This essay is a brief review of the recent studies of non-singular cosmological scenarios with bounce and Genesis and their stability in a subclass of scalar–tensor theories with higher ...derivatives—beyond Horndeski theories. We discuss the general results of stability analysis of the nonsingular cosmological solutions in beyond Horndeski theories, as well as other closely related topics: 1) the no-go theorem, which is valid in the general Horndeski theories but not in their extensions, 2) singularities in disformal transformations relating beyond Horndeski theories with general ones, 3) healthy behavior of the scalar sector in the unitary gauge despite divergencies of coefficients in the quadratic action for perturbations (“γ-crossing”). We describe several specific examples of bouncing cosmologies and models with Genesis epoch which have neither ghosts nor gradient instabilities among the linearized perturbations about the homogeneous isotropic background during entire evolution.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the development of prophylactic vaccines, including those based on new platforms, became highly relevant. One such platform is the creation of vaccines combining DNA and ...protein components in one construct. For the creation of DNA vaccine, we chose the full-length spike protein (S) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and used the recombinant receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the S protein produced in CHO-K1 cells as a protein component. The immunogenicity of the developed combined vaccine and its individual components was compared and the contribution of each component to the induction of the immune response was analyzed. The combined DNA/protein vaccine possesses the advantages of both underlying approaches and is capable of inducing both humoral (similar to subunit vaccines) and cellular (similar to DNA vaccines) immunity.

The surface morphology and elemental composition of porous composite particles have been studied by SEM and EDX methods. It has been found that the external surface of porous silica particles is modified to different extents. It has been shown that the position of the isoelectric point (IEP) and the values of the zeta-potentials for the composites coincide in indifferent electrolyte solutions. Two isoelectric points are observed in the pH dependences of the zeta-potential for the composite particles in nickel chloride solutions. The paper presents one of the possible solutions of the reverse engineering problem from the point of view of the classical system approach, as well as highlights the direction for the development of ...a complex software product. This approach will make it possible to change the modern practice of reverse engineering, which is applied everywhere. This practice requires expert evaluation by operator teams on non-acceptance basis. The approach proposed by the authors will significantly minimize human participation in this process.
The paper reports major relations and trends determined in the distributions of trace elements and the Sr and Nd isotope composition of leucogranites of the Turga massif in Eastern Transbaikalia. ...Three varieties of the leucogranites are distinguished: porphyritic biotite granites, equigranular granites with Li-siderophyllite, and amazonite granites that make up small stocks and dikes. All of the rocks define a single Rb–Sr isochron that corresponds to an age of 134 ± 1 Ma at IR
(Sr)
= 0.71768 ± 22 and MSWD = 1.2, i.e., all of these rocks crystallized within a narrow age span. The porphyritic biotite granites, which are thought to be parental for the leucogranites, crystallized at lower temperatures (710–740°C) than the younger granites with Li-siderophyllite (810–850°C). Moreover, the granites with Li-siderophyllite have elevated Fe concentrations, which is reflected in that their micas are Fe-rich. The leucogranites are enriched in HFSE (270 ± 59 ppm Zr, 337 ± 93 ppm REE, 72 ± 31 ppm Th, and 16 ± 6 ppm U), which is atypical of amazonite granites in the study area. Considered together with very low Sr and low Ti and P concentrations, these compositional features are distinguishing features of A-type granites. The rare-metal granites of the Turga massif are unique in composition: being similar to amazonite granites in mineralized massifs, these rocks carry accessory minerals typical of peralkaline rocks. They contain LREE fluorides and fluorcarbonates (fluocerite, bastnaesite, and parisite), minerals of the pyrochlore and samarskite groups, and minerals of the isostructural group of REE–Y–Zr–Th–U silicate-phosphates. Our data provide grounds for classifying the rare-metal granites of the Turga massif with an unusual transitional geochemical subtype: peraluminous columbite-bearing amazonite granites of elevated alkalinity with peralkaline REE–Nb–Zr–Th–U mineralization.

Coagulation of polydisperse detonation nanodiamond (DND) hydrosol containing primary aggregates with a prevailing average size in a range of 20–200 nm has been studied experimentally and ...theoretically within the framework of the classical and extended DLVO theory as depending on the concentrations of an indifferent electrolyte (NaCl) and potential-determining ions (pH). It has been shown that the surface of DND particles is charged due to the ionization of ionogenic amphoteric hydroxyl and acidic carboxyl groups located on it. The isoelectric point of the detonation nanodiamond particles has been found to correspond to pH 7.5. It has been revealed that the main stabilizing factor of the DND hydrosol is electrostatic. It has been shown that the stability and coagulation of the sol can be described within the framework of the extended DLVO theory using the effective Hamaker constant for primary porous aggregates and taking into account the initial polydispersity of the DND particles.

Results of a study of the fine structure of an alloy of the Mg – Zn – Zr – REE system proving the presence of nanosize plates of self-organizing LPSO-phases after deformation are presented. The Zn ...and Y hardening elements are redistributed in the periodic rows of the LPSO phases under the effect of the deformation process parameters. The optimum deformation mode of the new alloy provides formation of periodic rows in plates of LPSO phases bearing (3.2 – 4.3) at.% Y and (3.8 – 4.2) at.% Zn.
