Value-at-Risk (VaR) is one of the most popular tools used to estimate exposure to market risk and it measures the worst expected loss at a given level of confidence. This paper explains the main ...characheristics of the VaR concept, as well as, its advantages and limitations. Global financial turmoil changed the whole financial system worldwide and put under the question mark usefulness of market risk techniques. This paper intent to give some frameworks and opinion regarding crucial point impersonate in question: can we blame VaR and other market risk tools for financial turmoil and do they work well during financial crisis? The purpose of paper is presentation of market risk tools to risk management professionals and their possible usefulness in daily operations.
Repo transactions are very important segment of money market. The importance of repo deals continually growing, taking into account their main characteristics as well as reached trading volume on ...interbank market. Global financial crisis and individual speculative transactions significantly influenced on volume and frequency of repo transactions from the end of 2007, but clear signals of recovery show on undoubtfull significance of repo deals on total liquidity and financial markets development at whole. This paper is intended for broad economic auditorium and professionals in financial area, which are faced in daily operations with repo transaction subject matter on financial markets.
The complexity of public administration, as one of the most pressing problems which citizens of the Republic of Serbia are facing, led to inefficiency and non-responsiveness, as well as the ...dissatisfaction of citizens who do not have alternative options to meet their needs. Under the impact of financial crisis, governments are forced to reduce their costs, volume of administration, to build online connections and relationships with citizens and businesses. Realizing that they, like the companies, must transform themselves to meet requirements and obtain satisfaction of citizens, governments have found very powerfull tool for overcoming the problems – information and communication technology (ICT) and electronic government. The aim of this paper is to show that the evolution from electronic government toward lean government should be the backbone of any modern information society and a key competitive advantage that will bring greater efficiency of society as a whole.
i medije komunikacija u prvi plan. Za ...djelovanje
masovnih medija bitno je da se odrede u konkretnom
prostoru, te da optimalnim rješenjima sadržaja
i programskih oblika kontinuirano djeluju.
Po autoru osnovna metodološka pitanja jesu slijedeća:
izbor ciljne grupe, sadržajni okvir obrazovnog
programa, zahtjev za sistematskim školovanjem,
opseg nastavnog plana i programa radija i
televizije, izbor nastavnih metoda, predavača te
mjesta izvođenja nastave i sredstava nastave.
Iz nekih inozemnih iskustava (Poljske, Indije, Kube,
Kenije, Velike Britanije, Kanade i SAD) v.dljivo je
da razvijene zemlje poklanjaju obrazovanju putem
radija i televizije daleko veću pažnju od naše, a
nerazvijenije zemlje to čine znatno više. Autor se
zalaže da se u nas uvede multimedijski pristup
obrazovanju poljoprivrednika. Tako postavljena nova
edukacija razvila bi stvaralačke snage poljoprivrednika,
omogućila im da se osposobe za samostalno
djelovanje, ali kao članovi zajednice. Nova edukacija
mora spojiti tradicionalna znanja s primjenom
Examination of the relevance of mass communications media for improvement of the educational level of Yugoslav farmers addresses the following basic methodological questions: selection of target ...group, contextual framework of the educational program, demand for systematic schooling, scope of curriculum, use of radio & TV, selection of teaching methods, & choice of lecturers, teaching sites, & teaching aids. Foreign experience (Poland, India, Cuba, Kenya, the UK, Canada, & the US) shows that developed countries attach greater importance to education by radio & TV than does Yugoslavia, & underdeveloped countries do so even more. A multimedia approach to farmer education is urged that would develop their creative capacities & prepare them for independent action as community members. Traditional knowledge should be combined with the application of innovations & consumer knowledge. Modified HA.
Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a highly pure polysaccharide biopolymer that can be produced by various bacterial genera. Even though BC lacks functional properties, its porosity, three-dimensional ...network, and high specific surface area make it a suitable carrier for functional composite materials. In the present study, BC-producing bacteria were isolated from kombucha beverage and identified using a molecular method. Two sets of the BC hydrogels were produced in static conditions after four and seven days. Afterwards, two different synthesis pathways were applied for BC functionalization. The first method implied the incorporation of previously synthesized HAp/TiO2 nanocomposite using an immersion technique, while the second method included the functionalization of BC during the synthesis of HAp/TiO2 nanocomposite in the reaction mixture. The primary goal was to find the best method to obtain the functionalized material. Physicochemical and microstructural properties were analyzed by SEM, EDS, FTIR, and XRD methods. Further properties were examined by tensile test and thermogravimetric analysis, and antimicrobial activity was assessed by a total plate count assay. The results showed that HAp/TiO2 was successfully incorporated into the produced BC hydrogels using both methods. The applied methods of incorporation influenced the differences in morphology, phase distribution, mechanical and thermal properties, and antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923), Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922), Proteus mirabilis (ATCC 12453), and Candida albicans (ATCC 10231). Composite material can be recommended for further development and application in environments that are suitable for diseases spreading.

Design of algorithms that are able to estimate video quality as perceived by human observers is of interest for a number of applications. Depending on the video content, the artifacts introduced by ...the coding process can be more or less pronounced and diversely affect the quality of videos, as estimated by humans. While it is well understood that motion affects both human attention and coding quality, this relationship has only recently started gaining attention among the research community, when video quality assessment (VQA) is concerned. In this paper, the effect of calculating several objective measure features, related to video coding artifacts, separately for salient motion and other regions of the frames of the sequence is examined. In addition, we propose a new scheme for quality assessment of coded video streams, which takes into account salient motion. Standardized procedure has been used to calculate the Mean Opinion Score (MOS), based on experiments conducted with a group of non-expert observers viewing standard definition (SD) sequences. MOS measurements were taken for nine different SD sequences, coded using MPEG-2 at five different bit-rates. Eighteen different published approaches related to measuring the amount of coding artifacts objectively on a single-frame basis were implemented. Additional features describing the intensity of salient motion in the frames, as well as the intensity of coding artifacts in the salient motion regions were proposed. Automatic feature selection was performed to determine the subset of features most correlated to video quality. The results show that salient-motion-related features enhance prediction and indicate that the presence of blocking effect artifacts and blurring in the salient regions and variance and intensity of temporal changes in non-salient regions influence the perceived video quality.
