The issue of authentic leadership has been generating increased interest in both practical and academic domains. This study examines the influence of authentic leadership on employee trust and ...employee work engagement from the dyadic supervisor-employee viewpoint. The sample data consists of responses from 77 team supervisors and 345 employees in 36 companies. We utilize hierarchical linear modeling to test the hypotheses. The cross-level results show that employee trust fully mediates supervisor-perceived authentic leadership and employee work engagement, and that employee-perceived authentic leadership fully mediates the relationship between supervisor-perceived authentic leadership and employee trust, as well as the relationship between supervisor-perceived authentic leadership and employee work engagement. On the individual level, employee trust has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between employee-perceived authentic leadership and employee work engagement.

Metaplastic breast cancer (MBC) is a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. The effectiveness of chemotherapy (CT) for MBC remains controversial. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy ...of CT combined hormone receptor (HR) status on MBC patients with high risk (T1-4N2-3M0 and T4N0-1M0) by propensity-score matching (PSM).
A retrospective study was performed to analyze MBC from the SEER database. Breast cancer-specific survival (BCSS) was analyzed using the Kaplan–Meier curve. Cox proportional hazard models were used to assess BCSS. PSM was used to make 1:1 case-control matching.
This study identified 3116 patients. The median follow-up time was 44 months (range, 1–321 months). About 62.5 % of patients received CT. 23.0 % of patients were HR-positive. Recurrence risk had a significant difference between the HR-negative and HR-positive groups. In the multivariable Cox regression model, CT had no benefit for MBC patients. HR status was not associated with a better prognosis. In subgroup analysis, the Kaplan–Meier analysis showed that HR-negative MBC with intermediate-risk benefited from CT. For HR-positive MBC, patients with intermediate and high risk also benefited from CT. After PSM, neither CT nor HR status was not related to better BCSS. Moreover, the use of CT could only improve the survival of HR-positive MBC patients with high risk.
PSM analysis showed that HR status was not associated with a better prognosis. CT was not a significant prognostic factor for prognosis. However, HR-positive MBC patients with high risk might benefit from CT.

Background and aims: One of the primary causes of lumen narrowing is vascular injury induced during medical procedures. Vascular injury disrupts the integrity of the endothelium, triggering platelet ...deposition, leukocyte recruitment, and the release of inflammatory factors. This, in turn, induces the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), leading to neointima formation. However, the molecular mechanism underlying VSMC proliferation following injury remains unknown. KIF11 is critical in regulating the cell cycle by forming bipolar spindles during mitotic metaphase. This process may contribute to VSMCs proliferation and neointima formation following vascular injury. Yet, the function of KIF11 in VSMCs has not been elucidated. This study aims to investigate the role and mechanisms of KIF11 in regulating VSMCs cycle progression and proliferation. Methods: After conducting biological analysis of the transcriptome sequencing data from the mouse carotid artery injury model and the cell transcriptome data of PDGF-BB-induced VSMCs, we identified a potential target gene, KIF11, which may play a crucial role in vascular injury. Then we established a vascular injury model to investigate how changes in KIF11 expression and activity influence in vivo VSMCs proliferation and neointimal formation. In addition, we employed siRNA and specific inhibitors to suppress KIF11 expression and activity in VSMCs cultured in vitro to study the mechanisms underlying VSMCs cycle progression and proliferation. Results: The results of immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence indicate a significant upregulation of KIF11 expression in the injured vascular. The intraperitoneal injection of the KIF11 specific inhibitor, K858, partially inhibits intimal hyperplasia in the vascular injury model. In vitro experiments further demonstrate that PDGF-BB upregulates KIF11 expression through the PI3K/AKT pathway, and enhances KIF11 activity. Inhibition of both KIF11 expression and activity partially reverses the pro-cycle progression and pro-proliferation effects of PDGF-BB on VSMCs. Additionally, KIF11 overexpression partially counteracts the proliferation arrest and cell cycle arrest induced by inhibiting the PI3K/AKT pathway in VSMCs. Conclusion: Our study highlights the crucial role of KIF11 in regulating the cycle progression and proliferation of VSMCs after vascular injury. A comprehensive understanding of these mechanisms could pave the way for potential therapeutic interventions in treating vascular stenosis.

Purpose - The purpose of this research is to examine how the fit between the strategy of business and HRM would affect HRM effectiveness and organizational performance. The paper aimed to find ...whether a better fit between firm's strategy and HRM strategy would strengthen HRM effectiveness and organizational performance.Design methodology approach - The literature was reviewed from both the theoretical and empirical perspectives. Four hypotheses were formulated. Top 1,000 manufacturing companies in Taiwan were sampled, yielding valid questionnaire data and objective performance indexes from 181 firms. Multiple regressions and LISREL was employed to test the four hypotheses empirically.Findings - The main findings were: the strategy fit between a firm's business and HRM strategy has a positive and direct impact on HRM effectiveness and labor productivity after analyzing by hierarchical multiple regression. HRM effectiveness could directly increase labor productivity while strategy fit strengthened the relationship between HRM effectiveness and labor productivity.Practical implications - This study found that the alignment between the business and HRM strategy was the key factor of success for organizations. When the HRM strategy and business strategy were aligned, the effectiveness of HR practices and organizational performance were better than "that of not aligned" by contingency perspective. This study also estimated the practical significance through calculating the impact of HRM effectiveness and strategy fit on labor productivity by each standard deviation increase, respectively.Originality value - This study confirmed that a firm's competitive advantage can be enhanced by HRM practices and strategy fit. Strategy fit could also moderate the relationship between HRM effectiveness and labor productivity.
Abstract Background Recently, PRRT2 gene mutations have been identified as a causative factor of paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia (PKD). However, evidence is still lacking with respect to the ...genotype to phenotype correlation in PKD patients. Methods We recruited a cohort of PKD patients with or without PRRT2 mutations for the study, and followed them for 6 months to observe the response to carbamazepine treatment. Results Thirty-four participants were included in this study; 16 patients were positive for a hot-spot p.R217Pfs*8 heterozygous PRRT2 gene mutation, while the other 18 patients were negative for PRRT2 gene mutations. PRRT2 mutations were found to be associated with a younger age of onset, bilateral presence and a higher frequency of attacks. Furthermore, the follow-up study revealed that p.R217Pfs*8-positive patients showed dramatic improvement with complete abolition of dyskinetic episodes with carbamazepine treatment, while only 7 of the 18 patients without PRRT2 mutations showed a response to the antiepileptic drug. Conclusions Our study indicated that positivity for PRRT2 mutation is a predictor of younger age of onset and more frequent of attacks in PKD patients. Interestingly, the presence of PRRT2 mutations also predicted a good response to carbamazepine therapy, especially at low dose. Therefore, genetic testing shows potential clinical significance for guiding the choice of medication for individual PKD cases.

The kinetics and thermodynamics of the adsorption can be satisfactorily described by the Pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm model, separately.
