Recently, Geng et al. proposed to allow a non-minimal coupling between quintessence and gravity in the framework of teleparallel gravity, motivated by the similar one in the framework of General ...Relativity (GR). They found that this non-minimally coupled quintessence in the framework of teleparallel gravity has a richer structure, and named it “teleparallel dark energy”. In the present work, we note that there might be a deep and unknown connection between teleparallel dark energy and Elko spinor dark energy. Motivated by this observation and the previous results of Elko spinor dark energy, we try to study the dynamics of teleparallel dark energy. We find that there exist only some dark-energy-dominated de Sitter attractors. Unfortunately, no scaling attractor has been found, even when we allow the possible interaction between teleparallel dark energy and matter. However, we note that w at the critical points is in agreement with observations (in particular, the fact that w=−1 independently of ξ is a great advantage).

2D layered materials have sparked great interest from the perspective of basic physics and applied science in the past few years. Extraordinarily, many novel stacked structures that bring versatile ...properties and applications can be artificially assembled, as exemplified by vertical van der Waals (vdW) heterostructures, twisted multilayer 2D materials, hybrid dimensional structures, etc. Compared with the ordinary synthesis process, the stacking technique is a powerful strategy to achieve high‐quality and freely controlled 2D material stacked structures with atomic accuracy. This review highlights the most advanced stacking techniques involving the preparation, transfer, and stacking of high‐quality single crystal 2D materials. Apart from the 2D–2D stacked structures, 2D–0D, 2D–1D, and 2D–3D structures offer a prospective platform for the increasing application of 2D materials. The assembly strategy and physical properties of these stacked structures strongly depend on the factors in the stacking process, including the surface quality, angle control, and sample size. In addition, comparative analysis tables on the techniques involved are also available. The summary of these strategies and techniques will hopefully provide a valuable reference for relevant work.
2D stacked structures are being rapidly developed. However, the assembly and integration techniques of 2D material‐based devices are still subject to many restrictions, seriously hindering the design and development of new functional devices. As one of the most important aspects, 2D material stacking techniques are systematically summarized and analyzed in this review.

In the present work, we reconsider the idea of holographic dark energy. One of its key points is the formation of the black hole. We then propose the so-called 'pilgrim dark energy' based on the ...speculation that the repulsive force contributed by the phantom-like dark energy (w < −1) is strong enough to prevent the formation of the black hole. We also consider the cosmological constraints on pilgrim dark energy by using the latest observational data. Of course, one can instead regard pilgrim dark energy as a purely phenomenological model without any physical motivation. We also briefly discuss this issue.
Critically-ill surgical patients are at higher risk for sarcopenia, which is associated with worse survival. Sarcopenia may impair the respiratory musculature, which can subsequently influence the ...outcome of ventilator weaning. Although there are a variety of weaning parameters predictive of weaning outcomes, none have tried to incorporate "muscle strength" or "sarcopenia". The aim of the current study was to explore the association between sarcopenia and difficult-to-wean (DtW) in critically-ill surgical patients. The influence of sarcopenia on ICU mortality was also analyzed.
Ninety-six patients undergoing mechanical ventilation in the surgical intensive care unit (ICU) were enrolled. Demographic data and weaning parameters were recorded from the prospectively collected database, and the total psoas muscle area (TPA) was determined at the level of the 3rd lumbar vertebra by computed tomography. Sarcopenia was defined by previously established cut-off points and its influence on clinical outcomes was examined. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was conducted to investigate the predictive capability of TPA and weaning parameters for predicting weaning outcomes.
The median age of the studied patients was 73 years. Thirty patients (31.3%) were sarcopenic and 30 (31.3%) were defined as DtW. Eighteen patients (18.8%) had ICU mortality. Multivariate logistic regression analyses revealed that sarcopenia was an independent risk factor for DtW and ICU mortality. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) of TPA for predicting successful weaning was 0.727 and 0.720 in female and male patients, respectively. After combining TPA and conventional weaning parameters, the AUC for DtW increased from 0.836 to 0.911 and from 0.835 to 0.922 in female and male patients, respectively.
Sarcopenia is an independent risk factor for DtW and ICU mortality. TPA has predictive value when assessing weaning outcomes and can be used as an effective adjunct predictor along with conventional weaning parameters.

This study aimed to assess the feasibility of utilizing geopolymer for repairing reinforced concrete beams. Three types of beam specimens were fabricated: benchmark specimens without any grooves, ...rectangular-grooved beams, and square-grooved beams. The repair materials employed included geopolymer material, and epoxy resin mortar, while carbon fiber sheets were used as reinforcement in select cases. The repair materials were applied to the rectangular and square-grooved specimens, with the carbon fiber sheets attached to the tension side of the specimens. To evaluate the flexural strength of the concrete specimens, a third-point loading test was conducted. The test results indicated that the geopolymer exhibited higher compressive strength and shrinkage rate compared to the epoxy resin mortar. Furthermore, the specimens reinforced with carbon fiber sheets demonstrated even greater strength than the benchmark specimens. In terms of flexural strength under cyclic third-point loading tests, the carbon fiber-reinforced specimens exhibited the ability to withstand over 200 cycles of repeated loading at 0.8 times the ultimate load. In contrast, the benchmark specimens could only withstand seven cycles. These findings highlight that the use of carbon fiber sheets not only enhances compressive strength but also improves resistance to cyclic loading.

The ...study finds that: the volume of merchandise trade between countries facilitates international student mobility across borders; international students from developing countries put the same weights on educational and economic factors for peer developing countries as potential destinations, while only economic factors are taken into consideration for developed countries as potential destinations. On the other hand, international students from developed countries often value educational factors more for developed countries as possible destinations, while equally weigh educational and economic factors for developing countries as possible destinations. Therefore, countries aiming to attract talents from other countries should pay more attention to attract international students and encourage them to seek working opportunities in local employment markets after finishing study.

Summary
The Hodgkin lymphomas are a family of unique lymphoma subtypes, in which the nature of the neoplastic cell was enigmatic for many years. Much of the mystery has been solved, with all forms ...now considered to be of B‐cell origin, in most cases of germinal centre derivation. Today we recognize Hodgkin lymphoma as an eponym that encompasses multiple entities. One of the unifying themes is the major contribution from the tumour microenvironment. Both the character of the neoplastic cells and the nature of the immune environment are critical to accurate diagnosis. Moreover, an understanding of the molecular alterations that characterize both the neoplastic cells and their microenvironment have led to therapeutic advances, targeting both neoplastic and reactive components. Other conditions may foster a similar inflammatory milieu and lead to lymphoproliferations that mimic the Hodgkin lymphomas. In this review we provide an update on the diagnostic features of the various subtypes and include additional information relevant for prognostic evaluation and investigation of potential therapeutic targets. Additionally, we also discuss those conditions that often cause confusion in diagnosis and need to be distinguished from the Hodgkin lymphomas.

The cosmological principle assumes that the universe is homogeneous and isotropic on cosmic scales. There exist many works testing the cosmic homogeneity and/or the cosmic isotropy of the universe in ...the literature. In fact, some observational hints of the cosmic anisotropy have been claimed. However, we note that the paucity of the data considered in the literature might be responsible for the “found” cosmic anisotropy. So, it might disappear in a large enough sample. Very recently, the Pantheon sample consisting of 1048 type Ia supernovae (SNIa) has been released, which is the largest spectroscopically confirmed SNIa sample to date. In the present work, we test the cosmic anisotropy in the Pantheon SNIa sample by using three methods, and hence the results from different methods can be cross-checked. All the results obtained by using the hemisphere comparison (HC) method, the dipole fitting (DF) method and HEALPix suggest that no evidence for the cosmic anisotropy is found in the Pantheon SNIa sample.

Respiration rate, heart rate, and heart rate variability (HRV) are some health metrics that are easily measured by consumer devices, which can potentially provide early signs of illness. Furthermore, ...mobile applications that accompany wearable devices can be used to collect relevant self-reported symptoms and demographic data. This makes consumer devices a valuable tool in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Data on 2745 subjects diagnosed with COVID-19 (active infection, PCR test) were collected from May 21 to September 11, 2020, consisting of PCR positive tests conducted between February 16 and September 9. Considering male (female) participants, 11.9% (11.2%) of the participants were asymptomatic, 48.3% (47.8%) recovered at home by themselves, 29.7% (33.7%) recovered at home with the help of someone else, 9.3% (6.6%) required hospitalization without ventilation, and 0.5% (0.4%) required ventilation. There were a total of 21 symptoms reported, and the prevalence of symptoms varies by sex. Fever was present in 59.4% of male subjects and in 52% of female subjects. Based on self-reported symptoms alone, we obtained an AUC of 0.82 ± 0.017 for the prediction of the need for hospitalization. Based on physiological signs, we obtained an AUC of 0.77 ± 0.018 for the prediction of illness on a specific day. Respiration rate and heart rate are typically elevated by illness, while HRV is decreased. Measuring these metrics, taken in conjunction with molecular-based diagnostics, may lead to better early detection and monitoring of COVID-19.

Biochars are the solid product of biomass under pyrolysis or gasification treatment, whose wholesale prices are lower than commercial activated carbons and other fine materials now in use. The employment of biochars as a renewable resource for field applications, if feasible, would gain apparent economic niche. Modification using physical or chemical protocol to revise the surface properties of biochar for reaching enhanced performances of target application has attracted great research interests. This article provided an overview of biochar application, particularly with the respect to the use of modified biochar as preferred soil amendment, adsorbent, electrochemical material, anaerobic digestion promotor, and catalyst. Based on literature works the current research trends and the prospects and research needs were outlined.
