Experiments were carried out on anesthetized dogs which had sustained a 15--20-minute circulatory arrest and were reanimated with the aid of donor circulation. In the I group of experiments the blood ...flow from the donor was directed to the heart of the revived dog, and in the II group--to the heart and the brain. Unlike other methods, donor reanimation, especially in the II variant of experiments, promoted a more rapid recovery of the vital functions of the organism and increased the number of survived animals. In spite of a complete apparent recovery of dogs after a prolonged circulatory arrest there were different changes in their brain depending both upon the duration of clinical death and the reanimation methods.
The dogs who suffered 17-minute circulatory arrest induced by electric injury show progressive hemostasis and rheology disorders associated with peripheral and central hemodynamic disturbances. ...Injection of defibrinated plasma and microdoses of heparin during the first minutes of resuscitation inhibits the generation of thrombin, decreases blood viscosity, and prevents secondary circulation disorders. Hemodynamic stabilizaton is accompanied by the increased oxygen supply and consumption, by acceleration of metabolic disorders correction, which improves the final results of resuscitation.
Changes in the system hemodynamics, renal and hind limb blood flow, as well as some endocrine-metabolic parameters were studied in 24 dogs which survived 17-minute circulatory arrest. As revealed, ...relative compensation and normalization of several functions and metabolic parameters in the course of 1 hour after reanimation were followed by a new wave of disturbances developing unsimultaneously, irregularly and gradually in the whole organism and some peripheral tissues. Thus, disturbances of the peripheral circulation and of the central hemodynamics served as one of the basic pathological symptoms of postreanimation disease.
A syndrome of low cardiac output developed between the 1st and the 3rd hours after the resuscitation in 16 dogs after the arrest of blood circulation for 15 minutes. The increase of cardiac output at ...the initial period of resuscitation took place in 50% of cases before the development of this syndrome. In the absence of hyperperfusion at the beginning of the resuscitation the animals died 9 to 23 hours after the experiment. Cerebral cortex edema developed in all the survived dogs which had low cardiac output 24 hours after resuscitation, but it was not observed in animals with high cardiac output.
