perovskite oxides were prepared using combustion method for autothermal reforming of ethanol (ATRE). Fresh, reduced and used catalysts were ...characterized by XRD, TEM, ethanol-TPD, and H sub(2)-TPR. The perovskite-type oxides exhibit moderate activities in the ATRE reaction. Well dispersed Ni particles on lanthanum oxide species were obtained by reducing the LaNiO sub(3) sample. It favors the dehydrogenation, decomposition of ethanol/acetaldehyde, methane reforming and water gas shift reactions, thus leads to good activity and H sub(2) selectivity in ATRE reaction. Typically, 3.2 H sub(2) molecules per ethanol molecule were produced at EtOH:H sub(2)O:O sub(2) = 1:2:0.98 and GHSV = 4 x 10 super(5) h super(-1). A comparison between LaNiO sub(3) derived and impregnated Ni/La sub(2)O sub(3) shows that the LaNiO sub(3) derived sample favored the dispersion of Ni, which increased the activity and the resistance to coke deposition.
