The output power of the photovoltaic island microgrid is intermittent and random. To ensure the reliability and stability of power supply, the idea that combines the high energy density battery with ...supercapacitor which has high power density to form hybrid energy storage system applied to photovoltaic (PV) microgrid becomes a research hotspot On the basis of existing research, this paper proposes a multi-hysteresis control strategy based on energy management The energy storage system working state can be optimized and the working life of the battery can be greatly improved by this control strategy. Using MATLAB/Simulink software, a simulation module for PV Island microgrid based on hybrid energy storage is constructed, and the control strategy of PV microgrid is verified and analyzed. Simulation results show that the proposed hybrid energy storage system can balance the instantaneous power rapidly, optimize the microgrid operation, and ensure the reliability of power supply.
AbstractA new structural system, called steel frame with cold-formed steel shear infill walls (SFIW), is developed by using cold-formed steel shear walls with steel sheathing plates on both sides as ...infill walls in steel frame. The purpose is to investigate the ultimate strength of SFIW by a theoretical analysis and to study the cyclic behavior of SFIW by tests. Cyclic loading tests were conducted to characterize the seismic behavior and failure mechanism of the proposed system, and to identify the shear resistance contribution ratio between the infill wall and the steel frame. The results showed that SFIW exhibited relatively high ultimate strength, good ductility, and substantial energy absorption capacity. Furthermore, plastic analysis of this structural system was performed to investigate the ultimate strength of SFIW. The calculated values of the ultimate strengths by the proposed analytical theories were compared with the tested values and reasonable agreement was observed.
Background and Aim
The aim of this study is to identify gastric cancer burden in Indigenous Taiwanese peoples and conduct a project to evaluate how to reduce the disparities most effectively in ...Indigenous communities.
Methods
First, we quantified the health disparities in gastric cancer in Indigenous peoples using data from the cancer registries during the period of 2006–2014. Second, we identified parameters that might be associated with Helicobacter pylori infection or help identify a good eradication strategy.
Results
Gastric cancer incidence (24.4 vs 12.3 per 100 000 person‐years) and mortality rates (15.8 vs 6.8 per 100 000 person‐years) were higher in Indigenous than in non‐Indigenous, with 2.19‐fold (95% confidence interval CI: 2.06–2.33) and 2.47‐fold (2.28–2.67) increased risk, respectively. In Indigenous communities, H. pylori infection was more prevalent in Indigenous than in non‐Indigenous (59.4% vs 31.5%, P < 0.01). Regression analyses consistently showed that either the mountain or plain Indigenous had 1.89‐fold (95% CI: 1.34–2.66) and 1.73‐fold (95% CI: 1.24–2.41) increased risk for H. pylori infection, respectively, as compared with non‐Indigenous, adjusting for other baseline characteristics. The high infection rates were similarly seen in young, middle‐aged, and older adults. Program eradication rates using clarithromycin‐based triple therapy were suboptimal (73.7%, 95% CI: 70.0–77.4%); the habits of smoking (1.70‐fold, 95% CI: 1.01–2.39) and betel nut chewing (1.54‐fold, 95% CI: 0.93–2.16) were associated with the higher risk of treatment failure.
Conclusion
Gastric cancer burden is higher in Indigenous Taiwanese peoples than in their non‐Indigenous counterparts. Eliminating the prevalent risk factor of H. pylori infection is a top priority to reduce this health disparity.

Purpose
In agricultural practices, continuous cultivation of genetically modified crops with high commercial value has a definite impact on soil microbial diversity. Soil microorganisms directly ...define the operational degree and function realization of the soil ecosystem. To understand the safety of environmental release, we studied the effects of continuous cropping of transgenic cotton on the diversity of bacterial communities in the rhizosphere soil.
Methods
We have applied a high-throughput sequencing method and compared the bacterial community structure as well as diversity of rhizosphere soil of the transgenic cotton line (25C-1) and its parent cotton line (TH2).
Result
Structural analysis of the bacterial community showed that
Arthrobacter
and
Sphingomonas
are significantly enriched after continuous cropping of transgenic cotton lines and had a positive impact on the soil’s ecological environment. Interestingly, parameters of the physical and chemical properties of soil used for the continuous cropping of the two cotton lines for 3 consecutive years show no detectable change, other than total nitrogen. Notably, Spearman’s correlation analysis suggests that total nitrogen is the key environmental factor that affects the bacterial community of the soil used to cultivate the transgenic cotton.
Conclusion
We did not find a notable difference in species diversity between the two samples. However, the proportions of beneficial bacteria (
Arthrobacter
and
Sphingomonas
) increased and the total nitrogen content has changed in 3 years. These results provide necessary insights into the function and role of bacteria in transgenic cotton. This study will help future investigators assess the potential ecological risks of genetically modified plants.
Magnetic graphene was prepared by modified polyol methods. Gallic acid-based epoxy resin was synthesized and adopted to enhance the dispersion of graphene. Four kinds of coating were prepared, and ...they were graphene coatings (G), magnetic graphene coatings (MG), magnetic graphene coatings oriented by magnetic field (MG-MF), magnetic graphene zinc-rich coatings (MG/Zn), magnetic graphene zinc-rich coatings oriented by magnetic field (MG/Zn-MF). Magnetic graphene has a larger size than the graphene, which reduced its delamination in the coatings and weakened the protective ability. After the oriented treatment by magnetic field, the parallel hierarchical arrangement of magnetic graphene significantly increased the diffusion resistance of corrosive medium and improved the corrosion resistance of the coatings. The diffusion kinetics of corrosive media in the coatings was established. However, the orientation of magnetic graphene attenuated the cathodic protection of zinc-rich coatings, due to the reduction of effective electron transport path and active interfacial zinc. The electrons lost by the anode sacrifice of zinc needed to cross two types of potential barriers in the process of migrating to the protected metal. They were metal-graphene potential barrier and graphene-graphene potential barrier. According to the calculation and modeling of electrodynamics and quantum mechanics, electron penetration through the latter barrier was less difficult than the former and graphene facilitated the transfer of electrons between metals. This was also the microscopic mechanism of graphene improving the cathodic protection of zinc-rich coatings.
•The magnetic graphene is oriented in the coatings.•Gallic acid is used to disperse graphene.•The effect of graphene alignment on coating properties is clarified.•The electronic transfer equations in zinc-rich coatings are established.

To investigate whether Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG conditioned medium(LGG-CM)has preventive effect against E. coli K1-induced neuropathogenicity in vitro by inhibiting nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) ...signaling pathway.
An in vitro blood-brain barrier (BBB) model was constructed using human brain microvascular endothelial cells (HBMECs). The effect of LGG-CM on E. coli-actived NF-κB signaling pathway was assayed using Western blotting. Invasion assay and polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMN) transmigration assay were performed to explore whether LGG-CM could inhibit E. coli invasion and PMN transmigration across the BBB in vitro. The expressions of ZO-1 and CD44 were detected using Western blotting and immunofluorescence. The changes of trans-epithelial electric resistance (TEER) and bacterial translocation were determined to evaluate the BBB permeability.
Pre-treament with LGG-CM inhibited E. coli-activated NF-κB signaling pathway in HBMECs and decreased the invasion of E. coli K1 and transmigration of PMN. Western blot
This research is focused on the behavior of a novel cold-formed steel (CFS) shear wall system- steel sheathed cold-formed steel trussed shear wall (SSCFSTSW), which is different in skeleton ...configuration compared to conventional steel sheathed CFS framed shear wall. A test program was conducted on shear walls of various configurations. The walls differed in sheathing, chord studs and skeleton configurations. The results indicated that SSCFSTSW gave a significantly higher ultimate strength than that obtained from conventional shear walls. Based on the results, detailed discussion of the influence of different configurations on the performance of shear walls is given.
•A novel cold-formed steel shear wall system was developed.•An experimental study on the performance of this wall was conducted.•The connection failure modes allowed shear walls to dissipate more energy.•The influence of different configurations on the performance of shear walls was discussed.•This wall gave a significantly higher ultimate strength than conventional wall.

yBackground Symbrachydactyly is defined as a combination of short fingers with syndactyly. There are few published reports estimating the incidence of symbrachydactyly. The aim of this study was to ...investigate the clinical features and the outcome of surgical treatment for congenital symbrachydactyly. Methods One hundred and twenty webs of thirty-four patients of symbrachydactyly were involved in the study. The sex ratio was 21 males/13 females. The age ranged from 1 year to 8 years, average 2.6 years. Four cases had both hands involved and 30 patients had one hand involvement. Release of the syndactylous digits webs were completed by one surgical procedure in 14 cases and more than one surgical procedure in 20 cases; 3 to 6 months between the procedures. In the meantime, some of the associated hand deformities were treated. Results Postoperative follow-up time was 10 to 18 months, average 12 months. All the fingers involved in this study were separated successfully. However, 6 fingers had scar tissue contracture and 8 had web scar adhesion. All complications needed further surgical treatment. Parents of 94.1% of the patients were satisfied with the overall function of the hand, and 76.5% were satisfied with the cosmetic appearance of hand. Conclusions The combination of syndactyly and brachydactyly is the main clinical feature in symbrachydactyly. Separation of the digital webs can greatly improve the function of the hand. However, more work needs to be done to improve the cosmetic appearance of the hand.
