As a rapidly growing family of 2D transition metal carbides and nitrides, MXenes are recognized as promising materials for the development of future electronics and optoelectronics. So far, the ...reported patterning methods for MXene films lack efficiency, resolution, and compatibility, resulting in limited device integration and performance. Here, a high‐performance MXene image sensor array fabricated by a wafer‐scale combination patterning method of an MXene film is reported. This method combines MXene centrifugation, spin‐coating, photolithography, and dry‐etching and is highly compatible with mainstream semiconductor processing, with a resolution up to 2 µm, which is at least 100 times higher than other large‐area patterning methods reported previously. As a result, a high‐density integrated array of 1024‐pixel Ti3C2Tx/Si photodetectors with a detectivity of 7.73 × 1014 Jones and a light–dark current ratio (Ilight/Idark) of 6.22 × 106, which is the ultrahigh value among all reported MXene‐based photodetectors, is fabricated. This patterning technique paves a way for large‐scale high‐performance MXetronics compatible with mainstream semiconductor processes.

One important goal of the current electrocatalysis is to develop integrated electrodes from the atomic level design to multilevel structural engineering in simple ways and low prices. Here, a series ...of oxygen micro‐alloyed high‐entropy alloys (O‐HEAs) is developed via a metallurgy approach. A (CrFeCoNi)97O3 bulk O‐HEA shows exceptional electrocatalytic performance for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), reaching an overpotential as low as 196 mV and a Tafel slope of 29 mV dec−1, and with stability longer than 120 h in 1 m KOH solution at a current density of 10 mA cm−2. It is shown that the enhanced OER performance can be attributed to the formation of island‐like Cr2O3 microdomains, the leaching of Cr3+ ions, and structural amorphization at the interfaces of the domains. These findings offer a technological‐orientated strategy to integrated electrodes.

Adipose‐derived stem cells (ASCs) are highly attractive for cell‐based therapies in tissue repair and regeneration because they have multilineage differentiation capacity and are immunosuppressive. ...However, the detailed epigenetic mechanisms of their immunoregulatory capacity are not fully defined. In this study, we found that Mysm1 was induced in ASCs treated with inflammatory cytokines. Adipose‐derived stem cells with Mysm1 knockdown exhibited attenuated immunosuppressive capacity, evidenced by less inhibition of T cell proliferation, more pro‐inflammatory factor secretion and less nitric oxide (NO) production in vitro. Mysm1‐deficient ASCs exacerbated inflammatory bowel diseases but inhibited tumour growth in vivo. Mysm1‐deficient ASCs also showed depressed miR‐150 expression. When transduced with Mysm1 overexpression lentivirus, ASCs exhibited enhanced miR‐150 expression. Furthermore, Mysm1‐deficient cells transduced with lentivirus containing miR‐150 mimics produced less pro‐inflammatory factors and more NO. Our study reveals a new role of Mysm1 in regulating the immunomodulatory activities of ASCs by targeting miR‐150. These novel insights into the mechanisms through which ASCs regulate immune reactions may lead to better clinical utility of these cells.

Inspired by the amphibian skin of Bombina orientalis, which is a kind of ancient toad species, amino acid ionic liquid (AAIL) is employed to functionalize interfacial polymerized nanofiltration ...membrane. AAIL offers the membranes with (1) higher hydrophilicity leading to pure water permeability of 12.2 L·h−1·m−2·bar−1, which is 63% higher than conventional NF membranes; (2) more negatively charged surface and slightly larger pore size, which results in a high Na2SO4/NaCl selectivity of 973.9, which is 43 times increased from conventional NF membrane and effective for resource recovery from pigment wastewater. Furthermore, the amino acid end groups (glycine) of AAIL, similar to the epidermal secretion of Bombina orientalis, act as humectant that prevents pore shrinkage during heat-treatment, which is important for membrane storage and transport. The AAIL functionalized membrane may provide an effective strategy to design high performance nanofiltration membranes for small molecular separations in pigment and other industries.

A1 astrocytes were induced by treatment with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in vitro. The functional phenotype of astrocytes was determined by quantitative RT-PCR, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry. To assess the role of A1 astrocytes in vivo, mice were injected intraperitoneally with LPS. Then, murine behaviors were tested, and the hippocampus and cortex were analyzed by quantitative RT-PCR, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry. The function of IL-10 and fluorocitrate on A1 astrocyte activation was also examined.
Our results show that astrocytes isolated from B6.129S6-Il10
/J homozygotes (IL-10
) were prone to characteristics of A1 reactive astrocytes. Compared with their wild-type counterparts, IL-10
astrocytes exhibited higher expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP). Whether or not they were stimulated with LPS, IL-10
astrocytes exhibited enhanced expression of A1-specific transcripts and proinflammatory factors IL-1β, IL-6, and TNFα. In addition, IL-10
astrocytes demonstrated hyperphosphorylation of STAT3. Moreover, astrocytes from IL-10
mice showed attenuated phagocytic ability and were neurotoxic. IL-10
mice demonstrated increased immobility time in the forced swim test and defective learning and memory behavior in the Morris water maze test. Moreover, enhanced neuroinflammation was found in the hippocampus and cortex of IL-10
mice, accompanying with more GFAP-positive astrocytes and severe neuron loss in the hippocampus. Pretreatment IL-10
mice with IL-10 or fluorocitrate decreased the expression of proinflammatory factors and A1-specific transcripts in the hippocampus and cortex, and then alleviated LPS-induced depressive-like behavior.
These results demonstrate that astrocytes isolated from B6.129S6-Il10
/J homozygotes are prone to A1 phenotype and contribute to the depression-like behavior and memory deficits. Inhibiting A1 astrocyte activation may be an attractive therapeutic strategy in some neurodegenerative diseases.

The consensus recommendations in 2018 from The Chinese Society of Hematology (CSH) on indications, conditioning regimens and donor selection for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation ...(allo-HSCT) facilitated the standardization of clinical practices of allo-HSCT in China and progressive integration with the world. There have been new developments since the initial publication. To integrate recent developments and further improve the consensus, a panel of experts from the CSH recently updated the consensus recommendations, which are summarized as follows: (1) there is a new algorithm for selecting appropriate donors for allo-HSCT candidates. Haploidentical donors (HIDs) are the preferred donor choice over matched sibling donors (MSDs) for patients with high-risk leukemia or elderly patients with young offspring donors in experienced centers. This replaces the previous algorithm for donor selection, which favored MSDs over HIDs. (2) Patients with refractory/relapsed lymphoblastic malignancies are now encouraged to undergo salvage treatment with novel immunotherapies prior to HSCT. (3) The consensus has been updated to reflect additional evidence for the application of allo-HSCT in specific groups of patients with hematological malignancies (intermediate-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML), favorable-risk AML with positive minimal residual disease, and standard-risk acute lymphoblastic leukemia). (4) The consensus has been updated to reflect additional evidence for the application of HSCT in patients with nonmalignant diseases, such as severe aplastic anemia and inherited diseases. (5) The consensus has been updated to reflect additional evidence for the administration of anti-thymocyte globulin, granulocyte colony-stimulating factors and post-transplantation cyclophosphamide in HID-HSCT.

Dysregulated extravillous trophoblast invasion and proliferation are known to increase the risk of recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA); however, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Herein, in ...our retrospective observational case-control study we show that villous samples from RSA patients, compared to healthy controls, display reduced succinate dehydrogenase complex iron sulfur subunit (SDHB) DNA methylation, elevated SDHB expression, and reduced succinate levels, indicating that low succinate levels correlate with RSA. Moreover, we find high succinate levels in early pregnant women are correlated with successful embryo implantation. SDHB promoter methylation recruited MBD1 and excluded c-Fos, inactivating SDHB expression and causing intracellular succinate accumulation which mimicked hypoxia in extravillous trophoblasts cell lines JEG3 and HTR8 via the PHD2-VHL-HIF-1α pathway; however, low succinate levels reversed this effect and increased the risk of abortion in mouse model. This study reveals that abnormal metabolite levels inhibit extravillous trophoblast function and highlights an approach for RSA intervention.

Tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) have been tested in various clinical trials in cancer treatment but the patterns of specific T cell response to personalized TAA immunization remains to be fully ...understood. We report antigen-specific T cell responses in patients immunized with dendritic cell vaccines pulsed with personalized TAA panels. Tumor samples from patients were first analyzed to identify overexpressed TAAs. Autologous DCs were then transfected with pre-manufactured mRNAs encoding the full-length TAAs, overexpressed in the patients' tumors. Patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) or advanced lung cancer received DC vaccines transfected with personalized TAA panels, in combination with low-dose cyclophosphamide, poly I:C, imiquimod and anti-PD-1 antibody. Antigen-specific T cell responses were measured. Safety and efficacy were evaluated. A total of ten patients were treated with DC vaccines transfected with personalized TAA panels containing 3–13 different TAAs. Among the seven patients tested for anti-TAA T cell responses, most of the TAAs induced antigen-specific CD4

T cell responses, regardless of their expression levels in the tumor tissues. No Grade III/IV adverse events were observed among these patients. Free‐standing CaCO3 materials are an important member in biological systems because of their existence in many natural organisms such as nacre, shell, and crustacean cuticle. However, toughness of ...those artificial mineral films is sacrificed once their inorganic content is up to 90%, thus free‐standing characteristics have seldom been achieved for CaCO3 films, let alone their real applications. Herein a fast and simple method for constructing hydrogel “bridges” for CaCO3 microparticles is presented, developing highly flexible free‐standing CaCO3 films with only 5% organic content. Such integrated films have underwater superoleophobicity and self‐cleaning function, which guarantee their repeated application in oil/water separation. Furthermore, heavy metal ions can be efficiently removed by simple filtration with the films. Because of the self‐similar structure, the films are able to resist mechanical abrasion without losing the anti‐wetting property and separation efficiency. The free‐standing CaCO3 films are put forward for the first time to practical application, demonstrating the strategy can bring a brilliant prospect to artificial biomineral materials.
A highly flexible free‐standing CaCO3 film with multiple functions is fabricated by constructing spider web‐simulated hydrogel bridges to connect fragile CaCO3 microparticles together. Owing to underwater superoleophobicity and their self‐cleaning function, allow to apply such films for the first time in oil/water separation and heavy metal removal. A self‐similar structure of the film guarantees good mechanical abrasion resistance without losing functions.
