The archaeological excavations had as their main objectives, on the one hand, the opening of new research units (areas), in order to fully reveal some of the complexes belonging to the previously ...uncovered Eneolithic dwellings, and on the other hand, the execution of control surveys and stratigraphical checks in order to capture the horizontal extension of the traces of the Eneolithic dwellings (Tiszapolgar - Decea, Coțofeni, present at the top of the Mureș donkey). The archaeological excavations at Sheşa-Gorgan will continue in the following campaigns, by completing the open areas this year and by addressing the central and south-west area of the mouth by opening new surfaces and stratigraphical control sections.
Cercetarea arheologică a avut ca obiective principale, pe de o parte, deschiderea unor noi unități de cercetare (suprafețe), în vederea relevării complete a unor complexe aparținând locuirilor eneolitice descoperite anterior, iar pe de altă parte, executarea unor sondaje de control și verificare stratigrafică în vederea surprinderii extinderii pe orizontală a urmelor locuirilor eneolitice (Tiszapolgar - Decea Mureșului, Coțofeni) prezente în vârful măgurii. Cercetările arheologice de la Șeușa-Gorgan vor continua în campaniile următoare, prin definitivarea suprafețelor deschise în acest an și prin abordarea zonei centrale și sud-vestice a măgurii prin deschiderea unor noi suprafețe și secțiuni de control stratigrafic.
The tell in the location of “Gorgana” is situated half way between the villages of Pietrele and Puieni, on the edge of the Danube terrace. The objectives of this campaign included: reconstructing the ...landscape from the Neo-Eneolithic period by the geomorphological study of the area; continuing the geomagnetical prospecting (begun in 2004) on the area of the tell and in the neighouring area; continuing the archaeological excavations in sections B and F begun during the previous campaigns.
