Objectives:
We aimed to establish a new reference interval of blood cell parameters by classifying and counting blood Cells of 16- to 85-year-old healthy volunteers and observing continuous changes ...with age.
Methods:
We analyzed the blood cell parameters of 42,678 cases (men, 24,406; women, 18,272), and compared the blood cell parameters of men and women in different age groups using an independent samples t-test. Using limits of 2.5%–97.5%, a 90% confidence interval was used to develop new reference intervals.
Results:
Counts of blood cell parameters, including white blood Cells, neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils, red blood Cells, hemoglobin, hematocrit, distribution width of red blood Cells and platelets, were found to differ between men and women in different age groups. These parameters were used to establish a new reference interval of blood Cells.
Conclusion:
The blood cell parameters of both men and women changed with increasing age. The reference interval that we established will provide more accurate basic evidence for clinical diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Puerarin is a natural isoflavone isolated from plants of the genus Pueraria and functions as a protector against cerebral ischemia. We hypothesized that puerarin can be involved in the repair of ...peripheral nerve injuries. To test this hypothesis, doses of 10, 5, or 2.5 mg/kg per day puerarin (8-(β-D-Glucopyranosyl-7-hydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4H-1-benzopyran-4-one) were injected intraperitoneally into mouse models of sciatic nerve injury. Puerarin at the middle and high doses significantly up-regulated the expression of growth-associated protein 43 in the L4-6 segments of the spinal cord from mice at 1, 2, and 4 weeks after modeling, and reduced the atrophy of the triceps surae on the affected side and promoted the regeneration of nerve fibers of the damaged spinal cord at 8 weeks after injury. We conclude that puerarin exerts an ongoing role to activate growth-associated protein 43 in the corresponding segment of the spinal cord after sciatic nerve injury, thus contributing to neural regeneration after sciatic nerve injuries.
Amorphous carbon and graphene co-modified LiFePO4 nanocomposite has been synthesized via a facile polyol process in connection with a following thermal treatment.Various characterization ...techniques,including XRD.Mossbauer spectra,Raman spectra,SEM,TEM,BET,O2-TPO,galvano charge-discharge,CV and EIS were applied to investigate the phase composition, carbon content, morphological structure and electrochemical performance of the synthesized samples. The effect of introducing way of carbon sources on the properties and performance of LiFePO4/C/graphene composite was paid special attention.Under optimized synthetic conditions, highly crystalized olivine-type LiFePO4was successfully obtained with electron conductive Fe2P and FeP as the main impurity phases.SEM and TEM analyses demonstrated the graphene sheets were randomly distributed inside the sample to create an open structured LiFePO4 with respect to graphene, while the glucosederived carbon mainly coated over LiFeP04 particles which effectively connected the graphene sheets and LiFePO4 particles to result in a more efficient charge transfer process. As a result, favorable electrochemical performance was achieved. The performance of the amorphous carbon-graphene co-modified LiFePO4 was further progressively improved upon cycling in the first 200 cycles to reach a reversible specificcapacity as high as 97 mAh·g-1 at 10 C rate.

There are billions of tiny scales on the butterfly wings, which array regularly as the tiles on the roof. Such tilts can form various colors of the wing and afford the species many abilities to ...survive and propagate. Morphological experiments on the wing scales of six butterfly species living in northeast of China were conducted. By the optics microscope; the form, geometry dimension and array of the scales were observed generally. By using scanning electron microscope (SEM), the 2D scanning and measurement were carried out and the surface micro configurations of scales were observed. The dimension and microstructure characteristics of the cross section of single scale were achieved through transmission electron microscope (TEM). Finally, by using 3D software, three 3D models were described and the 3D visual effect was achieved. This work can put forward a basic method for the future study on the morphology of biological microstructure.

Road-deposited sediments(RDS) on urban impervious surfaces are important carriers of heavy metals.Dissolved heavy metals that come from RDS influenced by acid rain, are more harmful to urban receiving ...water than particulate parts.RDS and its associated heavy metals were investigated at typical functional areas, including industrial, commercial and residential sites,in Guangdong,Southern China, which was an acid rain sensitive area.Total and dissolved heavy metals in five particle size fractions were analyzed using a shaking method under acid rain scenarios.Investigated heavy metals showed no difference in the proportion of dissolved fraction in the solution under different acid rain pHs above3.0,regardless of land use.Dissolved loading of heavy metals related to organic carbon content were different in runoff from main traffic roads of three land use types.Coarse particles(>150 μm) that could be efficiently removed by conventional street sweepers, accounted for 55.1%-47.1%of the total dissolved metal loading in runoff with pH 3.0-5.6.The obtained findings provided a significant scientific basis to understand heavy metal release and influence of RDS grain-size distribution and land use in dissolved heavy metal pollution affected by acid rain.

Aim: To investigate the effects of the novel N6-substituted adenosine derivative {(2R,3S,4R,5R)-3,4-dihydroxy-5-6-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzyl)amino-9H-purin-9-yltetrahydrofuran-2-yl} methyl decanoate ...(WS0701) on stress-induced excessive fear, anxiety, and cognitive deficits in a mouse model of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Methods: Molecular modeling approach combining quantum-polarized ligand docking (QPLD), MM/GBSA free-energy calculation and 3D-QSAR analysis was used to evaluate 24 compounds as dual AT1 and ETA receptor antagonists and to reveal their binding modes and structural basis of the inhibitory activity. Pharmacophore-based virtual screening and docking studies were performed to identify more potent dual antagonists.
Results: WS0701 administration significantly alleviated fear, anxious behaviors and memory deficits in the mouse model of PTSD. Furthermore, WS0701 administration significantly reduced the stress-induced apoptosis of hippocampal neurons, and increased the Bcl-2/Bax ratio in the hippocampus. The positive control drug paroxetine exerted similar effects on PTSD-like behaviors and hippocampal neuron apoptosis in the mouse model of PTSD, which were comparable to those caused by the high dose of WS0701.
Conclusion: WS0701 effectively mitigates stress-induced PTSD-like behaviors in mice, partly via inhibition of neuronal apoptosis in the hippocampus.

FTIR spectroscopy in combination with a diamond tipped attenuated total reflectance (ATR) immersion probe was utilized to study in situ the copolymerization of butadiene (Bd) and isoprene (Ip) with ...neodymium-based catalyst in hexane. The relationship between the signal intensity of monomer and its concentration was investigated. The kinetic study of copolymerization of Bd and Ip was further conducted, and the monomer reactivity ratios were determined via in situ ATR FTIR. The signal band at 1010 cm^-1 was assigned to wagging vibration of Bd and its intensity was proportional to Bd concentration (Bd) in the range of 0.46-3.88 mol.L^-1. The signal bands at 890 and 989 cm^-1 were assigned to wagging vibration of Ip and the signal intensity was also proportional to Ip concentration (Ip) in the range of 0.08-4.73 mol·L^-1 at 890 cm^-1 and 0.08-7.49 mol·L^-1 at 989 cm^-1, respectively. Thus the signal band at 1010 cm^-1 was chosen to monitor Bd concentration and bands at 989 and 890 cm^-1 to monitor Ip concentration during the copolymerization, respectively. It was demonstrated that the conversions of Bd and Ip calculated from FTIR data agreed very well with those obtained gravimetrically. The poiymerization rates were first order with respect to both Bd and Ip, respectively at different polymerization temperatures. The apparent propagation activation energy for Bd and Ip could be determined to be 54.4 kJ·mol^-1 and 57.7 kJ·mol^-1, respectively. The monomer reactivity ratios were calculated to be 1.08 for Bd (rBd) and 0.48 for IP (rIp) based on FTIR data. The Bd-Ip copolymer products with random sequence could be obtained with only one glass transition temperature.

A series ofbutadiene-isoprene copolymers (BIR) with various compositions were synthesized with a neodymiumbased catalyst system. The microstructure, composition and sequence of copolymers were ...characterized by FTIR and ^13C-NMR spectroscopy. The crystallization behavior of the BIR copolymers was investigated by DSC analysis. The results demonstrate that the content of cis-1,4 configuration in both butadiene (Bd) and isoprene (Ip) units are around 98% when Bd content in feed (fBd) covering the range from 55.7 mol% to 96.0 mol%. The reactivity ratios of Bd and Ip were determined to be 1.40 and 0.48 respectively. The random copolymers of Bd and Ip show only one glass transition temperature (Tg) from -107.4℃ to -80.5℃, which is dependent on the composition and fits nicely with Fox equation. The sequence distribution followed the first-order Markov statistical model. It is found that the copolymer chains with higher Bd content contain longer polybutadiene (PBd) segments, and the sequence length of PBd segments (NBd) exhibits great influence on the crystallization behavior of the copolymer. The copolymers with NBd ≥ 11.8 could crystallize at low temperatures (-71℃ to -43℃). The crystallization temperature and enthalpy values decreased gradually with decreasing NBd. The copolymers with NBd ≤ 7.9 are amorphous even at very low temperatures (0℃ to -150℃) due to the short PBd segments.

Lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) has excellent physical and chemical properties, it is the coolants of the fourth generation of preferred lead-bismuth reactor and accelerator driven sub-critical system ...(ADS). Under neutron irradiation condition, LBE produces a large amount of 210Po, which is an important radioactive material and has important applications in industry, agriculture, aerospace and other fields. 210Po in LBE can be extracted by high temperature distillation technology, in the process, corrosion behavior of distillation crucible is very important. In this paper, the static corrosion test was carried out on 316L stainless steel, molybdenum, tungsten metal materials, quartz, alumina, zirconia, ceramic oxide materials and graphite material crucibles at 1 000 ℃ and 5 000 Pa, the quality changes of the candidate materials before and after the test were obtained. After the test, the results were got that the impurity content of LBE introduced by candidate crucibles of different materials, the morphology changes of the inner and outer surfaces of the crucibles in addition the surfaces of LBE, the metallographic appearance of the interface between the alumina crucible and LBE. The results show that the graphite crucible is unstable due to the large change of corrosion and carbonization quality. The 316L stainless steel, molybdenum and tungsten crucibles are unstable due to the large changes in corrosion quality. The quality of crucibles made of quartz, alumina, zirconia and molybdenum materials changes little and is stable at high temperature. 316L stainless steel, quartz, ceramic and graphite crucibles introduce 49.74 ppm impurities into LBE due to complex components and corrosion, which is relatively large. The high purity of alumina, zirconia, molybdenum and tungsten crucibles introduced in LBE impurity content is less than 31 ppm, which is small. The inner and outer surfaces of 316L stainless steel, molybdenum and tungsten crucibles are seriously corroded and lose metallic luster. The outer surface of graphite crucible is rough and porous, the inner surface is smooth without change. The crucible made of quartz material is cracked by slightly knocking, the outer surface is attached with gray material that is hard to be erased. The inner surface is smooth and clean without change. Part of the outer surface of the ceramic crucible turns brownish red, and the rest remained is unchanges. After the test, the inner and outer surfaces of alumina and zirconia crucibles are smooth without corrosion. The metallographic interface between alumina crucible and LBE is clean without corrosion. To sum up, the alumina crucible has good corrosion resistance to LBE, low price, it is suitable for use as a 210Po distillation crucible for LBE high-temperature distillation.
AIM: To observe the curative effect of Weiansan (WAS) on gastric precancerous lesions (GPL) and H pylori elimination.
METHODS: Seventy-six patients with GPL were randomly divided into two groups: WAS ...group (n = 42) and Weifuchun (WFC) group (n = 34). The patients in the WAS group were administered 5 g WAS 3 times a day, and the patients in the WFC group took WFC (4 tablets) 3 times a day. To monitor inflammation of gastric mucosa, degree of glandular atrophy (GA), intestinal metaplasia (IM) and dysplasia, and H pylori infection, all patients underwent gastroscopy and biopsy with pathological examination before and after treatment. Fifty male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were used in animal experiments. Of these, 10 served as the control group (n = 10), 40 were given ranitidine combined with N-methyl- N^1-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) for 12 wk and divided into 4 groups randomly: model group (n = 10), high-dose WAS group (n = 10), low-close WAS group (n = 10) and WFC group (n = 10). Twelve weeks later, all rats were killed and a 2 cm ×1 cm tissue was taken from the lesser curvature of the gastric antrum. H pylori infection was determined by the fast urease method.
RESULTS: The curative effect in WAS groups was similar to that in WFC groups. There was no statistical difference in degree of GA, IM and dysplasia between WAS and WFC groups. The rate of Hpylori infection in the model group (positive/negative: 9/1) was significantly higher than that in the control group (positive/negative: 1/9) (P 〈 0.01). H pylori elimination in the high-dose WAS group (positive/negative: 4/6) and low-dose WAS group (positive/negative: 6/4) was similar to that in the WFC group (positive/negative: 4/6) (P 〉 0.05).
CONCLUSION: WAS improves clinical symptoms by suppressing GA, IM and dysplasia and eliminating H pylori.
